Here we are everyone.

I'm paid to be resourceful. I'm a childminder Grin. Seriously though I have so many role play props I can generally find or make something.

You will be asked for a human skull next HSMM. Grin

dd3 has C2 today and I greatly annoyed her by asking if she had remembered her calculator. I hope it isn't another stinker like the previous OCR papers.

Roll on half term. Good luck to the maths, history and drama students.

Helenluvsrob · 25/05/2016 08:58

HSM well done re props!

I really feel for this cohort. Ours is a really academic organised school (s- boys and girls) and the older 2 knew exactly what they were facing and how to approach things right from the start. DD2 chose her subjects when english was still " well we re assume this text will still be in but we haven't been told" for instance , and they didn't know how the AS/A2 would run alongside each other or even if they've have to take 4x A2s to get any credit for the 4th subject at all. Nightmare!

Clearly they have done their best- english are teaching the A2 alongside AS and some of the texts will carry over etc but still.

I'm torn between " its so crap they are bound to do badly " and " they 'll probably want it all to be a success and so there will be leeway".

AND I have a bad mother award in hand- we are away on results day ....

Helenluvsrob · 25/05/2016 08:59

Human skull we can do.... Mind you it's real so if it was my DD she'd probably get arrested on the bus!

stonecircle · 25/05/2016 09:00

Limey - I'm now saying, 'have you got a spare calculator'! DS's ran out of battery in yesterday's physics exam! He was really up against the clock and quite upset that the invigilator who came over when he put his hand up was a) amused by his predicament and b) 'sauntered' down to the front and back again with a spare .

He's gone off to C2 this morning with a shiney new one which is battery AND solar power operated!!

LittlehumHams · 25/05/2016 09:02

I wonder how many people on MN could lay their hands on a skull at short notice? Resourceful mother award also goes to you Helen.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/05/2016 09:29

I wish I could cross the exams off the calender as soon as I've dropped her off at school Truffle - because of course you're right and there's really little/nothing you can do at that point.
But here I am nervously Mumsnetting with a warming and cheering cuppa Brew whilst DD faces whatever C2 Maths has in store for her on the other side of town.
Perhaps I could light a candle for her to help my thoughts and prayers for her travel upwards?
I have limited faith that it would make a difference, but I guess it might if I told her about it - and I feel the need to do something!
What does everyone else do, if anything?

HSMMaCM · 25/05/2016 09:30

Helen if I'm ever asked for a skull I will be in touch (it will save me trying to make one with a balloon and newspaper).

DD has 2 calculators both the same for calculator exams.

LittlehumHams · 25/05/2016 09:42

You are all freaking me out with the extra batteries and calculators expiring stories. What if it happens? Shock I'm usually good at worrying about such things.

Abraid2 · 25/05/2016 09:47

My daughter only went off with one calculator!

[tears clothing]

OddBoots · 25/05/2016 09:51

At my ds's college they have a supply of calculators to hand in case something happens. Having your own is ideal but most schools/colleges will have a back up plan.

aginghippy · 25/05/2016 09:57

Thank goodness dd's calculator has solar power. Now I can worry about something else Wink

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/05/2016 10:18

A bit overcast this morning though ageinghippy? Wink

OddBoots · 25/05/2016 10:20

We don't need to be stressing each other out, we've got teenagers to do that for us! Grin Grin Grin

Horsemad · 25/05/2016 10:21

Grin at Juggling!

DS is doing some last minute reading for this afternoon's History exam.

ono40 · 25/05/2016 10:56

Lol at us all stressing.

HSM, wish you were my neighbour as the DCs always say at bedtime 'oh by the way I need [insert hard to find object here] for tomorrow'.

My friend came round yesterday and sang happy birthday at the door. Shame she got the day completely wrong (out by 3 days, not just the one!!) We had such a laugh and of course we had to have some Wine to pull ourselves together!

LineyReborn · 25/05/2016 11:00

DS just phoned, to moan about his giff gaff contract.

Never mind that, I said, how did the maths exam go? Oh it was ok, he said.

Which means he thought it went quite well. Thank goodness.

LittlehumHams · 25/05/2016 11:02

dd3 says the C2 OCR exam was much easier than C1. Only one tricky question. Smile

OddBoots · 25/05/2016 11:05

DS's verdict on OCR C2 is 'brilliant paper' but based on GCSE comments on exam day and actual results he isn't the best judge of these things, for better or for worse.

teta · 25/05/2016 11:11

I've just had dd1 on the phone in tears saying shes done really badly in the c2 paper. But everyone else found it fine.So I guess she's feeling really lonely and tearful. She doesn't do the Ocr board but the other one ( who's name escapes me).

LineyReborn · 25/05/2016 11:15

Excel?

LineyReborn · 25/05/2016 11:16

dingit · 25/05/2016 11:16

Oh gawd. not heard from Dd. Is that good or bad news?

OddBoots · 25/05/2016 11:19

dingit - neither, she is probably chatting with her mates or the maths teacher has come to ask about it. You would have heard if it was terrible.

OddBoots · 25/05/2016 11:21

teta - sorry to hear she was in tears, hopefully that was just a bit of overflow stress and it wasn't as bad as she thought.
