I can't find a new thread, moving on from the old full one, so I thought I would create one (please tell me if I'm wrong!)

Last night ds stayed up till 4.30am doing his biology coursework Shock

This time the tsunami affect didn't work and he left it far too late to do a reasonable job. Which is a bloody shame because he wants to do biology A level and he has done so well in his other controlled assessments.

I wait with bated breath to find out his mark

Oh well, thank God for half term!!

Bampot that's terrible. She's affecting the learning of all her pupils in a negative way due to personal circumstances. I know now it's a bit late but what does the head teacher think about this? Have you filed an official complaint?

How did everybody do in today's exams? DS had PE, he said he thinks he did ok but that's the subject he's most likely to fail.

He's now gone out with friends to have some fun before hard core revision for English and Physics over the weekend.

pasanda · 19/05/2017 16:13

I've had a quick call from ds asking to go to a friends house. When asked how PE went I got 'it was alright, I'll tell you later' Grin

I wait with baited breath....

Alright is good 😊

Join the library and get the books out of the library or nip down to Waterstones.

choccyp1g · 19/05/2017 17:43

DS reports that Spanish reading was easy, but listening was hard.

Litcharts looks great! I showed dd and she actually said ooh this could be helpful. So thanks for that!

Laniakea · 19/05/2017 19:00

ah I'm glad someone else likes them! Which texts is she doing? DD has Macbeth, Lord of the Flies & Dr Jekyll. She's done (for her) a lot of work today. And the birthday cake is looking good Grin

errorofjudgement · 19/05/2017 19:17

I think they look really excellent. I might download them for DD but she has a 4 hr revision session at school tomorrow so I don't want to risk overwhelming her.

Laniakea · 19/05/2017 20:01

the revision session sounds good though error. DD has one at 7:45-8-45 before the exam starts at 9 Shock and then another one for an hour after the maths exam (she's not enthused about going to either).

I must put my poor neglected younger kids to bed!

Quadratilla · 19/05/2017 20:36

Another vote of thanks for LitCharts. DD also impressed. She was a bit reluctant to do more English Literature being thoroughly bored of it, but is now going through Lord of the Flies with her sister who has just started studying it. They sound very enthusiastic!

QueenofQuirkiness · 19/05/2017 20:59

DD says that her Latin exam was a bit crazy...involving a story about a snake killing everyone, a beautiful cow and soldiers raised from snake teeth Hmm only in Latin GCSE....
Whole weekend now to prepare for the all-important English and Maths, good luck all DC

BertrandRussell · 20/05/2017 06:59

That'll be Cadmus and the founding of Thebes and Zeus turning himself into beautiful animals to seduce mortals again! Such a git he was......

Decorhate · 20/05/2017 12:25

Thanks for the tip about Litcharts. Even the free stuff looks useful.

BertrandRussell · 20/05/2017 12:41

I was just coming on to say that ds has just emerged from his room raving about LitCharts. He tried using them online, but he's printed them off now and apparently they are much better in hard copy-we joined, printed off the ones we need and the ones a couple of friends need and we'll unjoin shortly.

Sprog19 · 20/05/2017 13:25

Yep Ds is printing off Merchant of Venice as I type! I'm pretty impressed with them, I have to say.

AtiaoftheJulii · 20/05/2017 14:03

Everyone seems to have Eng Lit this week - are we all the same boards or different? Ds is OCR. Doing War of the Worlds and Never Let Me Go on Monday, poetry (conflict) and Macbeth on Friday.

GiraffeorOcelot · 20/05/2017 14:13

DS has AQA english lit, he is doing Macbeth, History Boys and The Sign of the Four and the War and conflict poems. Embarrassingly I am not sure which one is Monday and which is on Friday.

He did no revision this morning, I woke him at 10 as agreed but he was completely shattered so I let him sleep until just before he went to work this afternoon. He has agreed to do two hours when he gets back without complaint so fingers crossed.

BertrandRussell · 20/05/2017 14:22

Ds is AQA- English Monday and Friday as well.Shakespeare and 19th Century novel on Monday-whatever the rest is on Friday.

Gnome134 · 20/05/2017 14:35

DS doing AQA English lit. The paper 1 on Monday is Macbeth and A Christmas Carol, and paper 2 on Friday is the poetry and An inspector calls ( I know different schools doing different texts).
The different exam boards generally put their subjects on the same days to enable schools to do a mixture of boards but minimise any clashes.

GiraffeorOcelot · 20/05/2017 14:38

Thanks, BertrandRussell, I now know what is on which day!

LitCharts doesn't cover The Sign of Four though sadly.

BertrandRussell · 20/05/2017 14:40

I wish ds was doing Macbeth. He's so angry with Romeo that I don't trust him not to go into a rant about all the romantic stuff he says being bullshit and just a way to get a shag and what an arse he is...........

AtiaoftheJulii · 20/05/2017 14:43

Didn't have War of the Worlds either - although I did offer ds The Way of the World instead Grin

Yeah, some do coincide, and then others like science are completely different!

pasanda · 20/05/2017 15:37

Grin Bert!!

DS is busy studying MacBeth as we speak. He had heard of Litcharts and didn't want me to print anything off. He's using York notes instead. I think he felt he would get too bogged down if presented with too many approaches. Also felt looking at them might be a bit too late. Still, I can use them with dd when the time comes.

He didn't finish his PE yesterday Shock But his head of PE came round earlier (my best friends husband!) and they went over a few things and it seems he answered those OK.

Glad he never has to do PE again though!!

Merrylegs · 20/05/2017 15:47

Eng lit next week also (igcse) and no Shakespeare! I don't know why that makes me feel slightly uneasy, but if I ask dd again ('are you SURE there's no Shakespeare??) I fear I shall meet a v Macbethian end.
