Welcome all - just went to post on thread 2 and saw it was at 999 so quickly did this

Iambuffy Great parenting, I am doing the same, some things are just more important than GCSE's Grin.

DD and I also watching Eurovision tonight. This is going to be a bit of a trial for me, but I will pretend to enjoy it for DD, and to keep her company. It's going to be a long night.

Openupyourmind · 18/05/2019 11:57

Late to the thread - bit of a lurker but can I join? I have twins doing GCSE they are doing exactly the same subjects, so it's a delicate balancing act and the atmosphere at home has been quite intense...

Greeborising · 18/05/2019 12:51

Hi Open
That must be difficult! Are they competitive?

Iambuffy · 18/05/2019 12:53

Well, it's our wedding anniversary party tonight :)
120 folks gathering at a local hotel.
Some revision done this morning and I'm assured more to be done in a while....

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 18/05/2019 12:59

Have a wonderful evening buffy, you deserve it Smile

Greeborising · 18/05/2019 13:07

Happy anniversary buffy have a great evening!

Iambuffy · 18/05/2019 13:14

Thank you!

When I dance like I look like I'm being attacked by bees but nevermind 😁

Greeborising · 18/05/2019 13:23

That’s the only way to dance! 😁

SilentSister · 18/05/2019 13:34

Iambuffy Ha, ha, ha, Mum dancing. Congratulations and have fun.

Openupyourmind · 18/05/2019 13:47

@Greeborising no they aren't competitive and they are very similar in ability, the most difficult thing will be commiserating and celebrating at the same time - it almost feels like we ignore the successful one, in favour of supporting the one who hasn't done so well but it's never the same child, so they both know what is feels like to be on the both sides - we are dreading results day - we have no clue who we will be commiserating and who'll we'll be subtly celebrating with. You know what they say comparison is the theft of joy.

Dc's school must be a little worried, they've notified of a whole lot of breakfast revision classes. Seems a little late in the day to be adding this optional extra but they are a pushy school who boast widely of their academic results each year.

Dc attended the Chemistry class and thinks the exam went well but this is a subject they love and have been predicted an 8 in.

School have sent yet another e-mail insisting that pupils must attend daily even if no exams and can't leave early/start late without a good reason in writing from a parent. Plenty of griping about Monday as

dc and lots of friends have no exams that day.

chocolateworshipper · 18/05/2019 14:11

RS on Monday. First paper was Christianity which she thought went well, so hoping that it will compensate for the non-Christianity paper which definitely won't be as easy.

Openupyourmind · 18/05/2019 14:13

Dcs have RE- Islam on Monday - they are hoping it's the easier of the two exams.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 18/05/2019 14:26

I honestly had no idea that 'no study leave allowed' was a thing. It seems like utter madness to me.

DS finally crawled out of bed just before midday. He's now revising physics and says he will also do some maths this afternoon. Next Saturday they have been advised to come in for a maths revision seminar, in advance of paper 2 after half-term, but apart from that there have been surprisingly few revision sessions scheduled.

Next week is fairly full on with five exams in three days, but at least he has nothing more after Thursday until 4th June...and then we're on the home stretch thank god!

bizzey · 18/05/2019 14:33

Rs for us on monday. 1st did not go well...due to timing issues. But he has said "i have 2 more papers to do to pull it up"
I am taking that as a positive attitude to revising.
Just wish i could see proof of this positive attitude

Scabetty · 18/05/2019 14:47

Off from this Monday on study leave. Ds works better at home he says. Can anyone explain why he has to spend hours showering, getting dressed in coordinating items, doing his hair, etc just to revise. When I suggested it was a delay tactic he shook his head sadly as though I just didn’t understand the preparation that goes into revision Blush

bizzey · 18/05/2019 14:50

@SilentSister i will be watching Eurovision tonight as well ...on my own !
There is a threaf on it in telly addicts.
Really fun to read while watching !

Michaelahpurple · 18/05/2019 15:08

Scabetty - love the imagine of your perfectly groomed reviser!

Michaelahpurple · 18/05/2019 15:09

DS seems to think the only fuel for exams are protein bars, biltong, rye crisps and diet coke. I have tried sneaking fruit into his comfort-packs (he is at boarding school) but I suspect it gets little attention.
Hey ho - I think the healthy eating lectures will have to wait until the exams are over.

Luciaia · 18/05/2019 15:10

iambuffy congratulations! Hope you have a great night even if others think you’re swatting bees away
Dd has relaxed today, did a maths paper and since then has done a lot of lazing about and coming on walks with the dog- thank god! Thought she was going to burst with stress so it’s great to see her smile again

TabbyStar · 18/05/2019 15:35

Same, though DD also had make up, eyebrows and fake tan to sort out. That's seemingly quite exhausting so doesn't leave much energy for revision!

Scabetty · 18/05/2019 15:38

Tabbystar Grin

Greeborising · 18/05/2019 16:38

My dd is currently revising wearing baggy joggers, a t shirt with a pot noodle stain and odd socks 😬

Openupyourmind · 18/05/2019 16:41

Ds like to revise in a onesie!

pointythings · 18/05/2019 17:02

iambuffy have a really great evening! I am watching Eurovision with both DDs. DD2 currently revising maths with her gf, which is lovely. DD1 starts her A levels on Tuesday - History, witchcraze, which is the section she likes best.
