Real car crash tv,I understand the Harrow series has led to a very large increase in applications, really cant see the same happening for Gordonstoun,we watch open mouthed at how bad the school is...
Anybody else watching it?

The school seems rather coy about leavers destinations, please could you list these top US unis that students went to in preference to Oxbridge, numbers at each etc if possible, thanks.
Im not slating it for academic results per se,what Im saying is that many schools that have a similar student body,ie non academically selective, get far better results and get far better uni destinations, value added if you like, its results compared to other non selective mixed boarding schools are not good...

Don't have all the details to hand. But I do know that seven students went to US universities. The one in the same house as my son has gone to Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston to study chemical engineering after getting A* grades in all his A levels including Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.Apparently he visited Oxford and found it stuffy and old fashioned. He also found the undergraduate students were broadly from a narrower range of backgrounds than he had expected and wanted a wider mix of backgrounds for his final choice. Of course this could be related to the two colleges he visited. Not saying I agree or disagree just passing on information.

Thanks,MIT is of course a top university, well done that boy, would like to know the level of the other 6,if they are all at that level (or just below) then might have to review my opinion...

I just stumble across this thread wile looking for a clip from the program and I'm a OG, boarding in years 12 & 13, english and fee paying. When I left they where building or renovating 3 barding houses and round square is no longer going to be used as a boarding house, I had friend who went to Le Rosey before hand and don't mind the difference in accommodation. I think if thats what you care abut it isn't for you.

In terms of the academia a large amount of people apply out side of the uk. Most people may not have gone for oxbridge, but are in a russell group uni. On a separate point in my year there was a problem with under predicting peoples grades, for me all of my predictions were two grades under what I achieved and this was a problem for my peers as well.

On a final note, my years there where the best of my life *so far. Boarding these days is very different to how it was, my Farther went at 7 & hated it. I was in a house with 30 of my close friends constantly getting up to various antics, what more could you want. I've kept in touch with most of them and my cousin once removed who left 15 years before has done the same, to this day.
