Are the syllabuses very different?is it possible to transfer from one to the other?

Well for those schoolsthat lose mny pupil at 16, then the GCSE results are more important.

But the most selective schools in both sectors don't lose many at all. And there is not very much incentive for these schools to play it safe. That's not what parents pay for.

Don't forget that quite a number of the schools we're talking about don't start til year 9...so not many are going to leave three tyears later.
