Fantasy she was doing the AQA paper in Biology on Tuesday. She is revising for English lit next week now. We had a nice break watching the dvd this morning.

FantasyAndHope · 19/05/2016 14:11

DD is a different paper to your DD then marmite DD did do a biology paper on Tuesday but it was igcse
DD has two lit exams next week

LineyReborn · 19/05/2016 14:28

I think chemistry was ok, ie the paper bore resemblance to the taught syllabus.

Unfortunately for OH's DS (with ASD), his special school transport that was agreed and booked didn't turn up. OH got him there (late), but it affected his performance, and he isn't able to attend his exam this afternoon and god knows what will happen tomorrow morning.

needastrongone · 19/05/2016 14:35

Oh Liney, how awful for the poor lad, I would be taking that up in the strongest possible way. Bloody hell, the last thing he needed.

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/05/2016 14:42

DS1 is doing two CIE iGCSE Chemistry papers this afternoon. Paper 2 will probably be OK, but he has been dreading Paper 4 (Extended Theory) and he went in expecting to be able to answer less than half of it.

Hopefully things will feel a bit easier after this afternoon. He still has ten more papers to go, but the remaining ones are the sort where he will be able to give a reasonable attempt at completing them.

I have grown to dislike CIE and I'm glad DS2 isn't studying any of their specifications.

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/05/2016 14:45

Liney that's terrible. The resulting stress would throw any young person, let alone one on the autistic spectrum.

derektheladyhamster · 19/05/2016 14:52

Chemistry was fine - good job, he needs an A*!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/05/2016 15:26

it had hydrogen on it? yes!! dd gave me a massive lesson on hydrogen. She knows that stuff. I think she is staying for after school revision, so will be ages yet before I find out.

Liney, how awful for the poor lad. Really rotten for him. Was it practical reasons that stopped him this afternoon or was it al too much?

I hope your dd comes home feeling more positive gingerbeer.

Dd had aqa chemistry unit 1 this morning and said it was fine and she knows she answered an equation correctly.

NicknameUsed · 19/05/2016 16:03

DD sad this morning's chemistry was easy.

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/05/2016 16:20

needastrongone sixth form generally want B at least as minimum, You need to show some knowledge of you want to do an A level in it.

Dd1 happy with today's chemistry & Law.

catslife · 19/05/2016 16:27

No exams for dd today. She has been to some revision classes. Her comment is "why aren't there any aiming for a B classes" they are usually "aim for A/A*" or "securing a grade C".
sorry to hear that liney sounds as if communication has got very confused there, hope you get it sorted both for tomorrow and the rest of his exams.

LineyReborn · 19/05/2016 16:50

It is terrible, isn't it? The poor kid, seriously.

We're hopeful he'll be in for an English exam tomorrow morning. Everything else was too much for him today.

The school admin cocked up and don't seem that bothered. Me, I am very bothered.

We found a caring tutor who is helping with tomorrow's arrangements.

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/05/2016 17:52

DS1 has completed two subjects now. For each subject, he thinks his grade will be the same as the initial letter. Let's hope this pattern doesn't continue with next week's English literature.

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/05/2016 17:55

catslife If they had 'securing a B grade' that would be perfect for DS1.

Icouldbeknitting · 19/05/2016 18:07

Liney I would also be very bothered. All his effort is for nothing if he doesn't get to sit the paper. Presumably he's now going to be anxious each time until the taxi shows - it's not exactly a performance enhancer is it?

FantasyAndHope · 19/05/2016 18:33

DDs worst week is next week it's an exam every day
We have igcse maths, physics geography and two English lit papers

NicknameUsed · 19/05/2016 18:51

That's a tough week Fantasy. I hope she does well.

Liney I hope the transport issues don't put your son off his stride too much. We are in a rural area and the buses can be a bit hit and miss so I am taking DD to school on days that she has a morning exam.

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/05/2016 18:53

Another Latin tomorrow. Then it's Whit Friday which means local chaos. Although the weather forecast is not brilliant.

swingofthings · 19/05/2016 18:58

The school admin not that bothered? What would have happened if your OH couldn't have taken him? I assume your OH will complain and hope they get told that not bothering isn't good enough.

FantasyAndHope · 19/05/2016 19:06

A very tough week DD is most worried about maths and physics there is a pattern with the Igcse edexcel papers (most recent ones) it seems to be whoever is writing them has changed the layout and is putting harder questions near the start and it's a bit of a confidence issue for most kids apparently

Nyama · 19/05/2016 19:31

Dd had had an exam every day and Spanish tomorrow. She's looking tired. She is dreading next week, her first maths and English papers.

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/05/2016 19:54

Dd has been snoozing all afternoon. Meant to be revising Latin. It is wearing. And three more weeks.

catslife · 19/05/2016 19:55

Thesecond that would be the ideal course for dd too as that's her target for most subjects. (Although there could be the odd A or C).

FantasyAndHope · 19/05/2016 19:55

DD is panicking because one of her chemistry test asked for the test for oxygen and she forgot to write 'glowing' told her not to worry
