onaroll · 21/05/2019 20:35

greeborising
👋🏻😊

Greeborising · 21/05/2019 20:35

That was supposed to be a ‘hello’!

triggers34 · 21/05/2019 20:48

Gree thanks for replying, dd is relieved.

Rugbylife · 21/05/2019 20:57

We’re in Wales, so WJEC board and still letters.

ProggyMat · 21/05/2019 21:35

onaroll I'm a lurker too, and couldn't even attempt that question. I've given it to my DD who is currently in the middle of year 10 'end of year exams' and thought it might help with her revision. She couldn't solve it at first, but she seems to think that if the question was actually 2fg(x) = gf(x) rather than fg(x) = 2gf(x) then the answer can be proven. Here are her workings:

onaroll,

I think she may have not quite remembered that correctly.

onaroll · 21/05/2019 21:44

ProggyMat - it's all latin to me 😂
Dd could of written it wrong , just from memory earlier on. She's now moved on to watching tv & going over a bit of physics.
Her A level choices are maths, biology , chemistry & history so she's not desperate for a high result tomorrow , which is nice.

Zoflorabore · 21/05/2019 21:55

Ready for bed here but just checking in.

Ds said maths went quite well but was stuck on the last question.
He has physics tomorrow and has been revising for a few hours since he got home.

Hkw drama teacher is a sweetheart and brought them all a single red rose and a beautiful card with such lovely words about ds, completely and utterly personal and something to treasure.
She said she is so proud of him and to beleive in himself so he's perked up so much.

That's us for this week after tomorrow :)

Good luck to all of our troopers 🙏

ProggyMat · 21/05/2019 21:56

onaroll lol, DD has just sat Latin and maths paper 1 today. She has Ancient Greek, further maths and chemistry tomorrow. Impressive set of A-Levels, wish all the best for her GCSEs! x

onaroll · 21/05/2019 22:00

TheFrendo

Most probably not Hmm

Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

myrtleWilson · 21/05/2019 22:10

Spanish and then physics tomorrow - not the most confidence inspiring line up I have to say.

Hasta la mañana todos

Que la fuerza este con usted x
I think 😳

grauduroi · 22/05/2019 07:05

Just having a quiet wobble to myself about maths. A level choices are chemistry, biology, french and core maths.....are these still okay to do if the science results are high but the maths not that stellar.

DS is worried that the maths did not go great. He is competant at maths but can't get a high mark in the exams (panics)....class results are good.

Good luck to those taking spanish and physics today Smile

SolitudeAtAltitude · 22/05/2019 07:20

Edexel higher maths here, DS said it was difficult but that everyone found it hard , and that you simply cannot know how you did in these new gcse's as nobody knows the grade boundaries...

Aqa (triple) physics today... fingers crossed!

@Grauduroi, most colleges would accept one grade lower than their official grade boundary if you come in for a chat.

I know people who got into maths with a 5, when minimum grade boundary was 6

Iambuffy · 22/05/2019 07:43

Ds has aqa triple physics today. Hes not confident. His least favourite science subject!

AGirlHasNoCake · 22/05/2019 08:01

DS was super confident after maths - and then he chatted with friends and now he think it was a disaster because they did different answers to him. He is a catastrophizer. He keeps saying "But I'll only get a 7" Hmm - I have to keep reminding him that that's an A in old levels. The pressure on these children to achieve is scary.

Physics today. Its not a key subject for either of my two, so its pretty chill here this morning.

grauduroi · 22/05/2019 08:02

Thanks solitude, fingers crossed for the next two papers.

Physics this afternoon, be glad when June 14th is here Smile

Zoflorabore · 22/05/2019 08:03

Just counted the exams still left to do after half term for ds. 12 from 3rd-14th with a couple of doubles on some days.

Ds's school have a school bus which is stopping this Friday due to funding issues. Great timing, right in the middle of his GCSE's! So after half term it's 2 buses each way to school and back.
Ds will be panicking over the 9am start exams and said he's leaving the house at 7.30. Just can't wait for them to be over now. My anxiety levels are through the roof.

solicitude - I am a bit puzzled by your comment - do I understand correctly that some colleges will take students for maths a level with a 5? Given that the boundary range for a 5 on, say edexcel gcse maths, is just 32-45%, wouldn't that be a bit irresponsible, unless there were special circumstances? Surely someone who got the majority of a gcse maths paper wrong wouldn't enjoy a level maths?

Or am I misunderstanding the grade boundaries? All a bit puzzling. It seems that the 7 boundary is just 57%. Can that be right?

Powergower · 22/05/2019 09:08

Ds dreading poetry tomorrow. He's got physics today but it's more stressed about literature poems tomorrow. There's just so many poems to remember, quotes, them knowing which poem to compare to. Also the exam fatigue has really set in.

KittyMcKitty · 22/05/2019 09:17

Physics (triple) here today. Eng Lit (AQA) tomorrow and DT on Friday.

Still 11 left to do after half term - it’s a very long slog!!

Bimkom · 22/05/2019 09:32

Only 9 after half term, so I guess we will have broken the back of it. Only one that hasn't been started (English language). That is after Physics today.
