I just thought I'd get us started up again!

Hi NiceCardigan, it's surprising how much noise they do make even if they're the quiet type!
Hope he enjoys his trip to Durham, gorgeous place Smile

hellsbells99 · 16/03/2015 22:43

2 of DD's friends have gone to look at Durham too. Both for sciences.

Mindgone · 16/03/2015 22:53

Hellbells, have they been to the Stockton campus or the main one? If Stockton, what did they think of it? DS still waiting to hear from them!

They have gone to the main campus Mindgone.

Hope he enjoys it nicecardigan. My Ds left the house at 5.45 this morning to catch a flight up to Newcastle and then a train onto Durham for his visit days (today and tomorrow)- I can't believe how independent they have all become!!

NiceCardigan · 17/03/2015 21:40

DS had a great time in Durham but I think that he enjoyed being a student a little too much and had a very late night in the college bar. He said he'll be firming it tomorrow when he isn't quite so tired!

AmazingDisgrace · 18/03/2015 22:32

Finally dithering DD has firmed and insured. It caused her huge stress and was almost physically painful to decline one offer in particular. In the end she had made the decision but couldn't bring herself to do it so made me click the choices for her.
After a few kicks up the backside she is now working hard well harder at least and the grades are heading up to the right place. Smile

AmazingDisgrace · 18/03/2015 22:35

Horsemad DD has two resits from AS so she's attending the lessons now for those with the lower 6th and really finding it beneficial in terms of revision

polkadottyme · 19/03/2015 18:36

Yay dd got a offer from bath it's not the same course as the others she has applied for as Bath don't do it but shes happy bunny. But we are in a dilemma the offer holder open day for bristol and Bath are on the same day??. Has anyone been in this type of situation and what did you do?

mumahead · 19/03/2015 18:59

call uni and explain polka. They'll offer a different day

Horsemad · 19/03/2015 19:14

Well done polkaDD! Smile

I'm sure if you call they'll let you visit on a different day, they usually have a few Visit days on their calendar.
Maybe the day before/after Bristol would be handy if you're going to be in the area? You won't get the whole Visit Day experience if you go day before/after, but it will give your DD an idea of what it is like.

hellsbells99 · 19/03/2015 19:23

NiceCardigan - glad your DS liked Durham. DD said one friend was definitely firming after the open day and one probably wasn't.

NiceCardigan · 19/03/2015 19:36

Well done to your DD polka - is that all her offers in now? If you need to do an individual visit Bath have some stuff on their website and they say you can contact the relevant department to see if someone is free to chat to you.

hellsbells I'm glad the decision making is done and DS is motivated to get on with his coursework now Smile

polkadottyme · 19/03/2015 20:35

Thanks horsemad, mumahead, nice cardigan, dd is over moon this has really lifted her spirits she's been down in the dumps of lately. And that's it she has all her offers only 3 nottingham, bristol and Bath she got rejected from ucl and didn't apply a 5th one. Decisions decisions?? Wouldn't like to be in dd shoes but excited for her. Plan I think would be to go to the bristol one and arrange to see bath the next day thanks nice cardigan for the info on Bath Smile

Littleham · 19/03/2015 20:51

Hurrah Polka. Really glad she got a Bath offer.

dd still slogging through coursework. Next term is seven weeks long, followed by half term & then another seven weeks (or so I'm told)! Halloween Shock

circular · 19/03/2015 21:06

Just trying to catch up, glad for all those that have decisions out of the way.
Think DD pretty much decided, but not firmed yet, too busy with performances etc. Thought the last of them were this month until the summer. Then she calmly informs me she has agreed to 2 more during her exams grrr.
Scary that Easter hols almost here, then just 4 weeks for DD until study leave starts.

Sounds like your DD has a great work ethic mumslife to keep trying hard when it's been difficult for her. Study leave begins on 22nd may for DS.

Plenty of time to sort things out mumslife. DS is the opposite a bit too chilled out.

polkadottyme · 19/03/2015 22:43

Thanks littleham according to dd only 90 days to go and she will leave the 6th form officially she can't wait she has a countdown appConfused must be desperate to leave! Thanks Mumslife-your dd still has the headachesSad. We had our last ever parents evening horrah no more forever yay!

hellsbells99 · 20/03/2015 00:22

Polka - you can rent a room on Bath campus if it makes life easier? DD and I did this when she had an interview at Cardiff one day and then Bath the next day.

hellsbells99 · 20/03/2015 00:24

Mumslife - hope your DD is okay.

hellsbells99 · 20/03/2015 00:25

DD is probably firming Manchester and insuring Birmingham. I would like her to make her mind up and confirm by the Easter holidays so she can concentrate on revising.
