Boys? Girls? Co-ed?

NOrth/south/east/west?

Full or weekly?

dalbitsori · 20/07/2018 14:59

Co-ed and anywhere is fine, it'll be best if its closer to london. full boarding

I can’t imagine any boarding school that does not have brilliant art results.

dalbitsori · 20/07/2018 15:04

I'm looking for boarding schools that have better art facilities than others.

King's School, Bruton is on a direct train route to London.

CraftyGin · 20/07/2018 15:09

Are you looking for particular skills? All will offer fine art, for example, bit are you interested in sculpture, pottery, photography, textiles etc?

My limited understanding of school art is that they all specialise in a fairly narrow area of the Art Curriculum, and those that want to take it further move on to an Art Foundation Course before moving on to Higher Education.

What output are you looking for?

dalbitsori · 20/07/2018 15:12

I'm planning on going to an art university after a levels to study fashion design.

I believe Stowe have an excellent fashion department.

CraftyGin · 20/07/2018 15:19

So you want a school that offers Art Textiles?

dalbitsori · 20/07/2018 15:24

Yes that would be great

A friend moved her DS to Bedales for 6th form just for the Art facilities etc which she says are amazing. I know nothing about it but you can check their website.

bakingdemon · 20/07/2018 15:40

Rugby, maybe? Or Eton if boys only is OK? When is your child looking to start?

Brighton College is co-ed and has excellent Art results - last year was 100% A and A*. Went for an Open Day there and was very seriously impressed with the quality of students' work

dalbitsori · 20/07/2018 16:10

Yes, I've heard of Brighton.

Rugby has a sixth form girls house and is very good at art. You'd need to do 2 or 3 other subjects as well and you'd need to get in touch with them in September if you want to start in September 2019. It's not cheap.

Racecardriver · 20/07/2018 17:33

Have a look at the good schools guide. It us fairly accurate in my experience.

Rudi44 · 20/07/2018 18:49

Badminton not co Ed but great art facilities, textiles ceramics, photography etc

macdhui · 20/07/2018 18:55

Bryanston in Dorset is known for its art - it is a co-ed school

BubblesBuddy · 20/07/2018 19:32

Shame you want co-ed because Heathfield at Ascot (girls) is one of the top schools for fashion and art. They have a link with the London College of Fashion and alumni working in the world of fashion. It’s their Usp. Close to London and full boarding. Small so you’ll make friends very easily. Their art results and photography A level results are stellar.

Enidblyton1 · 20/07/2018 19:35

Bedales and Bryanston are both worth looking at

falaffels · 20/07/2018 19:39

Deffo have a look at Bryanston. Great textiles/ all round arty options.
