SW London girls independent/grammars thread 2020

Last year, there were two amazing threads which were super helpful about exactly this, so I wanted to start a thread for girls due to start September 2020. If anyone from last year wants to contribute please do!

We have narrowed our choices down to 5, sadly not in the right postcode for Tiffin, and decided not to do the Sutton grammars.

So, she will be doing PHS, WHS, LEH, SHS and Woldingham. Also registered for Emanuel but we may pull that one.

@itsateameffort . That was me yesterday as I got the date wrong and thought the emails were being sent out then. So today instead I was waiting by the postbox for the rejection letter. Oh dear, how neurotic this process makes us all! Willing your email ping to sound soon with positive news!

I remember this well from last year because it was the first proper “feedback” we had following an exam. Last year, the Consortium schools and PHS interviewed everyone, so you had no idea whatsoever how you had done at all until the 15th Feb!

If it’s any help, I remember getting the email at school pick up time (3.30) as DD was coming out and we are mid alphabet ish.

I actually don’t know what’s worse, constant email refreshing, or the thud of envelopes.

Has anyone heard from Kingston Grammar about interviews? I think they said they would email today.

On another thread someone said they had spoke to KGS and it won’t be until after 4pm today.

Has anyone received the email from CLSG? It was supposed to be sent out today.

Kingston emails are out now and dd has an interview, which is a relief! Hope the news is good for everyone else too

We've heard from KGS, DD been invited to the academic scholarship exam! So pleased for her! (And still a bit gobsmacked tbh)

Out of interest, are the Consortium schools interviewing everyone again this year? Last year, G&L interviewed over 900 from November onwards, which seems crazy, so wondering if they did it all again this year? I know PHS have reverted back to just interviewing a proportion.

Interview dates for G&L were informed before the test so I’m assuming they’re interviewing everyone who applied?

Nervously waiting for LEH and PHS interviews or not letter and email here. Friday letter for LEH and email on Tuesday for PHS. Everything crossed for us and those waiting.

Now awaiting LEH, PHS and LU interview/rejection letters/emails. A few consortium interviews starting tomorrow to keep dd busy in the meantime!

We have interview time for FHSS, but I was under the impression they interview all. We were told the interview day when we applied.

When they email you in February - do you just get a yes / no or do they tell you how well they did in the test?
I'm curious to see how she did.

@Contessa28 you too! I am willing tomorrow to come so we just know one way or another. It’s such a tough school to get a place I don’t hold out much hope for us, but have everything crossed in case!
