Ok. DS1 has broken up for Easter and we now have to all accept that this is it. He has been doing dribs and drabs since mocks in February and an hour- ish in the evenings of stuff set by teachers.

Nowhere near what I remember doing for my o'levels a million miles ago. Friends tell me their kids are doing nothing yet. Not sure I believe them though!

Waiting for reality to kick in with him but he still seems to be treating it all like an end of topic test in class!

What's happening in your house? Are you staying well out of it or like me walking round waving a CGP guide 24/7!!!!!

Good Luck!
DD1 starts with RE on Monday.

MrsMaturin · 08/05/2014 18:44

French on Monday for us.

bruffin · 08/05/2014 18:55

Dd first exam Monday which is RE. She has had a mad week finishing photography. Today was shirt signing and last assembly and last form. Dd has had her form tutor for the last 5 years and although they have had a rocky relationship she was sad . She got an award for her determination and achievements which was lovely.
Tomorrow is Thorpe Park then its exams full on for the next month.

kaytola · 08/05/2014 19:00

French on monday for us too.

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 19:12

DD is still finishing art (must be finished in tomorrow's double lesson) and doing English HW.

Honestly does there ever come a point when they are allowed to decide what they need to revise.

Answer No! we now have a Saturday and a Sunday workshop in the actual exam month.

This is only conceivably possible because the later exams are science which DD knows and maths which they have worked really hard in all year. Non of this last minute nonsense from the maths teacher.

Weak scientists are just going to be too tired to do anything, by the time those exams come.

I think there will be DCs a sleep in the last RE paper (it's compulsory and I bet there are pupils who haven't looked at the second 1/2)

LIZS · 08/05/2014 19:15

one down , next French and RS. Next week is hectic.

eatyourveg · 08/05/2014 20:04

French and Philosophy here too on Monday. Last French lesson ever today - much celebrating.

ds got a good luck card in the post today from his Geography teacher who left last year. He was gutted when she went and is determined to make her proud.

Yes Science is late but its the only one after half term (save for Maths) so there is at least a little let up to give them time to breathe.

mumthetaxidriver · 08/05/2014 20:17

No end of lessons at my DS's school - still on timetable apart from when they have exams up until half term. We understand why they are doing this (school desperately needs better results this year) but in my son's case would focus much better at home sticking to his own timetable.

eatyourveg · 08/05/2014 20:36

lessons are still going on but the french exam is on monday so where they would normally be timetabled to have french after that (on wednesday afternoon) they will be in school revising for other subjects.

they aren't allowed to stay at home until after half term and then only if they have a whole day without an exam

bruffin · 08/05/2014 20:41

Dd still has to go to lessons until she has the exam in that subject. She just doesnt have to go to form anymore. She does have some revision classes in half term.

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 20:45

I'm assuming DD is allowed home after most exams, there are a few when school has put things in, the afternoon.

Ok since I don't work, but a nightmare for many parents, buses are not this areas forte.

bruffin · 08/05/2014 21:08

Dd has an hours journey to school so cant get home when there is a gap in timetable either.

LIZS · 08/05/2014 21:12

ds is on study leave now but will go in whenever he has an exam for the full day and can revise there in between or arrange to meet a teacher. No exam tomorrow so he'll stay at home.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 08/05/2014 21:15

Aaahhh! Getting nervous here. DS1 starts with French on Monday and goes on until 23rd June! And I will be invigilating some exams and being a reader for others in my school. (Not a teacher)

Best1sWest · 08/05/2014 22:03

Lessons until half term here although as they finish with the subject (eg art) they have free periods instead. ICT short course and Applied additional science next week. After half term they are on study leave.

RE on Monday for DS, then Geography on Tuesday.

The teacher hasn't actually finished the syllabus for Geography. And organised a four hour session tonight and another on Saturday. DS had already taken matters into his own hands and done a lot of reading and asked friends in the other set questions. Am very cross, to say the least.

DS goes on study leave after half-term.

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 22:34

rasberry I'd be very cross too.
I'm not at all pleased with drama having a day at the weekend, but they did at least have final performances to panic about.

Geog ought to have finished, DD1 has.

(We didn't, but had learnt enough to do the right number of questions, but not get as wider choice. However my class were very very badly behaved and I certainly wasn't.)

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 22:40

DD has just appeared demanding white card *$%#&@! Art again.

Since she's always loved art and craft far more than toys most things can be found in the dinning room somewhere.

DH was heard to moan the paint brush that fits the bread machine paddle has vanished. Well it is a paint brush, it's probably in DDs room being used to paint with!

Crumbs I'm feeling v lucky dd had finished art. Mind you the poor lamb has put in at least two hours after school every week for the last year plus everything she's done at home. I don't want to think about how many hours that is. At least she's enjoyed it.

I am v twitchy about the French tbh.

hellsbells99 · 09/05/2014 00:31

DD2 has her leavers assembly tomorrow and then is on study leave. Lessons continue until each exam - but DD says they are optional so she won't go to many. 1st exam is level 3 algebra on Monday. Last exam is 12th June. Then back in school for 2 days at the beginning of July for 6th form days ....and then prom!
Lots of revision this weekend. She has gone very very quiet this week.
