Hi all sorry I haven't been on had a busy day.
bombula my dgd has made revision cards since year 8! Every assessment, test or end of year exams she has always used her revision cards and even now she uses some from year 9 and 10. If they get in the habit if doing that it stays with them. Her blazer pockets were always bulging with revision cards!
Also we got her all revision guides textbooks etc we could. These she would go through highlighting important quotes/ points etc also she would do mindmaps too.
Dgd says she remembers by reading, then writing out longhand notes, then verbally repeating. But everyone has a different system of revision to suit themselves. Also she has always done 2-2 half hours a day ( except Fridays) homework, revision and research around subject especially geography. She has had National Geographic mag since year 5 and as it contains lots of science too it has been a great aide to her studies. They do a history one too which is good.
I'm sure your dc will do well as all whose parents take an interest in their education ( not take overSmile).

To answer everyone's question, dgd swinging between NeuroScience/behavioural psychology/neuro surgery or geoscience. So she thought if she could get an insight into neurological workings she could make her mind up whether to go medical or clinical or opt to do geography. So complicated for DC to make their minds up hence choice of A levels to give her more options.

Thanks for the tip, Loose.
Is everyone having a good day?
DS was revising for next week's Geography. We had this conversation late afternoon:

Me: How are things going?
Him (smiling): Good. Only one more hour to go,
Me (surprised): I thought you struggled with Geography,
DS: That's because I never revised for it before. I used to just do half an hour before class tests and go in and try to wing it.

I honestly had no idea but I'll be watching for it next year!

P.s interview went really well. Lasted about hour and half. Lots of 'health and safety' stuff. Was introduced to mentor who will give her more info via e-mail as to hierarchy, dos and donts etc. Then a quick tour. Dgd enjoyed it very much and the interviewer commented on her knowledge and maturity. She also added she's quiet but asked lots of questions! So we shall see his it all goes! Next interview for one day a week voluntary work in a care home. I'm hoping that working in care home will give her an insight into just his hard her poor mum works!

Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 22:42

Dgd also did another timed math paper 2. Think she may be panicking as she feels she didn't do that well in paper 1. She got me to do a 4 mark question. I got it right! But she told me my workings out were not what examiner would expect! It was a ratio question. I said just use multiplication to find the ratio you want. She said its only an hour and half paper not an all day oneGrin

Lady has to make sandwiches. Each sandwich takes 1 bread roll and 2 cheese slices. She makes over 100 sandwiches. Pack if 15 rolls £1.88 pack of 20 cheese slices £2.15. What would be the least amount of money spent by lady?

Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 22:46

Whoever answers within 4 minutes gets aStar

Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 22:47

Forgot to add you have to have twice as many cheese slices to rolls.

Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 22:47

Dont how did the prom suit trip go yesterday?

Somebody was also trying to get BTS tickets...update tomorrow.

Slightly concerned that DD has concentrated on maths, history & geography this week and ignored Spanish & sciences. She says she will crack on with these over the weekend, but she has a tennis match and is bound to want to revisit history as well.

Tick tock, tick tock. ( and its at the beginning of the paper!)

Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 22:51

7£1.88 and 11£2.15 = (doing this in my head) £36.81 . Who are you catering for?

Lots of little girlies went out & bought cheap SIM cards. Apparently they are having two sales to borrow, one for O2 customers and one for the masses. £220 VIP dropping to £62.50 if you wish to hang off the roof!

Wrong stickerocks! Sorry! Read next post as I forgot to say you have to have twice as many cheese ices than rolls (2:1)

Cherryburn · 31/05/2018 22:53

£26.06??!!

123fushia · 31/05/2018 22:53

Half term here and half way through GCSEs for DD. She has decided this week to become a vegan! I’ve been keeping her well fed and healthy in between (short) bursts of revision. Got 30 reports here to write, as well as revision support, and now I am trying to find 100 ways to make decent meals with veg. Roll on 15th June (when she will probably have had enough of being vegan.)

Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 22:53

To borrow? Tomorrow

Cherryburn · 31/05/2018 22:55

Oh, just seen your update! That's wrong then...!!

Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 22:56

Its question on last years math paper2.

Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 22:57

Sorry cherrybun its wrong! But thanks for trying!

Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 23:03

Aha. The bit not mentioned was that there couldn't be any leftovers, which my initial answer gave (10 spare slices of cheese). So let's try 8£1.88 + 12£2.15 giving £40.84

OP posts:
Sostenueto · 31/05/2018 23:05

I'll put you out of your miseries! I put this

15×8 packs of rolls @£1.88 per pack=15.04
20×12 packs of cheese slices@£2.15 =£25.80 so total if money spent is £40.84

Dgd said right answer but wrong workings out! Something about having to work by ratios not multiplying?ConfusedHmm and I wouldn't get marks for working out.

Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 23:06

Vegan? Where's the pleasure in an aubergine when there is cheese to be consumed!

OP posts:
Stickerrocks · 31/05/2018 23:07

Ok! I got there first Sost complete with my brief explanation of how I arrived at the figure for 105 sandwiches with 10 spare slices of cheese rather than 120 with no leftovers.

Cross posted stickerocks but I give you StarStars for tenacity and eventual right answer despite my cockup!
