Dd is currently having a nap as she over did it a party last night. Last party before exams.

Not long now folks.

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/04/2016 16:34

DD2 is exactly the same it's all or nothing

I'm quite reassured that it's not just my teenager who is like this.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/04/2016 17:24

dd suddenly has taken to keeping her room tidy too. Long may it last. Today was 4 hours of revising and now its a gaming fest.

It's displacement activity isn't it?
Phew - now makes sense.
Had mentioned in passing a few weeks ago, we should measure up for some cupboards in DS bedroom, sort of thing he would never normally register or take an interest in.
Today he was insistent we should find the measure etc.
Completely out of character.
Which I found puzzling,
TG for MN!

I am finding ds is having to take days off school to attend appernship assment days gurr

And he is having to keep up with his army cadets so he has it for his cv and can talk about in in his interviews and he's just taken on DofE little bit worried

Had to surgically remove ds phone from him for the next couple of months until exams are fished he gets to have it at weekends providing we actively see him studying

Also fucked off with the school for having prom on the same day as his English exam

derektheladyhamster · 24/04/2016 21:55

DS had a monster of a migraine today and has spent all day in bed. I'm just relieved it wasn't a school day. I just hope it doesn't happen on an exam day, as he said he wouldn't have been able to do an exam if he had one as bad as today's.

The boy he sits next to in English had watched exactly the same you tube videos on their poems so they had exactly the same notes, he got an A in his last essay which should please his teacher. He was predicted Bs for his exams Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/04/2016 09:48

derek, I wonder if it is worth going to see the gp again to see if anything emergency can be put in place?
I'm taking dd to the opticians - she is getting repeated headaches but realised that they eased somewhat when she put her glasses on. Hopefully a new pair worn more, will help a lot.

Cats - thats a lot to juggle, but hopefully it will pay off.

dd announced today that her last exam is in 60 days....

First exam for DS tomorrow - ICT practical iGCSE with CIE :O
Written exams start next week on Tuesday.

Icouldbeknitting · 25/04/2016 10:38

Three weeks to go for us, I know this because there's a countdown on the kitchen calendar. He's not going to like it at the weekend when I turn over the page to May and the exams are there, waiting. (Insert theme from "Jaws" here)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/04/2016 10:41

Good luck to your ds for tomorrow Shangai. Written exams start next Tuesday for dd too. Last night she was lamenting that they have done all of the past papers for the English language IGCSE and she has no idea now how to revise for it.

In my mind, the impending exams have the Imperial March from Star Wars as their theme tune.

ShanghaiDiva · 25/04/2016 13:28

Thanks Kitten.
Ds took English iGCSE last year and said much the same thing, not sure really what they can do.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/04/2016 13:36

In my mind I have 'Wheels on Fire' sung Ab Fab style Confused

Confused
Icouldbeknitting · 26/04/2016 19:16

We've had a quick visit to next year's sixth form college this afternoon. I make that our third visit since November with a two day induction yet to come. I'm not worried about him finding his way around in September because every time we've been we've seen some more of the building. Parts of it date back to the 1800s but the majority of it is shiny new modern construction.

I hope it's all gone well today ShanghaiDiva, that's one exam closer to finishing.

ExitPursuedByABear · 26/04/2016 19:19

Why so many visits?

TheSecondOfHerName · 26/04/2016 21:18

DS1 has gone out to a rugby dinner with a team he doesn't even play for any more.

littledrummergirl · 26/04/2016 21:25

Ds1 sent home from school today as he was poorly. Looks like he will be home tomorrow as well. Sad

Icouldbeknitting · 26/04/2016 21:37

We did an extra open night because my husband couldn't get to the first one. I think this week equates to a visit for offer holders and then they have two induction days after exams finish.

HesMyLobster · 26/04/2016 22:14

Second - I have an ex-rugby playing dh. He still attends functions of teams he hasn't played on for 10+ years! I think there's very much a "once a team mate, always a team mate" attitude! That and any excuse for a few beers of course!

Drummer, hope your ds feels better soon and it's nothing too serious.

DD has had a frustrating day today. French lesson was taken up with going over the oral exam (which they did before Easter) and she considered that a waste of time as its too late to change anything now. Then they were left teacher-less in English (her teacher left just before Easter and they've had a succession of cover teachers - today's didn't turn up) then she had pe and rs (both compulsory and not GCSE subjects for her)
She says she'd have had a more productive day if she'd come home straight after history which was first lesson.
It felt like a giant waste of her time when she still has hours of maths and science revision she could have been doing.
I have to say I understand her frustration. Exam leave seems like a good idea suddenly!

HesMyLobster · 26/04/2016 22:17

Ps Second the impending exams now have the Star Wars Empire theme music in my head too! Grin

Shanghai how did the exam go?
