Dd was really pleased with English, she had revised both characters really well.

maxtrue · 23/05/2016 19:25

thanks catslife she went to boarding school so maybe it was different?

Just found out exam went well dd sat down and went through the questions - it was the mice and men and inspector calls (which i only just watched for the first time last year and what a great story!)
-phew she said she knew where the quotes where in the book if she couldn't remember them - this I have only learnt from you lot!

The bomb scares are very worrying and really hope they are all false ones but shit for the exam takers. Not sure if I could finish an exam once interrupted like that

BlueGazebo · 23/05/2016 19:28

DS also doing WJEC drama tomorrow and AQA Geog.

IGCSE English Lit sounded pretty weird today... the poem was Lady and a Fox by Beatrice Garland... all kinds of strange interpretations from the sound of it - prostitution, bestiality, male lover, fur coat ...

NicknameUsed · 23/05/2016 20:02

DD just told me that the beginning of the exam was a complete farce. Not enough foundation papers had been printed. Some of the students had been given the wrong answer booklets and one set had read An Inspector Calls instead of the short stories and they handed the wrong books out. The invigilator shouted at the head of year and the students were giggling.

Mysillydog · 23/05/2016 20:58

CIE igcse done today. The children were a bit thrown by the format of the exam because they had to wade through lots of questions to find the texts they had prepped for and hadn't seen past papers because previous specifications were very different. Dd finished her essays which was encouraging but has no idea how she did. She's aiming for a B/C.

Dd had written essays on both characters over the weekend!

littledrummergirl · 23/05/2016 21:49

I don't want to think about Ds1 % he still has 5 this week and 6 next.

I've just had a conversation with ds1 to reassure him that if he is evacuated during an exam not to worry, there will be a contingency plan.
Latin and geography tomorrow. His Latin teacher emailed some revision to him today so he has some structure to his last minute study.
I'm really impressed by his teachers they have been so supportive and encouraging. I think I need to find a way to say thank you.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/05/2016 01:04

Geography for DS today - alternative to fieldwork and DS finds this paper pretty easy.
We are in China so all exams are Cambridge IGCSE, for the pp who asked about boards, but there seems to be quite an overlap with the UK boards as DS also has an inspector calls for literature and Jekyll and Hyde.
Good luck to everyone with exams today!

marmiteloversunite · 24/05/2016 07:33

Good luck everyone for today. DD has Latin which is a tricky one. Hope you all have a good day.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/05/2016 07:43

No exams today here but good luck to all that do Flowers

Had a row with DD's head of English yesterday. She has been so badly let down by this school. Can't wait for her to leave

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2016 07:43

Systems and Geography today for dd.

Good luck everyone for today.

We just had the evacuation chat. dd had read the aqa special consideration page, so is content with proceedure and impact.

Igcse aqa geography paper1 today
This is DDs weakness physical geography

lbab1702 · 24/05/2016 08:11

Textiles this morning, geography this afternoon. DD's two least good subjects. Stress levels are high this morning, and little sleep last night.

HesMyLobster · 24/05/2016 08:17

Drama today, DD has skipped off in good spirits despite the nerves.

Good Luck today all with exams,
Have a peaceful rest and revision day those that don't!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 24/05/2016 08:19

AQA geography paper 1 physical geography this afternoon here as well. Another foundation paper for DS2. He's found geography really difficult.

Sounds horrible, BitOutOfPractice. Sad

Maladicta · 24/05/2016 08:29

Sorry to hear that Bit - English is so important, it's infuriating when they screw up the teaching Angry

AQA Geography here as well, dd still fast asleep so no idea how she feels Grin

Any of you planning post-exam treats?? Was trying to think of something special to do for her.

NorbertDentressangle · 24/05/2016 08:29

Textiles and geography here too.

I'm worried about the geography and I think DD is too. She had a panic this morning as she'd lost her case study notes which she wanted to take to school for a bit of last minute revision. When I asked when she last had them I expected her to say yesterday but she said last week!! Isn't this exam purely based on case studies (AQA).

lbab I don't know about you but I've been surprised by how much work there has been to do for textiles.

marmiteloversunite · 24/05/2016 08:34

Maladicta we are planning a BBQ and sleepover for after the exams. Think it is nice to do something to celebrate.

dowhatnow · 24/05/2016 08:49

Geography this afternoon too. Revision all morning at school. Study leave doesn't start till after half term.

PeaceOfWildThings · 24/05/2016 08:54

DD just said it's a good job she's not doing English for A level.

Latin prose starting in a few minutes and Geography this afternoon.

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 24/05/2016 09:04

DD has been badly let down by her Systems teacher. She started out with so much enthusiasm for the subject and we thought she might head towards engineering for a career, but he has switched her off to the extent that she is not even sure if she will pass the exam Sad. I've told her we will pretend she never took the exam. She will still get 10 GCSEs.

She has to stay in isolation after the exam until she does her Latin this pm.

hewl · 24/05/2016 09:09

Dd has a day off today. She's actually really quite enjoying the exams! Maths on Thursday may mean the end of that however.

hewl · 24/05/2016 09:10

Sorry if this has already been asked. What's the difference between gcses and igcses?
