Gcses begin 10 weeks today

67chevvyimpala · 04/03/2019 10:43

So...50 school days left

67chevvyimpala · 04/03/2019 14:44

Just had a text from ds1s school...GCSE revision timetables out today!

Eeeek!

67chevvyimpala · 04/03/2019 14:45

(Not revision ones, but his exam timetable)

SilentSister · 04/03/2019 16:05

67chevvy

DDs start in 8 weeks !!! German Oral on 29th April, then first Biology 2nd May, then a couple of Eng on 7th and 10th.... then full on. Why do ours start so early :-(

DD timetable now up on my pin board.

67chevvyimpala · 04/03/2019 16:05

😮😩

pointythings · 04/03/2019 21:02

DD2 reckons she has completely bombed her Physics mock - she hasn't been feeling at all well. On the other hand she and her GF have gone over the review of her first Maths mock together (the one she scraped a 6 for) and DD reckons she now completely gets all of the things covered in that one, whereas she didn't before.

She also thinks she bombed her French listening mock, but she thought that last time and got a 7.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 04/03/2019 21:06

Ds's Spanish oral is at the end of March! Luckily, he should be ok; his Spanish speaking is pretty good. But it's so ridiculously early.

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 07:40

End of march!! Argh!

pointythings · 05/03/2019 17:07

Results starting to come back - Chemistry was a 4, but everyone in DD's group got either 4 or 5 - apparently it was ludicrously hard.

French reading (higher) was 2 marks off a 9! All that extracurricular reading is paying off (she's reading Le Petit Prince in French on her own time to get a feel for the language and increase her vocab).

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 18:26

Ds1 got a 4 in chemistry too pointy

flatmouse · 05/03/2019 19:32

DD had drama on Monday. Went well enough. One set of 3 failed that part as one of the three forgot her lines and other 2 couldn't cover 😢
Last mock tomorrow is physics, then she's having a break from home revision for at least a week.

pointythings · 05/03/2019 19:45

We've still got drama mock (theory) and English Language to come - both strengths.

Powergower · 05/03/2019 21:49

Not long now! The stress is building in my house... I feel like I'm walking on eggshells all the bloody time. I told ds today that once exams finish we need a chat.... about the state of his room.

It sounds like we're all suffering in a similar way.
Dd had an impossible (her words) history mock today and all her confidence has goneSad Chemistry tomorrow! Then 2 more on Thursday and Friday. At the same time she's stiĺl being given lots of homework and is very aware they haven't finished any subject yet!!! Lots of panic, I hate school etc etc. While I don't want GCSEs to come too quickly, I'll be glad when it's all over!

Hotterthanahotthing · 06/03/2019 00:21

My dd is so snowed under with homework (11at the weekend)that she is finding revision hard. They are on a second lot of mocks for English and maths with science later as those doing triple science have quite a bit if the syllabus to cover(at least these area will be fresh).
Ihave noticed that the years below dd are starting there GCSE studies in year 9 now and there is less of a push for all 10subjects that dd had.
My dd is going to bed earlier 9.30.as she says she is so tired.

gleegeek · 06/03/2019 00:33

Hotter my dd is finding fitting in revision difficult too. I know the teachers are desperately trying to cover the courses but the pressure on the dcs is immense. Dd said earlier she has too many subjects(11.5) and school shouldn't have persuaded her to take all the extras☹ I agree tbh.

DD2 is doing 10 but they are 3 year GCSEs. She has not been getting homework during mocks but has been going to after school revision. Homework will no doubt kick in again next week.

She's stressed and moodier than usual but no eggshells here. There can't be - my DD1 is doing A levels so we all have to keep a level head.
