We have put an out of catchment school as first choice. Second choice is our catchment school. Some years we would get into our first choice, some years we would not. So we are anxiously awaiting the email...

I had a dream that ds got offered offered a school miles away that wasn't on our 4 listed, ohhhh I was so relieved to wake up! I am in Herts, so no email for us until 6pm tonight :/ Its nice to see everyone's results coming in and how pleased you all are.

pourmeanotherglass · 02/03/2015 08:12

No news yet in Bristol. Last year the email came around 8:50.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 02/03/2015 08:13

So sorry Miele Sad worth starting an appeals thread to support all those of us who need to?

CheekyBanana · 02/03/2015 08:18

Also waiting on bristol. 2 years ago we heard at 7.50....

TheySaidThat · 02/03/2015 08:35

Tickle. It's DCCSchoolAdmissions. @DevonAdmissions.

MrsLindor · 02/03/2015 08:40

We've been offered second choice, which to be fair isn't our catchment school (there are three schools closer than our catchment school all better), dd is quite a way down the awaiting list for our first choice, so we'll appeal, depending on dds views when she gets back from school today and knows where her friends are going.

ChippyMinton · 02/03/2015 08:58

minifingers and champagnecharley and anyone else waiting on London and Surrey - eadmissions usually goes live at 5pm.

Congrats/Commiserations to those who have heard already. Don't be disheartened if it wasn't what you wanted - plan your next steps. There are some very helpful posters, including tiggytape and prh7bridge and admissions who are usually around to dispense wise wordsSmileThanks

minifingers · 02/03/2015 09:07

I know Chippy, I know, I just don't want it to be so, and I'm like a dog with a bone - I can't leave it alone. Grin

I've been cleaning the house since 5am. Grin

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/03/2015 09:17

I know DD will get first choice but still anxious for no apparent reason. Keep checking email but can't remember which address I used so have to keep checking both! Bristol here too.

Flossiechops · 02/03/2015 09:23

Oh blimey what a stressful morning so far. I started having texts from parents from 7.45am to say they had emails but mine still hadn't come through . One of dds friends who lives around 0.2 miles from me didn't get in so i was in bits convinced she hadn't either. Email came at 8.25am and dd got offered first choice!!!!! To say I'm relieved is an understatement! We obviously only got in by a whisker. I cried with relief dd is thrilled too!!! The best thing is i know ds will be guaranteed entry next year so no more stressing next year.

Miele and others who didn't get good news you have my sympathy, it is such a very stressful time. Hoping you all get there in the end xxxx

mirjon66 · 02/03/2015 09:28

I'm in one of the 33 London Boroughs and can't believe we have to wait until 5pm. Anyone else in one of the London Boroughs? Does anyone know if this borough has ever had the results earlier?

Good luck to those still waiting to find out.

stilllearnin · 02/03/2015 09:32

Miele can I just commiserate. It's unbelievably gutting isn't it. I didn't think i'd feel so bad. I will get my appeal going soon too Flowers

MrsMot · 02/03/2015 09:36

Sad Miele

Bucks sends out emails at 2pm and the allocations go live on their portal then too.

We should be ok, if ds doesn't get his first choice grammar something has gone seriously wrong! The nervy bit for us was in October when the 11+ results came out.

Keeping my fingers crossed for friends a couple of villages away though, they're in a bit of a Bermuda triangle. They're officially in catchment for several grammars but the distance away from the schools means it's always a bit hit and miss depending on the size of the cohort.

WantonMother · 02/03/2015 09:41

Anyone in Bristol had their email yet? Why is it taking so long!!!

MirandaWest · 02/03/2015 09:48

Just had email and DS has his first choice :)

Good luck to those still waiting and commiserations for those who haven't got their first choice.

prh47bridge · 02/03/2015 09:50

Just to emphasise what Tiggytape said up thread - if you want advice on appeals please start a new thread with "appeal" in the title. That way you will get advice from all the admissions experts on Mumsnet. I do also respond to PMs if you need to give confidential information.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/03/2015 09:51

Not yet, Wanton. Where are you hoping for if you don't mind me asking?

stilllearnin · 02/03/2015 09:57

Thank you so much prh47bridge. That's very kind. we deal with admission appeals at work so have a slight wobble we may know each other! (not that I care as everyone at work knows my business - its more that I'd feel a wally if we could just chat in the office!!)

ihategeorgeosborne · 02/03/2015 10:06

Dd got her 2nd choice and is gutted. She was ok until she found out all her friends had got into her first choice. Looks like she missed out by a whisker. Oh, well, I guess we'll wait for the paper work to come through tomorrow and submit the appeal and go onto the waiting list. I'm reasonably happy with the 2nd choice, but she is not Sad

Gemma77 · 02/03/2015 10:10

Phew!!! We have been offered our first choice!! We moved specifically to get in to a better catchment area but didnt move into a feeder primary as I didnt want to unsettle my DS. So relieved... think we only just made it as only 22 places out of 300 went to kids not in feeder primaries and the catchment mileage was reduced to 1.07 miles! We are 0.9 so just in.

So happy. Its a great school :) (the other choices we have are about to go into special measures so big relief)

Hope everyone else gets good news and that those on waiting lists are not waiting very long.

WantonMother · 02/03/2015 10:11

Had our email! well we had Backwell as or first choice but wasn't overly hopeful as it is massively oversubscribed. We got our second choice, St Katherine's which I'm very pleased with. DS liked it when we looked around and his best friend has been accepted to the same school. Thank goodness w didn't get our local school which was our third choice insurance place, it isn't doing very well. Are you Bristol?

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/03/2015 10:22

Yes - Fairfield first choice. St Katherine's lovely but was a bit too far for us. Still no email.
