Orange Great result. I bet that took some doing! Star

Shimy · 20/07/2020 20:10

@AnneOfCleavage thanks. Yes applications will be next yr not 2022, so hopefully still fresh in their minds.

Shimy · 20/07/2020 20:12

@OrangeCinnamon1 fantastic news, congratulations! Enjoy your break.

OrangeCinnamon1 · 20/07/2020 20:14

Thanks @Piggywaspushed and @ewwSprouts was tough but worth it!

ealingwestmum · 20/07/2020 20:20

StarStar Orange! Now you can really relax and enjoy...

PaddingtonPaddington · 20/07/2020 20:56

Well done @OrangeCinnamon1 that’s fab.

It’s been a long time coming but DD has an appointment with a psychiatrist tomorrow for an assessment for potential inattentive ADHD. Diagnosed with processing issues at the start of year 11 after she was struggling with English we got her a tutor who spotted it, school confirmed and additional measures and extra time put in place in lessons and for mocks etc. Educational psychologist assessment 6 months later found additional spatial reasoning and non-verbal processing difficulties and school added in more extra measures and informed all teachers.
I’m not sure what to expect tomorrow.

sandybayley · 20/07/2020 20:58

@OrangeCinnamon1 - amazing news, what an achievement. I hope you celebrate tonight.

DD has arrived safely in Switzerland. She flew out today with a friend to join another friend who has a house there for a week. It was always planned as part of the post GSCE summer extravaganza so I'm pleased it's happened.

The legal age to buy alcohol there is 16! I have her tracked...

OrangeCinnamon1 · 20/07/2020 21:15

Best of luck for tomorrow @paddingtonpaddington good that has been picked up.

OrangeCinnamon1 · 20/07/2020 21:18

@sandybayley lucky her ! What IS the swiss national tipple? Grin

sandybayley · 20/07/2020 22:07

Thankfully the 16 year olds are limited to wine and beer until they are 18. I think she knows to keep away from spirits after a previous experience. She is a good girl and fairly sensible.

DS also away with friends on a post-GCSE trip to Cornwall. Luckily his friends are very sensible (although he is less reliable). Seemed strange doing the post-GCSE thing without the GCSEs.

Is the Switzerland trip without adults? Sounds very adventurous going abroad as a group of unaccompanied 16 year olds!

FoolsAssassin · 21/07/2020 06:20

That’s wonderful mess OrangeCinnamon

These holidays are sounding great. DS hugely benefitting from his sister being hike finally after over 6 months.

Well done Orange!

Been busying buying suits for Ds1 school 6th form, agree it's poncey, for a school to still insist on suits, but god does he look dapper in a suit.

School email re going in to get results. All seems low key which was odd.

sandybayley · 21/07/2020 07:20

No @Monkey2001, they flew alone but are staying at a friends house with parents there!DD has flown alone before when she was about 13 but that time had an accompanied flight and had to wear a big label round her neck. She looked a bit like Paddington Bear.

Monkey2001 · 21/07/2020 08:39

My post to say Well Done to Orange didn't work. An OU degree is a great achievement, takes a lot of focus and commitment.

ProggyMat · 21/07/2020 08:57

Well done Orange !

KingscoteStaff · 21/07/2020 09:36

Fantastic achievement Orange!
Can we all wear hats for your virtual graduation?

crazycrofter · 21/07/2020 11:31

Congratulations @OrangeCinnamon1! What subject?

Northumberlandlass · 21/07/2020 13:46

Congratulations @OrangeCinnamon1 👏🏻👏🏻

ealingwestmum · 21/07/2020 13:47

Also loving hearing about all the DC taking their first trips, home and abroad. DD had a long weekend away with friends recently; a mixed group of school pals, managing to not get too over the top on the drinking, judging by the breakfast photo of one morning. Better than a 5* hotel Grin

Also nice to get away from daily park life for a bit. I know they are bored, but some of the gatherings are making me a touch nervous. She’s relatively sensible but I can’t vouch for the wider mix they are attracting!

Wheresthebeach · 21/07/2020 15:48

Well done @OrangeCinnamon1 that’s brilliant.

AnneOfCleavage · 21/07/2020 16:37

Orange wow congratulations that's a fab result 🥂🍾👏

Hope the appointment went well today Paddington

What course is your DS doing Foolsassasin? So cool he's happy to board at 16 - sounds an enriching adventure.

Impressed with DC going on post GCSE trips. Sounds amazing.

Fiddlersgreen · 21/07/2020 16:44

Congratulations @OrangeCinnamon1 that’s fantastic!

DS wanted to go away for a few days but they/we couldn’t find a hotel to take them
