Continuing from the year 12 - 13 thread.

Good luck with continuing studies, uni open days, driving tests, etc.

Oh and I meant to say her younger brother said in that under-stated younger brother way "that probably means your personal statement and your reference were quite good" Smile

HSMMaCM · 10/12/2016 08:39

UCAS form still not completed here! I have pointed out that we're getting close to the deadline and her teachers really do not want to be dealing with this after Christmas.

Drama exam next week - the usual major stresses about people not turning up for rehearsals.

OP posts:
JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/12/2016 08:55

I'd think getting the UCAS form off before Christmas would be a good aim for anyone now - if your school will play ball too and you aren't over-run with Christmas concerts/plays etc. Judging by our experience you could still get an offer or two to think about over the hols and help you feel things were on their way/in process?
But I gather there are quite a lot of applications received right up to the deadline in January? So DD tells me school have said.
Hoping to be helpful and not smug here, though we are a bit pleased to have offers!

ono40 · 10/12/2016 10:24

Well done to your DD Juggling, such a relief when the first one comes in!

TheMortificadosDragon · 10/12/2016 10:27

According to this, the 'vast majority' apply in January. MN threads are not representative!

HSMMaCM · 10/12/2016 10:31

I don't really care when everyone else does theirs Grin. I just want it done, so I can stop nagging asking about it.

OP posts:
JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/12/2016 11:15

That was an interesting read Dragon, pretty reassuring all round I would think. Like you say gives a different impression from life on Mumsnet threads.

Good luck with the nagging anyway HSMM - and with the drama drama's

bigTillyMint · 11/12/2016 17:35

Don't blame you at all, HSM! Hope her Drama goes well.

Friends DS's have been for their Oxbridge interviews - sounded quite terrifying and definitely not something DD would have coped with. Crossing fingers and thumbs for them mid-Jan now.

Glad to hear Juggling's DD has nice offers. It's all happening!

TheMortificadosDragon · 11/12/2016 18:12

DD had her cambridge interviews last week - one was very nice, did maths in it; the other.... lets just say she's been looking at the details of the Southampton accommodation since! But I get the impression that most of the oxbridge interviews are good cop/bad cop and no-one has a clue how they did.

HSMMaCM · 12/12/2016 18:42

Please can everyone pray, cross your fingers, stroke a rabbits foot, lay out your crystals, or whatever your preference is, for DD's drama exam tomorrow. They're going to need all the help they can get.

Thanks.

Anyone else got exams, interviews, or whatever that they need extra support for?

OP posts:
TheMortificadosDragon · 12/12/2016 18:52

Are we supposed to say, "break a leg?"Grin good luck!

HSMMaCM · 12/12/2016 20:26

Yes, break a leg would be appropriate, but given that she's been injured for much of her dance btec, I'd rather not take the chance Grin

OP posts:
JugglingFromHereToThere · 12/12/2016 20:34

Lighting my crystals and crossing my rabbit's feet for her right now HSM Smile
Hope it all goes really well Flowers

HSMMaCM · 12/12/2016 20:47

Thanks juggling. I get the pleasure of going to watch, because they need an audience, so I might be on the wine tomorrow night.

OP posts:
JugglingFromHereToThere · 12/12/2016 21:31

Would you like a glass now HSM? Wine
Though actually we have a bottle of cider open ATM if you'd like to share that?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 12/12/2016 21:38

Oh, and DD just had an offer come through from Royal Holloway.
Granny (DM) will be pleased Smile

We are imagining her (DM) getting similar news 60 odd years ago, or most likely (back then) a letter inviting her for interview.

Thankfully no interview required for DD, but an applicant day could be fun and interesting.

teta · 12/12/2016 22:06

Hsmm good luck for your DD Smile.
Juggling I bet your Mum will be thrilled.
I have a really bad cold and bronchitis so am treating myself to a medicinal Whiskey and Chicken Soup ( not together).
Congratulations to all for the many offers.
Please cross everything for dd at her Liverpool interview on Thursday.I need to get back by lunch time as ds1 is doing a reading at his Carol Concert in a very big Church ( but is not nervous at all luckily)

bigTillyMint · 13/12/2016 06:29

Good Luck to HSM's DD and Teta's DD. I guess you aren't far away, Teta, if you have to get back by lunchtime!

What a lot of A'level related stress just before Christmas - DD is buckling a bit due to mocks straight after the holidays. An interview/practical would tip her right over the edge!

HSMMaCM · 13/12/2016 07:31

Teta- good luck to your dd.

Juggling - my mum wanted dd to apply to her old dance college. She would have been thrilled to see her go there (probably so she could go back and visit), but it's not going to happen.

Dd went in early for a 7:30 rehearsal this morning! She is not a morning person ... nor is DH, who had to drive her Grin. The exam is at 5pm WineCake

OP posts:
ono40 · 13/12/2016 08:50

HSM, wishing your DD luck for her drama exam today! If all else fails, reach for the Rescue Remedy (for yourself if nothing else).

Teta, hope the Liverpool interview goes well.

aginghippy · 13/12/2016 10:59

Same here Tilly, mocks in January, so she will spend most of the holiday period revising worrying.

I have agreed to let her have a NYE party here. Now I'm not sure why Grin

HSMMaCM · 13/12/2016 11:44

Hippy dd has mocks in January too.

I'll be thinking of you on NYE and then next morning. I am always agreeing to things and then wondering why Grin

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 13/12/2016 11:47

HippyShockShockShock

Though DD did have a pre-party party here last NYE and there were no problems that I know of!

HSMMaCM · 13/12/2016 12:36

Dd went on her boyfriends 18th birthday pub crawl on Saturday. She was up until 4am at his house, putting everyone to bed and allocating buckets. She said she's not going to do that when she's 18. I bet his mum was thrilled she'd offered to let everyone stay the night.

OP posts:
aginghippy · 13/12/2016 13:23

DP and I are getting earplugs. If anybody will be putting everyone to bed and allocating buckets it will be dd Wink
