I haven't looked at Ds1 timetable after half term. I don't know if I will survive it! I hate exams and they seem worse when they are the kids.

Ds1 didn't like the maths paper today (edexcel higher). He said he wasn't happy afterwards. By the time he went up to his room it was 3-4 questions but there were a few marks.

The Latin cheered him up though. Grin I asked him how he felt about Latin a level instead of maths and got the look. I think that plans out. Wink

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2016 21:52

9-12 exams in a week sounds like crazy talk!
I think dd has 11 left after half term, but fairly well spread out across the 3 weeks.
We watched the 1963 film of the Lord of the Flies tonight. I thought it was just a gruesome tale of kids gone bad, but apparently there is loads of symbols in it and it's much more profound than I thought. I feel all educated Grin

Yeah. There's more than one exam board involved, and I think just an unlucky combination of subjects. He hasn't had as many exams as other people's DC so far.

When I was at university we had some shocking timetabling for our finals. The university did it in subject blocks, so you got all your finals in one week. Some of my friends had 7 finals in 3 days (because that's how their options worked out). I had split finals so I didn't have to try to fit 4 exams into the week allocated for my subject.

2gorgeousboys · 26/05/2016 22:16

It's reassuring to hear that others found Edexcel maths difficult too, DS1 sent me a text after the exam to say it was "awful". We had a nightmare morning before his exam, I was woken up at 7am by DS1 telling me that he couldn't find his protractor and thought someone must have stolen it yesterday. I decided 2 hours before his exam was not the time for a lecture about looking after his possessions so we did an emergency Tesco dash!

English lit poetry for us tomorrow and then we are going away for the weekend.

Icouldbeknitting · 26/05/2016 22:31

Tomorrow DS hits the 50% completion mark, after that it's six exams the first week back, three the following week and then it's summer.

My recycling bin goes out on Tuesday, I predict that it will be full of GCSE english literature.

raspberryrippleicecream · 26/05/2016 22:36

We are nowhere near that Icouldbe. Five out of sixteen written papers. Photography and Drama competed in advance would bring it up a bit I suppose.

FantasyAndHope · 26/05/2016 22:37

DD has 12 after holidays due to history and an extra paper in geography. English Lit tomorrow AIC but dd hasnt revised for it she said you can't really you either get it or you dont, if its a bad passage they have a book, the exam is only 45mins

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 26/05/2016 23:23

I think dd has 11 in the two weeks after half term, so we are not quite half way through.

She was persuaded by a friend to look at a marked maths paper on t'interweb and thinks she may not have done as badly as first thought. But if a lie in on the morrow. Yeah.

ShanghaiDiva · 26/05/2016 23:37

LAST IGCSE EXAM TODAY!
Ds finishes today and then just has an AS maths paper on 15th June. Yesterday he threw out 30 Kgs of past papers, revision notes and exercise books!
He has English today (Inspector and all my sons) which should be okay.
Good luck to everyone with exams today!

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 26/05/2016 23:39

How many forests have been ruined for these exams Grin

ShanghaiDiva · 26/05/2016 23:43

Yes - should have fewer exams and save trees :)

Trufflethewuffle · 27/05/2016 07:04

Just looked at the timetable. After today, DS3 will have done 18 individual papers and will have 5 left after half term.
Almost a two week break after English today, next one is maths on Thursday the 9th. We are going away for a few days this afternoon.
DS1 and DS2 finish on the 15th, DS3 the 17th.
It is going faster than I thought it would. We are all looking forward to a much needed break.

starfleet · 27/05/2016 07:24

10 down here and 12 to go after half term.

Friday 17th June is the last day of exams for DS. He has 3 papers - two physics and the final geography.

ShanghaiDiva · 27/05/2016 07:32

Finished - iGCSEs are over for ds!
English was ok this am :)
He still has one AS maths exam on the 15th, but it's his strongest paper so he's not really stressed about that. He's back in timetable next week will start his other A level courses.

HesMyLobster · 27/05/2016 07:33

DD is only a quarter of the way through. 6 down, 14 to go after half term.
Hers are relatively well spaced out though - 6 the first week back, then 5, then 3.
Poetry today which she seems fairly calm about.
Good Luck everyone!

HesMyLobster · 27/05/2016 07:34

Oops! That should have been 5 down, 15 to go!
I would never have passed that maths exam yesterday! Wink

littledrummergirl · 27/05/2016 07:37

9 down 11 to go. 9 of the week after half termShock none today though so ds1 is having a good lie in.
Good luck everyone with exams today.

Iwantacampervan · 27/05/2016 07:48

English Lit this morning (poetry) - that will be 13 down and 13 more to go! A busy week after half term and then it tails off (6, 4, 1, 1).
We need half term to relax and sleep. Good luck to everyone and enjoy a week off.

hewl · 27/05/2016 07:49

10 after half term, 5 a week so not too bad.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/05/2016 08:23

Morning all,
two hour english lit paper today for dd. She has woken up with a cough, so had to take in a bottle of water. I'm paranoid that she is going to spill it all over the exam paper!

Last official day at school for her. eep.

2Gorgeous- Nightmare!!

Shanghai - brilliant!! its nearly over!

BitOutOfPractice · 27/05/2016 08:31

DD only has 6 after half term. 2 history, 1 maths, 3 science. Hers seem to have been more front loaded.

Very nervous about poetry today.

maxtrue · 27/05/2016 08:41

Morning!

Feeling incredibly emotional today, little bit of eye water here!

Sparked by a thread in chat about leavers, my dd's graduation this afternoon so I need to hold it together. Eng lit first.Things will change as some of my fav her friends will leave to study A levels elsewhere. She is fine as her best mates are staying on.

My son is leaving primary in a few weeks, thats it after 10 years at that sodding school, no more volunteering for cakes, stalls, helpers etc. what will I do with my time Grin

Change gotta roll with it I know but its tough. Plus windows updated me to v10 without my permission ggrrrr

dowhatnow · 27/05/2016 08:58

Dd was moaning about sitting in front of a particular girl in a couple of exams. Apparently her constant sniffing was really distracting. She thinks she'll be there for English lit this morning. I've suggested she asks about moving but she won't.

11 down, 10 to go after this morning.

fidelix · 27/05/2016 09:03

DD has only 5 exams left, and 10.5 days to prepare, so a big relief after the panic of recent weeks. 15 exams done already.

Wish DD had had longer to prepare for those exams but there you go...

needastrongone · 27/05/2016 09:09

max I would be more emotional about the Windows 10 thing than the rest of the stuff Grin

Caused untold chaos at work, same scenario as yours....

Poetry today, not DS's favourite subject....
