Little bit of good news here - apparently ds's English Language coursework pieces are both 9s, according to his teacher. Obviously they don't get the actual mark but he's been told they are of that standard. So that's a nice start, given that they changed exam boards/curricula halfway through the course!

E mailed you nathan! :)

I agree there is still time.

44 school days left! AND 3 weeks of school holidays too :)

I guess because of fairly generous study leave, we have much fewer school days left than that (assuming you are not counting actual exams).

We only have 25 school days left, I think, and because DS is doing art, two of those are fully taken up with the art exam (so he won't go to his other subjects those days, I assume). So really 23 of regular classes. If you counted the days he has to go in for actual exams in May/June and for his oral then it would be more.

Great newsmaud

Bimkom · 07/03/2019 12:23

Amazing result for English language coursework maud! What board have they changed to and from (presumably some IGCSE, the regular GCSE doesn't have coursework anymore).

Oooh! Exciting!

pointythings · 07/03/2019 16:46

Biology mock back, could be a 7 dependent on grade boundaries - so far DD has done as well as or better than mock 1 in everything.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 07/03/2019 16:46

soursprout I guess it works on the basis that lots of people will have applied to more than one place so somehow or other it all works out in the end.

I work in a university and there is some fiendishly complicated algorithm around number of offers vs number of available places in my faculty that is a source of wonder and secrecy. But in the many years I've been there it's only been wrong once!

We're waiting for History, Geography, both Englishes and some of the French, but she only finished today.

But it's good to see that all the revision she's doing is working.

ROZ12 · 07/03/2019 23:20

Thanks everyone for making me feel better, we have a plan of action so hoping it will boost the grades.

Maud - we are also doing the igcse English Edexcel with coursework. No indication of grade just comments on how to improve the drafts. Last draft is being printed as we speak!!

67chevvyimpala · 08/03/2019 07:56

Ds1 is off to a 6th form interview later.
Its his back up if he doesn't get the grades for his 1st choice.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 08/03/2019 09:38

Yes that's the one, Roz - Ds has really enjoyed it but he loves writing anyway and wants to be a journalist so all the transactional writing stuff is right up his street.

Hope the interview goes well chevvy. Ds had one last night at his second choice, which he now thinks might be his first choice, maybe, perhaps, not sure Grin I'll just be glad when it's all over!

67chevvyimpala · 08/03/2019 16:17

Ds got a conditional offer there and then so he's pleased:)

I've just got to fill the huge pile of paperwork out now...

flatmouse · 08/03/2019 18:18

DD mock results coming in slowly, 3 so far.. chemistry well out performed any expectations. Biology was ok with plenty room for improvement. Geography good, but nearly 2 grades down from first mock (first mock was paper 1 which she is confident in, mock 2 was paper 2 or a version thereof as I don't think they've finished the paper 2 syllabus yet....let alone paper 3!).

Shopping day tomorrow! Still doing after school revision but won't start home timetable until next weekend. Need her to finish her video for PE and get that submitted, then it's all exam focus.

Powergower · 09/03/2019 22:23

So glad mocks are all done.

Well done to ds chevvy; it's nice to have things sorted for September.

flatmouse · 10/03/2019 12:42

@Soursprout were we supposed to revise for O levels? Oh, maybe that's where I went wrong 😁 I was always a disappointment (academically) mainly because 1) I preferred socialising and 2) I had seen my DB get top results without need to revise!

67chevvyimpala · 10/03/2019 12:42

Well, hopefully :)

Gives him options, anyway.
