Mine seems to just go to sleep almost straight away, in full uniform. Perhaps having eaten something first and left bowls/plates/cups on floor in living room. Sleeps mainly in livingroom though occasionally in bedroom which is a permanent state. I arrive home to said mess with a good supply of wires around the floor from chargers etc. No matter how many times I complain it never changed. This lasts a good few hours if allowed.

Same bluecarrot, I often had to collect a younger brother and take him home and get started on the household stuff.

Yes, my favourite thing ever is to wash, dry then iron clothing for it to be thrown on the floordrobe, mixed up with the bed covers or thrown somewhere in the actual wardrobe but certainly not hung up.

dd doesn't get in until 4:15/4:30 - assuming she hasn't got an activity her routine is:

15 minute monologue about her day
FOOD
shower (I turn the water off after 30 minutes she'll happily stay there for an hour)
deny having any homework
more FOOD
grumble because I've hidden her phone & computer while she was in the shower
do her homework (absolute minimum possible)
FOOD
disappear to her room with computer & phone to listen to music/write/draw/read/watch stupid youtube videos/tumblr/snapchat her cousins (she's good at multitasking she says)
reappear at about 9:30 just as I want to go to bed needing to 'talk' (monologue again) about something very important
go to bed when I start to nod off on the sofa
sleep when dh remembers to remove her computer again.

2 x DS age 12 and 14

Home 4pm
Dive into toilet as obviously they don't use the ones at school (no idea why not)
Throw school letters in my general direction
Snacks eg bread and butter, crisps, fruit, biscuits if we have any
Homework (14yo) Denying any homework (12yo)
Minecraft and Skype together so lots of shouting at friends as they all work on a game together
Guitar
Youtube
Dinner
more Minecraft/YouTube/ Facebook/Skype/Guitar
8pm they have to come and sit with us and we all watch TV together for 1hr ususally something factual eg The Marines Training camp/Big Bang/Watchdog esp Rogue Traders - not sure why they like this last one so much
9pm start to settle for bed
9:30-10pm lights out
10:05pm Call me to casually mention they need ingredients for Food Tech the following day. We live rurally and the supermarket/corner shop etc is all now shut.

  • DD(12) comes home,
  • changes her uniform but throws it all around,
  • eats something for tea and gets on to her ipod.
  • Sings in whispers and dances around for a good few hours and then
  • watches some american serials on the telly. And does a bit of emulation
  • Around 7:30pm, she takes a look at her homework after a lot of reminders from me,
  • tells me all about her day at school
  • finally does her homework,
  • dinner at 8:30 and (I am not able to manage an earlier one)
  • sleeps around 9:30 or 10.

My preferred behaviour

  • Change uniform but neatly put it away
  • Have a healthy snack for tea
  • open homework and finish it off
  • go out to play with friends in the fields
  • Come back around 6
  • tell me all about her day at school
  • watch tv for an hour
  • have dinner early
  • read a book
  • sleep by 9:30

DD(15) comes home, has a snack, goes on her oc and faffs about on phone, whilst doing her homework

MyballsareSandy · 19/07/2014 17:16

This is very reassuring and I will also be showing it to DH who is always on DD2s case lately.

I have two 13 year old DDs.

DD1 will come home, use loo, raid fridge, chat to me if I'm in, ask about my day, talk about school, tells me the ins and outs of every bloody conversation had at school that day Grin go on iPad for a while then do her homework, pack her bag for next day etc without any nagging from me, very self motivated. Bed about 9ish after watching tv with us.

DD2 will come home, use loo, raid fridge, throw a few comments about how poor we must be as there is absolutely nothing to eat! as usual! Make a comment about what I'm wearing, negative obviously. No other chat from her as she will be glued to make up blogs on you tube. I'll mention homework, she will sigh and eye roll. I'll eventually get pissed off that she spends so long on her iPad and remove it physically. She then generally strops up the stairs for a shower, returns downstairs about two hours later in the tiniest arse showing shorts and crop top (thanks MIL!), with full make up as though she was going to a party, but it's 9.30 on a Monday night and time for bed. So she then strops back up the stairs to remove said make up, eventually getting into bed way too late for her age. With baby Annabelle!! Such a strange age Grin

DS (12) is one of those, from another planet.
He comes home, long hug, gives me school news, exam results, gossip, etc while taking shoes and tie off (which he hangs), has healthy snack of fruit and humus while reading the news, immediately starts and finishes homework, then music practice for an hour, then uses whatever time is left (usually 30 min) with Lego, books, watching a movie or on scratch or minecraft till I call dinner. After dinner we try to have time together chatting with DH or listening to something, then shower, pack bag for next day, bed at 9:30 with a big smile on his face and another long hug after having put his dirty school shirt and socks into the washing basket... Long may last.

JufusMum · 22/07/2014 14:22

DD (almost 12)

Dumps bag in most awkward place she can find.
Opens fridge, removes all food that does not to be cooked first.
Sits on sofa/in room eating all food whilst on phone/ipod/ipad.
Gets nagged at to change out of uniform.
Changes out of uniform with lots of protest.
Homework if there is any.
Goes on trampoline/dance practise until dinner.
Dinner.
More dance practise.
Watches appalling telly with Daddy, eats unsuitable food (chocolate/ice lollys).
More dance practise in front of telly (annoying Daddy).
Bed between 10-11, far too late but she is a night owl.
Approximate time spent upside down or with body contorted - 80%

So have I - it is so reassuring to see that other teens do similar things despite their parents best efforts!

makemelaugh · 22/07/2014 18:50

I like the 80% time spent with body contorted Smile

Looks like I really was the evil mother that DS insisted I was Wink

Our routine used to consist of:
DS getting bus from his school to my school
Raiding my bag for snacks
Denying existence of homework until I threaten a bag search/ call teachers. Settling to brief stint of homework with other teachers kids.
Running around/football/basketball on school field or sportshall if free.
Twice a week joining in Warhammer club (AKA geek club) with my pupils.
Once a week walking down road to Judo whist I stayed at work
6pm complaining of boredom and being shuttled onto school computer to entertain himself.
7pm kicked out by caretaker so home for dinner/TV
9 - 9:30pm bed (as had to get up at 5:30am to be at 6am youth bible study HE signed up for)

Made plentiful use of floordrobe...despite my many many threats

Thefishewife · 29/07/2014 07:33
