How often should I being washing a blazer?!

So, we're nearly at the end of week 2 of year 7, and I was thinking about when to wash DD's blazer! I gave it a once over and it seems ok - no bad smells in the armpit area (!), and so far small marks have come off fairly easily with baby wipes. Is washing once a month enough or should it be more frequent than that? Any advice would be gratefully received! Grin

another man made fibre here - weekly wash essential

Every half term at the moment. It doesn't smell or get dirty. It just needs refreshing.

Haha! Thanks brentwoodgal, I was wondering the same! 2 weeks done and not sure when to wash blazer....and how!? Label says machine wash but no tumble dry (if I remember correctly) or dry clean. It's a polyester one. Safe to machine wash? What about tumble dry?

So far it's got a bit muddy but found that this comes off easily enough with a wipe. DS is in Y7 and hasn't got BO (yet) so wasn't planning on washing it for a while Blush. Glad to hear that others aren't planning on washing their DC's too often either!

SomePeopleSayImBonkers · 15/09/2012 17:57

As in how to remove tippex??

our blazer is polyester - by the time it comes out of machine it is virtually dry we just hang it on a coat hanger overnight

TheMonster · 15/09/2012 18:05

No, I was suggesting it to cover the pen. Hee hee.

"our blazer is polyester - by the time it comes out of machine it is virtually dry we just hang it on a coat hanger overnight "

yes, I started out half-termly - now I've realised how utterly indestructible it is, I tend to bung it now & again just to fill the machine up Grin.

I had a blazer at school, don't think it was wool - certainly wasn't that heavy felty stuff - I don't actually ever remember it being washed...

Go with your nose! I have to wash my teenagers blazer once a week. Hence I buy a washable one from M and S and can just chuck it in with the other washing.

takeonboard · 15/09/2012 18:54

Sponge clean if you can, i washed DS's on a 40degree wash and it came out like a limp rag and bobbly!

"What about tumble dry?"

What's wrong with just hanging it up to dry? DD's blazer is made from recycled materials and is just about indestructable. Like out2lunch's experience DD's blazer is almost dry when it comes out of the machine.
