Is it too early to start a 2016 girls 11+ W/SW London thread?

What do we think? DD is sitting 11+ for various consortium schools in January 2016 and I am slightly desperate for a thread to compare notes, pat each others shoulders etc..... I lurked on last years thread, but it didn't start until much later....

Just booking up open day places and filling in my registration forms now.....

I am so glad it is over and dd did well with offers.
The thing I can't get over is how wiped/exhausted I am.
I have done all the entrance exams: 7 plus, 8 plus, pre-testing,
CE. The 11 plus is hands down the worst/most draining.

Never again…..

Coffeeismycupoftea · 22/02/2016 16:18

Why so Almostdone?

We've only done 11+ and that just the once. And it was grim...

argyle1234 · 22/02/2016 16:32

Absolutely true it is very draining for everyone parents and kids

iloveshortbread · 22/02/2016 16:32

kingscote staff - Putney High says it doesn't disclose where girls are on the waiting list.

Ashers40 · 22/02/2016 17:22

Any Wimbledon High parents on this thread willing to share the highs and lows?

jeanne16 · 22/02/2016 17:39

Almostdone. I don't really mean to smile at your comment but I just do have to point out that it is all nothing compared with the 3 years when you have GCSEs, AS and A2 exams, and these results actually matter! I am in the middle of these with DC2 and am exhausted.

Almostdone2 · 22/02/2016 18:11

I know! I've done GCSE's and really by then they are on their own.
I think it is just the perfect storm, the 11 Plus.
Either that or I am getting too old...

KingscoteStaff · 22/02/2016 18:52

shortbread they told our Head 3 were 'very near', 1 was 'possible chance' and 1 was 'most unlikely'.

orangejuicex · 24/02/2016 13:49

Wondering if anyone else with a LU offer went to the open evening last night?

Shirleycantbe · 24/02/2016 21:45

We did! What did you think?

orangejuicex · 24/02/2016 21:52

It was good but we'd already accepted our place so didn't need any convincing!

contraryMe · 24/02/2016 21:55

I missed it - could you fill me in. We will have a tour soon.

argyle1234 · 25/02/2016 07:27

Anyone at the G&L tour yesterday. It was a very well managed affair. Shall be signing our contract today

CountessDracula · 25/02/2016 11:16

Orangina (OP) how did your dd get on or have you not heard yet?
How are you?

orangina · 25/02/2016 13:03

Hi Countess, nice to see you! Dd got on very well thanks and was offered places at all of the schools we applied to. We are so proud of her! Am pretty sure we will be going for G&L, but doing a final tour next week to just make sure we are certain. How are you?

Hi orangejuicex

Do you mind sharing your rationale for choosing Latymer (was it for your DD?) We are 99% decided but having a little wobble and some reinforcement would be gratefully received!

Redlemons · 25/02/2016 19:03

Shirley - I have sent you a PM

Chitty4444 · 25/02/2016 21:51

Anyone waiting on waitlists?!

mummyinatizz · 03/03/2016 09:44

hope all well, and decisions made. I know a few waiting on WLs for PHS, WHS, JAGS. Fingers crossed for all those waiting.

cakeisalaystheanswer · 04/03/2016 11:46

So as state school offers are out and waitlists start to move, how many posters on this thread actually ended up with less than 2 offers?

I ask this as a guide for next years parents.

Goodbyealvin · 04/03/2016 12:54

We got 3 offers out of 4 private school exams sat. Luckily this included our first choice! The one we didn't get was only a punt and we wouldn't have taken it instead of first choice if we'd got an offer. We have given up the other 2 places and our state place already so hopefully that will help some other candidates

Mumofthree1976 · 04/03/2016 13:50

We got 3 offers, 1 rejection and 1 waiting list (SPGS) but were offered our first choice so have gone with that as the SPGS waiting list is unlikely to move.

cakeisalaystheanswer · 04/03/2016 14:40

Congrats to your DDs Goodbye and Mumofthree.

I can appreciate that people don't like to boast particularly out of consideration for others who they fear may not have done as well. But next years parents will flick through this thread read the horror stories of the exam days and the stress of waiting for results without hearing about the successful outcomes. So its good to share.

SWLondonGirl · 04/03/2016 15:58

SPGS waitlist moved last year.

Niquitic · 05/03/2016 11:19

3 out of 3 offered; 2 places & a state school place freed up Smile
