Well done. Grin

I joined MN after searching for appeal help for a friend. The MN experts are the best Flowers

Thank you SO much to prh, admission, tiggytape and all the other experts whose names I'm too brain-addled to remember at the moment :) A massive Thanks and Wine and Cake for you all.

Crossing fingers for similar outcomes for the rest of you.

Excellent news - well done Lucas. What did your letter say?

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 13/06/2014 14:31

The letter was very stressful - it went on for ages before saying that we'd won! I was skim-reading in a panic, trying to find the info! It summarised the hearing, listing the reason the school gave and the reasons we gave and then said that there was a majority vote that our reasons outweighed the school's.

Well done - you must be over the moon! Are you celebrating tonight then?

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 13/06/2014 14:49

I'm out with a friend tonight but I think there will be some Champers tomorrow night with DH :)

woodlands01 · 13/06/2014 16:35

I am so pleased for you!!! Fabulous news. I helped a friend with an appeal who is still waiting. It must be unbearable, I'm a nervous wreck never mind her! Good luck to everyone waiting. Can't believe she hasn't heard today .............................. I'm now thinking will it come tomorrow? or do we go into next week.

cherrybaby12 · 13/06/2014 17:14

Congratulations Lucas. I'm so pleased you got your letter at last. You can relax and enjoy knowing your child is going to the best school for them.

appealtakingovermylife · 13/06/2014 20:22

So pleased for you and dc!!!!
And finding out on Friday 13th:)
Gives the rest of us waiting some hope, well done x

woodlands01 · 14/06/2014 18:32

Well, I'm hijacking thread slightly as not me but my dear friend who really deserves some good luck got her appeal letter today and her boy is in!!! So pleased for them. Lots of other disappointed parents. Seems to be harder to get school of 'choice' nowadays.
Lots of manic laughter and tears and we're meeting up for some vino later!!

cherrybaby12 · 14/06/2014 21:30

Well I got my letter today and I'VE WON !!!! Just can't believe it. I read the letter about 100 times since as I was so convinced I messed up on the day and felt my appeal went terribly. Good luck to everyone else waiting for their appeal letters.

appealtakingovermylife · 14/06/2014 23:57

Cherry, yay!!! Another one:)
This thread seems lucky. I've still got to wait until 26th.
Panel meeting on Wednesday to decide then the clerk will do all the letters and post the following Wednesday, seems so long to wait.
Well done you x

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 15/06/2014 09:05

YAAAAAAAAY for Cherry!!! Congrats!!! Thanks What with Cherry and me both feeling that our hearings didn't go too well, hopefully this will reassure GirlInASwirl that the written submission obviously does go a long way and not to worry too much about what you should have said. Still crossing fingers for the rest of you.

Well done Cherry - fantastic news! Seems that someone/something is smiling on us at the moment (takes anxious breath!).

Hope we didn't mess up too much on the day - wasn't functioning to full capacity because of the way appeal was handled. It was like everything just went out of my head.

My partner was also there - he has Asperger's syndrome (panel did not know) so sudden changes in plan stump him - and he froze after being shut up.

I hope you are right Lucas about the written submission. I have all my bits crossed that the panel members will come to our aid. I have faith with at least one of them (who mentioned that things were unfair during the hearing).

I have had to pick myself back up again - because we are doing it all again with another school on Tuesday. We have learnt things from the last hearing...

a.) To insist our case gets properly heard
b.) That we need to put out file into better order
c.) That my partner needs a plan on paper in case we get side-lined again
d.) That our summary must cover all aspects of our case against the LEA in case we either miss anything out/it is not heard properly
e.) To relax a bit more - we have one hearing already in the bag (and it was one of the tougher ones).

trying to reassure myself and partner for Tuesday....wish us luck

cherrybaby12 · 16/06/2014 22:19

GirlInASwirl, I just wanted to wish you good luck with your next appeal tomorrow. At least you're know what to expect and have a list of things you have learnt. I so thought I messed up my appeal at the individual hearing so wasn't expecting to win but yes it looks like your written submission carries some weight. Let us know how you get on
x

Bagpussss · 17/06/2014 11:24

A massive well done to all that won their appeal, congrats Thanks

woodlands01 · 17/06/2014 17:07

How did it go GirlInASwirl?

GirlInASwirl · 17/06/2014 17:13

Letter come through this morning - didn't win Sad. Have made an initial enquiry about complaints in line with conduct of the hearing. Still awaiting letter as to why we were turned down - to come.

Had second hearing today - went better (I think). Two weeks for answer with that one.

Two big events in one day - my nerves are fried.

woodlands01 · 17/06/2014 22:57

Sorry to hear about the first appeal. Fingers crossed for second. Two weeks to wait! It's a blooming nightmare.

charlieandlola · 17/06/2014 23:05

After the longest 2 weeks of my life , we found out today that we won our appeal - the only one out of 20 odd that were heard.
Phew !
Good luck to those still waiting - it is awful

GirlInASwirl · 17/06/2014 23:23

Well done charlie - excellent result. Onward and upward.....!

GirlInASwirl · 17/06/2014 23:25

Thanks woodlands.
