New thread for those of us starting the exams.

Keep calm everyone.

Don't read anything into it Sparkling, he might be distracted with something else.

Grin at those texts. I'd have loved to be able to text my Mum when I was that age.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2015 16:01

Good effective written communication, WF! Grin

DD just called to confirm she was on the usual bus. She said the chemistry (igcse, excedel I think) was easy but that would mean the grade boundaries are higher.

Nothing tomorrow, Eng Lit monday and then Tuesday is one of her days with 3 subjects, so she's got to be sequestered after the first one, which she's not looking forward to. Nor the sheer amount of writing in one day.

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2015 16:01

A 'bring food' type text from teens always worries me. I always take the wrong thing.

I hope he's ok Sugar-not too much longer....

Littleham · 14/05/2015 16:02

I like the way the texts deal with all their issues first before telling us about the exam (& putting us out of misery). My dd's text started with 'don't wash my jeans as my money is still in pocket'.

I wouldn't know where to start anyway as her room looks like it has been burgled. She revises on the carpet (or inside the wardrobe if she is having a bad day), despite having a desk in her bedroom (and a desk downstairs). The desks are used for storage / piling up clutter. Please tell me that she is not the only one.

CocoaBeans · 14/05/2015 16:02

DD says that everybody found the chemistry to be easy

HSMMaCM · 14/05/2015 16:05

DD says chemistry was "alright".

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 14/05/2015 16:06

DS said the chemistry was easy too. Apparently he read it through 6 times and got bored.

Horsemad · 14/05/2015 16:06

DS2 said Chemistry was rubbish - not sure why he's surprised, given he hasn't revised much.

I'm in a strop with my lot as I had a crappy day at work and nobody here gives a toss. Angry. Too much testosterone and male silliness around here at the moment. Most irritating. Where's that Gove link?

dingit · 14/05/2015 16:06

Revising done on the floor here, too, and sometimes under her desk ( don't ask). I don't think I can actually see carpet in her room at the moment.
She's in quite a good mood, says she ' filled the booklet' for her citizenship exam. Just PE theory to go this week.

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2015 16:07

I can't even see DS's desk for clutter Little. Sad I have produced a box for him to put all the books/past papers in for subjects he is done with to clear some room.

First day of study leave tomorrow and I will suggest he makes a start....

HSMMaCM · 14/05/2015 16:07

Little ham we have sold DD's desk Grin

OP posts:
SugarPlumTree · 14/05/2015 16:10

Littleham I have no idea what DD's room is like as I no longer go in. She will allegedly tidy it in the summer. Fingers crossed Sparkling, the waiting always is worse I find.

Horsemad · 14/05/2015 16:11

Littleham, my house is a tip with revision paperwork/books etc. Both DC have desks in their rooms but insist on revising everywhere else! Living room has a whiteboard set up for Maths revision, and books all over the place, kitchen has been taken over, bedroom floors strewn with papers and books. I cannot wait until the 24th June! Shock

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2015 16:13

Mine does actually work at her desk quite a lot of the time. Though on wednesday midmorning I took her a coffee and she was sat up in bed - fully dressed, oddly enough. Really they're the only feasible places, the floor is too strewn with stuff (and she's a bit claustrophobic so the wardrobe wouldn't appeal!).

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/05/2015 16:31

Oh God, now I feel bad for encouraging DD to tidy her room. Blush Maybe I'm stifling her revision although she was getting stressed about not being able to find stuff.

I came in from work this afternoon to find her sitting in one of her sister's prom dresses Grin Why not, eh? Not what I would have chosen to revise in but what the hell.

Nothing tomorrow, but she has an exam every day next week. English x2, Geography, Physics and Maths.

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2015 16:37

Ds1 is home and declared Chemistry as 'good', Hurrah!!

tbtc · 14/05/2015 16:38

Chemistry was good apparently. Didn't go as well as biology he feels, but he's happy.

Nothing tomorrow. He says he's going to read To Kill a Mockingbird this weekend since he hasn't read it yet. Shock

He just disappeared upstairs with lots of yellow carbs (crackers with Stilton, a toasted, buttered muffin and some tray bake).

He doesn't have to go in tomorrow but I think he might as he's been granted special permission to leave the premises to get lunch from the bakery. Errrm OK.

Horsemad · 14/05/2015 16:40

Grin tbtc - DS2 can't wait to go off school premises at lunch!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2015 16:42

I feel as though I should be baking something. I've got lots of overripe bananas in the freezer, so probably muffins if I can't think of anything different.

SugarPlumTree · 14/05/2015 16:46

Grin tbtc. I do love some of what they come out with. Good news Sparkling Smile

Just had a text from a friend, she'd like to go out for a drink this weekend. Twins in year 11, enough said !

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2015 16:48

DS1 has just said 'Can we have a takeaway tonight to celebrate?' Confused Not sure what he's celebrating TBH.

I think it's finishing Year 11, but I think any possible celebrations need to wait til August 20th.

Ginandtonictime · 14/05/2015 16:50

Feeling bad ...

Just got an email from DS2's biology teacher (year 9) saying he got 2/15 for a topic test, and 9/25 for the resit!

Have confessed to focussing entirely on DS1 and allowing DS2&3 (twins) to disappear off to their rooms to do homework/revise. Now it seems we've been neglecting them! DS3 grumbled that "we never have time to help with my homework anymore".

Trouble is their end of year exams are in two weeks time and the school decides, based on those results, whether they can sit the three separate sciences or not ...

There is literally not enough of DH&I to go round at the moment ...

tbtc · 14/05/2015 17:10

gina I think by year 9 they should be taking responsibility for their own homework. Those low results are not down to you "neglecting" him, though I suppose if they are used to a certain level of support then you've all got into that way of it.

If DS2 wants the three sciences enough (and is bright enough to do them), then he has time to work really hard.

QOD · 14/05/2015 17:12

Dd too said chemistry was easy

stayathomegardener · 14/05/2015 17:21

Banana muffins here. DD taken 5 off to her room to grapple with PE.
