Hello all, this thread continues from the previous "Upcoming Girl's Independent SW London Schools 11+ Exams" thread set up by @Oceane11Plus.

@PatoPato cleverly noticed, message slots were running low for the epic long thread as above, so all chat now continues here...

Congratulations to everyone who's has good news today! It feels a long time to wait for LU on 12th Feb.

Tr0ubled · 05/02/2021 17:55

So many congratulations to those with offers.
We’ve just had a surprise email from PHS, surprise as in wasn’t expecting to hear for another week but not really a surprise in that DD has been waitlisted. I say that as her interview didn’t go that well so I would’ve been surprised with an offer really.
I’m dreading telling her as at this stage she knows academically she was fine so to not be accepted really is just down to personality and that’s a pretty tough dose of reality for a 10 year old.

Stircrazyschoolmum · 05/02/2021 17:55

Is LU the last one to the west to declare? All the Dulwich schools plus SCHS are also next week I think..

Stircrazyschoolmum · 05/02/2021 17:56

Oh, and Emanuel of course.. and Ibstock?

WarmAndco3y · 05/02/2021 18:11

Big hugs to your DD @Tr0ubled. Is PHS high on your preferred list? It’s far from over, as I’m sure you know.

@Stircrazyschoolmum, I wish the other schools would just get on with it now! I really don’t see the point of waiting until next week now, with the other schools not following ‘the agreement’ this year. Surely they must all know who they are offering places to etc now

Oceane11Plus · 05/02/2021 18:14

Omg we have received our first offer Grin Wasn’t expecting PHS until next week. It’s not our first choice but DD is thrilled as she felt she was the only one in her class without a firm offer at this stage. I’m a bit more relaxed now waiting for the other offers and almost feel like celebrating tonight Wine
Sorry for those with WL offers but as others have said, more than ever this year these are likely to be transformed into firm offers sooner or later. If we get our first choice next week, we will be releasing PHS and other potential offers promptly (we applied to 5 schools).

rolloutthebarrel · 05/02/2021 18:23

Lurking here! Well done all and hold tight those on the WLs.
I don’t think the Co- Ed’s- LU, Emanuel etc will offer earlier as the boys schools still seem firm on next Friday. The girls schools have always tended to do their own thing a bit more. Suspect the consortium schools have to stick to the same dates as well.

Flossietea · 05/02/2021 18:37

So sorry to those waitlisted! We have already released our PHS and WHS offers as accepting LEH. Others will do the same! I’m certain all schools will be going to waitlist this year. We applied to 7 schools and we’re not unusual.

rolloutthebarrel · 05/02/2021 18:41

A thought about LU- when DS got an offer I had a small heart attack as a very thin envelope came in the post when they had said it would be an email. It was actually a congratulations for DS and the official email arrived a couple of hours later!

NoToMisogyny · 05/02/2021 18:51

So unfair that the boys’ schools are making us wait!! 😂. As someone said they must have made their decisions now!!

Stircrazyschoolmum · 06/02/2021 10:32

@Tr0ubled sorry our posts crossed yesterday - I hope your DD is ok, I remember you had a sports scholarship interview at PHS so it might have been a favourite?

@MumsRule20 @montlieu @PatoPato @LittleBlackBear I hope you guys are all ok? This thread moves so quickly sometimes I can’t keep up!

Is FHHS next week? I think they win most creative second assessment!

Montlieu · 06/02/2021 11:27

@Stircrazyschoolmum
Thank you for checking on us ! We got waitlist for PHS last night. I am just wondering how many they interviewed and what chances we have to have an offer at some point. I think I am going to call next week. Otherwise waiting for other offers to come back, but not hugely optimistic on the ISEB schools, then Emanuel where DD did the test independently but feel it hasn’t been the case for other DC so, again, not hugely optimistic. She should have an offer of a place for a selective place at Graveney though. Not sure if we want it.
How are you all ?

dinosaurinmybelly · 06/02/2021 13:15

Hello Montlieu definitely call PHS next week as I am sure there will be a lot of movement. We are also hopeful on Graveney and I like what I hear when I talk to parents who have DC there.

We didn't sit Emmanuel but are still waiting for JAGS and SPGS here so will be waiting another couple of weeks. Quite a few at DD's state school did not make it through to the second stage of either WHS or PHS, so I don't know if that means they interviewed less this year than usual? Well done to those DDs with offers or WL places this week.

GU21Mum · 06/02/2021 13:25

Finally we got the LEH post today. DD got the offer. Thanks all

Yossahughes · 06/02/2021 14:11

@gu21mum congratulations! LEH is a great school!

And congratulations to all the other offers from LEH, WHS and PHS.

WarmAndco3y · 06/02/2021 14:18

@GU21Mum congratulations, that’s excellent. Nice to have good news, to keep your DD positive. I’m sure you know it’s a great school.

dinosaurinmybelly · 06/02/2021 14:24

That's fantastic news GU21Mum

MumsRule20 · 06/02/2021 14:26

@Stircrazyschoolmum hello!! So nice to get your message and big well done and congrats to you and everyone else who has had good news and a hug to those who are on WL or didn’t get as hoped - it won’t all be for nothing and like many have said there might be lots of movement etc.

You are right, it is hard keeping up and so many posts / newcomers recently. I haven’t been checking in as I got riddled with anxiety all of last week. Can’t wait for the 12th to be over and done with as we don’t have anything else to hear from until then. All a bit painstaking mixed in with this unusual time.

What a journey it has been so far. Lovely hearing everyone’s good news as it comes and supporting those who need an ear and reassurance. X

Stircrazyschoolmum · 06/02/2021 14:49

@montlieu definitely call Putney. If it’s your first choice make that very clear! It sounds like offers will start getting released very quickly so you could get news quite soon.

We had a holding email from Alleyns this morning which nearly gave me a heart attack. They are posting letters next Thurs so it will be my turn to stalk the postman on Friday.

In the meantime we are hoping for some snow as a distraction!!

Yossahughes · 06/02/2021 16:57

@gu2mum if you are still interested in GHS you should call them and find out where your DD is on the waitlist as they can be quite specific. It doesn’t move as much as the London schools but they also don’t over offer. But LEH is amazing so perhaps fate has intervened and your daughter is destined to go there! Smile

dazedandconfused11plus · 06/02/2021 22:45

Congratulations @Stircrazyschoolmum @Flossietea @Oceane11Plus on Putney, and anyone else I've forgotten! @Stircrazyschoolmum it was very touching to hear your reaction - exactly how I felt yesterday morning! I seem to remember that JAGS is also ISEB so that bodes well for you Smile

DD also got PHS and now very keen to go there as I think it was her favourite interview! But we'll wait for the Consortium results and take it from there. Am I correct in thinking they will be released on Friday?

@GU21Mum wonderful news about LEH too - I don't think you can wrong there!

@Tr0ubled @Montlieu and @Trialsat11 I'm sure those waitlists are going to move. Just remember they can only go to one school, and this year there will be even more movement as it's the same list of exam results after all! Well done to those who have already given up their wait list places.

@PatoPato I hope you're doing ok. Have missed your funny anecdotes!

Well done everyone and good luck to those still waiting for the coming week (and keep up those nerves of steel!).

Trialsat11 · 06/02/2021 23:01

Thank you all for your lovely messages and encouragement .

We have 3 waitlists to follow on and it has been a terrible weekend . I have been trying to convince DD that we might probably have to make good with what we have but she has been in total denial and thinks that at least one waitlist will convert .

I know making a choice is a tough decision but it's my hope that people who have multiple offers move fast so that at least by the end of half term there is some hope on the waitlist . Atleast from what I can see at our school , its the same people having offers across WHS and PHS which is largely because of the ISEB .

Congrats all for the offers . This was a tough year and so very difficult to achieve such good results !

BookShark · 06/02/2021 23:37

@Trialsat11 just popping over from the boys thread to say don't lose hope yet. We're sitting on a couple of offers, but won't release anything until we've heard from all schools (Friday 12th). I think there will be a huge number of offers released over half-term, but probably not much before.

And this is an odd year - the schools have probably offered based on previous acceptance rates, but I suspect that the ISEB in particular has driven higher numbers of applications (it certainly did in DS's prep - we had a lot of people applying to 5+ schools), so I can see schools needing to use the waitlist much more than in previous years.

Best of luck to all those either waiting for offers or waitlist movements. So glad DS is an only, and we won't have to do this again!

Gladtidings1 · 07/02/2021 08:25

Well done to all the clever girls with offers and waiting list places! Sympathies to those still waiting for any news! Remember that even those on the waiting list have done incredibly well and jumped a huge number of hurdles. Putting it into perspective, even the "back up" schools on this list are some of the very best schools in the country and would offer an amazing education and start in life. I think we are lucky in a way coming from a state primary where not many DC are applying privately because it all feels like an amazing gift rather than having to worry about whether friends have got more/better/different offers which I appreciate could make the girls feel a bit disheartened but it is important to keep the wider perspective. I also think the waiting lists are bound to move a lot. We're still waiting for 2 results (one early next week, one Friday) but we're very happy with one of our 2 offers and wouldn't hang about to see if a waiting list place transpired if that's what came from our preferred choice, at this stage, I think it would be kinder to dd to have the certainty so will be releasing extra offers during the first days of half term at the latest.

dazedandconfused11plus · 07/02/2021 09:08

@Trialsat11 I think I remember your DD got through to the interview stage at Kingston Grammar too - when do you hear the outcome? Sending you lots of good luck vibes for KGS!
