Here we are everyone.

Pressed to soon.

But I'm certain the teachers will have contingencies for cast members being sick, injured etc. maybe teacher will read the missing part? Bugger for physical theatre though.

Abraid2 · 21/05/2016 08:10

When it works well it is great to see the group working well together and supporting one another. I think they can really learn a lot from the process about teamwork. Very useful for future working life.

GetAHaircutCarl · 21/05/2016 08:18

abraid indeed.

I'm also exceptionally grateful that DD has this group as it made the transition to a new school so much easier: a close, like minded gang on tap.

That said as a subject it's hugely time consuming! What with all the practice and all the theatre visits etc.

HSMMaCM · 21/05/2016 09:03

Abraid I'm telling them that today 'more drama happens off stage than on'. I might share it with the drama teacher too, who is getting a lot of flack from parents at the moment Grin.

I just asked DD what would happen if a cast member couldn't take part and she says she doesn't know exactly but it is doable as it happened in the U6 A2 group last year apparently.

The group still got an excellent mark.

PurpleAlerts · 21/05/2016 10:05

Drama is a difficult one if there are members of the group who are less invested.

DD wants to go further with Drama and has been increasingly frustrated by some members of her group who seem to have taken Drama as they thought it would be an easy option. Hmm. They had their moderation a few weeks ago and it seemed to go well. Apparently they aren't really judged as a group so fingers crossed as some of her group had very obviously put it so much more effort than others...

Geog skills went well yesterday but DD doubts it will be enough to pull up the grade to anything half decent as the main paper went so disastrously.

Last two exams on Monday- Music and Psychology 2. Heavy day especially as DD gets 25% extra time. Then she is free for a month until Geog 4 which is an A2 skills paper they all take in year 12 (as it relates to the field work they have done recently.) All seems a bit pointless as she will undoubtedly be dropping Geography.

LittlehumHams · 21/05/2016 11:38

dd3 has the dreaded Music essays on Monday, followed by Physics on Tuesday and Maths on Wednesday.

She sat with us and watched 'Have I Got News For You' last night to cheer herself up. Gloomy faces, gloomy weather and gloomy time of year. I also ordered her favourite take-away. Now pondering what I can conjure up for a treat this weekend to take her mind off exams for an hour or so. Any ideas?

The Drams AS sounds like a complete nightmare. At least with music dd3 only has to worry about her own ability. Her duet was with a music teacher so there was no risk of being let down.

DH has just taken DS for a walk up to a local pub that does a big fancy breakfast then they went to the supermarket near it to pick up what they fancy for dinner tonight (Chinese style food in this case). We thought that getting some exercise (it is 20 mins up a hill then home again) and a treat would be a good distraction.

I stayed at home as I am also revising for my Open University finals - weekends are my best study time as I work in the week. DD (year 8) is on a school trip to Paris this weekend so she is out from under our feet (so to speak).

I know that seeing green things (!) is meant to be very good for mood and memory so as long as the weather isn't too terrible I think we might all go for a walk in some wood or parkland tomorrow, just for an hour or so.

Horsemad · 21/05/2016 12:24

60% of exams done here Smile DS is currently revising for History on Wednesday.

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2016 12:32

Good Luck to you OddBoots! Are the finals soon?

I think I am failing a bit on the "organising treats" front. But DD is with her mates (revisingWink) most of the timeConfused

I am going with DH and DS to DS's footy BBQ and awards later - that will be a good distraction for him (got P1 next week)

OddBoots · 21/05/2016 12:39

Thanks bTM, I have my exams over half term so thankfully not at the same time as DS has his.

If your DD doesn't need motivational treats then there is no failing. It's good when they are independent.

Horsemad · 21/05/2016 13:31

BTM - don't do what I did last week at DS's footy presentation... drank too much wine (on an empty stomach) and had to spend the following day in bed!!! Shock

I always tell DS not to do it when he goes to a party and didn't take my own advice! Grin

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2016 18:11

No chance of that Horse, I'm driving us home - why does DS have to be in a team 45mins from home?!

Horsemad · 21/05/2016 18:16

Yep, I should have driven and then wouldn't have had the hangover from Hell! 😁

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2016 18:25

I could do with a few drinks - sat in clubroom with the FA Cup on before the awards!

dingit · 21/05/2016 18:55

EAGLES! Grin

HSMMaCM · 21/05/2016 19:24

I think I'll be having a few drinks after I've collected DD later. I had a call from the drama teacher asking for her mobile number about half an hour after their rehearsal finished. DD says she'll update me later, but in summary she hates . I will reserve judgement until I hear the whole story.

Abraid2 · 21/05/2016 20:26

Ha!

Fairenuff · 21/05/2016 22:54

Horse ds has history too but it's on Tuesday, not Weds. Maybe they are different boards though.

Horsemad · 22/05/2016 07:14

AQA here Fairenuff. Just checked his timetable and is def Wed. Smile

bigTillyMint · 22/05/2016 07:26

Yes, DD has History (AQA) on Weds afternoon. From a look on her timetable on the fridge, all hers bar Eng Lit are AQA! She has Eco and Psych before that tomorrow though. Gulp.
