I am really sure we will get one of our six. But I just don't know which one. And I am now really worried I put them down in the wrong order. Our first choice had a stabbing incident after applications closed.

Ok, thank you for your quick responses. I have already added myself to the waiting list so will start with that. My son and I knew he would be accepted to our first choice as it isn't over subscribed, but i did not want to risk putting my 2nd and 3rd any higher as they both are over subscribed and i worried he would then get somewhere different altogether, maybe went about it all wrong as he was never going to get rejected from first choice really. So are you saying i can contact the school regarding the waiting list at any time? This school is independent also so to appeal i need to contact them directly.

I am so glad I go it wrong!

Thank you very much for the info on this, Really helpful. Yes its state but not under council, Local council Website says to contact school directly for any appeals. Ok well i'm on waiting list so will just have to keep up with contact and appeal in good time.

Second choice here, a bit disappointed for DS as he really wanted the first choice. Does anyone know if it's possible to find out where we are on the waiting list? We're in Staffordshire. I think there was 260 applicants for 150 places so would be interested to know if there's any chance at all.

kayskiuk · 01/03/2016 14:24

Excellent tiggytape thanks, always read Mumsnet threads when i google something but have never posted, thank so much for the advice, i may just do that, i could do with the help. :)

Good luck everyone. We went through this last year, and I received the email from Herts at around 3pm. They tried to time it just after school run (although I was actually in waitrose as ds had a club. I can remember every detail).

jollyjapes · 01/03/2016 14:45

Yup today is crawling. Not at work at the moment so no distractions. Had plans to be busy but friend cancelled (she will not be forgiven!!)

I'd be happy with choice 1 or 2, DS has heart set on 1st choice. Could well get 5 or 6.

RJsMa · 01/03/2016 14:49

does one automatically go on waiting lists? or do we need to add ourselves?

We got our first choice. Essex.

sunnydayinmay · 01/03/2016 16:02

Herts are out. StCD catchment seems huge compared to last year.

RJsMa · 01/03/2016 16:06

Not long now London, good thing because I can't take much more of this!! Congrats everyone who has heard and happy with results. Good luck everyone else (London, pre-appeal and waiting lists etc)

magichamster · 01/03/2016 16:08

Has anyone heard from Norfolk yet?

cuckoooo · 01/03/2016 16:19

In Herts. Oh dear oh dear. We got the email around 3.10pm.

We got the 4th choice school.

This school is the least academic of the lot - technically closer to home but most awkward to get to - i.e., 30 minute walk or 20 minute walk +20 minute bus ride.

When I did the tour, I did like it and had a gut feel that DS would be happy there but would not be good for him academically. It is also the school that both DS and DH refused to even do the tour as it had lower academics results.

DH called and asked if I heard and I don't have the heart yet to tell him or DS. I will just wait until this evening when DH is home.
