Only two more terms at school. Let's support each other support our DC in getting through to the end.

Physics EMPA here tomorrow so much gloom and despondency! Although he seems more worried about his driving test on Wednesday.

raspberryrippleicecream · 25/04/2016 19:33

Physics EMPA here tomorrow also, Morvah. DS seems fairly calm tonight though

hellsbells99 · 26/04/2016 09:19

Good luck for your DCs' physics Empas today. DD has her chemistry Empa today and part 2 of physics on Thursday, then a week's grace before the written Empa papers.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/04/2016 17:35

I hope all the EMPAs are going well. DS has the practical for his physics EMPA tomorrow. He's doing a lot of past papers for maths but perhaps not enough actual revision for physics.

Needmoresleep · 28/04/2016 18:04

The first A level is a week on Monday. (What is an international A level anyway - don't know but my daughter is doing one, which is possibly why it is so early.) Last is 28 June. It is going to be a long two months.

That is a huge ga between first and last exam, Needs. Must admit, I have never heard of an international A Level!

hellsbells99 · 28/04/2016 19:39

Last exam on the 28th June for DD as well - physics.

raspberryrippleicecream · 28/04/2016 22:57

Snap

hellsbells99 · 29/04/2016 00:09

It's going to be a long couple of months....

hellsbells99 · 01/05/2016 20:36

DD2 has finally firmed and insured her universities. Just realised that although DD1 and DD2 have chosen different firm choices, they will be moving in on the same weekend Shock
If DD2 doesn't get the grades for her 'firm', they may both be going to the same place!

LIZS · 03/05/2016 18:27

Ucas deadline fast approaching and think we're finally nearly there! Whittled down to 2 but not 100% decided on the order. If ds firms the offer with a promise of it going unconditional , does he also need to name an insurance ? Confused

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 03/05/2016 19:28

Ooooh helpful thread! Just popped in to DS's study to ask him if he has been asked to pay a deposit for chosen accommodation - he says not - have told to keep a weather eye on it!
Have younger DC doing GCSEs so tbh he has been our focus.

LIZS · 04/05/2016 12:37

DDay 1 is here - ds updated UCAS tracker last night and emailed admissions tutor to confirm the offer would be made unconditional. Now on to accommodation and finance.

LIZS · 04/05/2016 18:27

Another q if anyone is there! Uni have replied to say they have updated the offer to unconditional (yeah!) but it isn't showing on UCAS tracker yet. Would there be a delay?

LIZS · 04/05/2016 19:13

Panic over, tracker now updated Smile

MorvahRising · 04/05/2016 23:15

Eek! I seem to have killed the thread!

MorvahRising · 04/05/2016 23:18

That's odd, I posted and then a whole load of past posts appeared. iPad obviously gone a bit haywire. Very glad I haven't killed it!

28th June is our last exam too, physics.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 04/05/2016 23:28

DS has Physics last on the 28th as well. He's got an interview for a summer job with a software house tomorrow (sounds very grown up!) and his Physics EMPA part 2 on Friday.

Warwick don't appear to have opened their accommodation choices yet. And Exeter don't take accommodation choices if only insurance, though I expect that's pretty universal. Except I think Exeter are more probable than Warwick. Wibble!

raspberryrippleicecream · 04/05/2016 23:52

Physics Empa finished today here. DS finally registered on the Uni websites in anticipation of accommodation opening at his insurance (York) next week.

He is very lucky, York guarantee accommodation to firm and insurance!

buckingfrolicks · 05/05/2016 20:10

DS firmed Aberdeen and DS turned down BA Drama at Guldford for the RADA foundation. So at least that's that decided

Accommodation in Aberdeen is plentiful if not desirable. DD will commute to london.

Good idea about the deferred year Needmore

Dunlurking · 05/05/2016 21:04

EllenJane glad you've posted about Warwick and Exeter accommodation - they are the firm and insurance for my Ds as well and I've been nagging him about applying for the accommodation for weeks, just not believing him that it isn't open yet. Thank you!

Good Luck to everyone's dcs. We'll be talking about the individual papers on a day to day basis in no time at all. Help!

So what can't you avoid nagging about? Mine is to do Maths past papers. Some. Any!

Leeds2 · 05/05/2016 21:29

I keep well out of it, Dunlurking. I am not sure my advice would be heeded/appreciated! I will be very hay when it is all over though!

buckingfrolicks · 05/05/2016 21:50

There is precious little detectable revision in Bucking Manor.

Leeds2 · 05/05/2016 22:55

Sometimes, bucking, I wish there was a "like" button on MN!

BethanKate · 07/05/2016 21:46

Last exam Physics on 28th for us too. First is Mechanics 3 on May 18th.

Has firmed Warwick with Bristol as insurance so we too are waiting for Warwick accom to open. Finance all sorted. Would also like to see a bit more work going on but he says he's on top of things.
