SW London girls independent/grammars thread 2020

Last year, there were two amazing threads which were super helpful about exactly this, so I wanted to start a thread for girls due to start September 2020. If anyone from last year wants to contribute please do!

We have narrowed our choices down to 5, sadly not in the right postcode for Tiffin, and decided not to do the Sutton grammars.

So, she will be doing PHS, WHS, LEH, SHS and Woldingham. Also registered for Emanuel but we may pull that one.

I suppose they think nobody can do anything over half term anyway as all the admissions offices will be shut, so they might as well take their time?

But many people will have a bunch of offers in hand on Friday and may decide to not bother waiting.

Yes, I don’t understand why LEH etc leave it another whole week. Hmm IF we are lucky enough to get an offer from Putney, I want to accept it straight away, but DH wants to hold out and see what the LEH result is. It would be much easier if they were both the same day!

Crossing my fingers for all of you - I remember how it felt this time last year (at this point dd had an offer from Sutton, a waiting list from WHS, and was waiting on SPGS and Tiffin, so it was all very spread out and seemed to go on for ever).

The wait is so painful. From the first exam on 6th January, it feels a lifetime Confused. Am feeling quite sick at the prospect of Friday's post, but also I just need to know now! Time is moving soooo slowly.

Ooh update from Putney: results to be sent tomorrow to arrive on Thurs morning. Am shaking now! And out of the house on Thursday helping at a school event Shock

Congrats to everyone that has got good news.

I agree this week is dragging something chronic.
Our post always come really late so won't find out until very late
thursday if we are lucky as letter may not arrive until Friday.
Hoping they email as well.

Good luck to you too @Autumnnightsaredrawingin and everyone else for Putney tomorrow (and all the others on Friday!). Didn't sleep much last night, not sure tonight will be any better. Haven't told dd it's coming early as if it's bad news I will wait to see what she gets on Friday before telling her. Praying we all get good news.

OMg we just had a letter (by email) from LEH - DD got a place ☺️ I wasn’t expecting to hear from them for another week!

Still nothing from PHS though.

@Revolution - I think it's WHS v LEH for you? We went to the WHS offer holder tour yesterday - and DD loved it. If it's any help at all, feel free to PM me if you want any info.

Postman just here, dd has a WL from PHS. And now the wait begins! The lists do move, correct?! Oh well, at least it’s not a no...wishing you all the best of luck!

Was not expecting LEH letter today! DD offered with scholarship. Can’t quite believe it.

Will be declining WHS and Surbiton.

Oh no @abc79, how annoying to have to wait some more - but still, a WL is good, I’m sure it will move. We just got an offer from PHS which we will be releasing, I’m sure others will too.

So just got home and no letter from Putney but instead we have an academic scholarship offer for LEH!! Completely astounded and delighted! It's our preference over Putney so I'm absolutely over the moon. Can't wait to tell dd. All our other schools send results tomorrow but at least now we have a great offer at one of our favourite schools so I can breathe again. Well done to your dd @chevronrosie for getting a scholarship too!

Just actually read the letter and dd also got a Music Exhibition from LEH which increases the value of her scholarship. Oh my golly, I never expected this!
