One - they don't need washing very often.

One.
Dry clean only at February half term, and new one every August.
Wipe off mud from being screwed up in a ball in rugby bag with baby wipes.
YY to emptying a million pockets.

One. Washing machine at the end of every term, or half term.

DD1 in y10 and is still fitting her y7 blazer!

DD has one. I wash it every 2-3 weeks depending on how dirty it looks/smells.

One - it goes in the washing machine each half term, but can be done overnight (after DDs Art lessons - DS never painted his). They've both gone through 5 years with 2 each as they grew.

One. And if it's a state school and it costs megabucks, complain, complain, complain. Some schools use it as a means of back door selection and need to be pulled up on it.

£95. One.

I'm feeling quite, erm, dirty. It gets spot cleaned/sponged/attacked with the steam iron once a week and is hung up on a proper heavy duty hanger as soon as he gets in. Occasional dry clean. It never smells.

It's a really good quality wool and if you take it out of a sports bag at 7pm and hang it up properly it is good to go in the morning.

Oh goodness just buy one.

You can wash them and dry overnight no worries, they come out of the machine virtually dry IME.

Not that I wash my kids' blazers every week! They don't seem to need it really.

yy agree check pockets. Probably find a mobile phone and a calculator and an assortment of pens, none of which you really want to wash Grin

He'll probably have grown out of it by the end of the year so no point in wasting your money - 1!

I only ever had one at a time at school, and no one ever had theirs washed or dry cleaned.

When I was at school I only ever had one and it was rarely washed. That was because during lesson we didn't have to wear it though. Does your son have to wear it during lessons?

One for each twin

I had to get new at the end of year 8, due to growth, but I'm hoping these two will make to the end of year 11 when they can be ceremonially burned.

One here too. I bought new as have 4 children so it will be passed on but bought slightly bigger size and I suspect it will be worn for 2 years at least.

It still looks brand new 6 months on and I also wash it every half term and also had to laugh at the collection of items in the pockets!!!!

One washed half termly. Second the checking of the pockets - I managed to was DD's lunch pass which caused her much stress....

One - ours are cheap at £20 but if they were giving them away I wouldn't have two. All those things that he cannot live without would then always be in the wrong blazer.

I was wondering this although mine aren't yet at senior school. What if they lose their blazer, won't they get into trouble if they don't have a spare to wear? Or do they not lose them?

"lose their blazer"
hmmm
more likely is that they will lose their underwear
seriously
a blazer is the first skin
it is their identity

DCs school is a 1600 pupil comp - lost blazers are not an issue!

I am laughing at the idea of ds losing his blazer!! The damn thing is welded to him!
1 has been fine for us - washed over a weekend/ holiday occasionally (I only washed his uniform card the once- the trauma that alone caused means I do not go any where near it unless necessary!)

That's good to know. Do they have to keep it on even in sweltering weather? (We never had one at my high school)

the boys will wear short sleeve shirts (to look hunky at lunchtime football) rather than go sweaty inside their blazers

blazers are worn at ALL times unless the head gives written permission during a heatwave
and then they are guarded like PRECIOUS

the girls always wear short sleeve in summer and sit on their blazers for sunbathing - making sure that all prefect badges, brocade, talismans are still on view even when sat upon

1 each. I wash teenage DS's every week, otherwise it gets a bit pungent. Yr 7 DD's only gets washed twice per term unless something has been spilt down it.

In answer to the question re keeping them on at school - at our school the pupils must wear their blazer for walking around, eg between lessons, but individual teachers can allow them to be removed during lessons.

Gawd. It seems so strict nowadays. We were never told what we could or couldn't take off when it was hot. Just had a short sleeved shirt in hot weather.

Glad some schools let them take blazers off in lessons. Maybe I am overthinking it and my dc wont care
