Anyone else feeling like we do about the impending Offers Day?

Not at all a foregone conclusion that DS will get into any of first five choices (all selective, two 11+ passes, one 11+ result due this coming week) so rather up in the air.... Sixth choice is okayish but DS has talked it down to the point that he is now desperately hoping it's not his one and only choice! Otherwise DS is being quite mature about considering that he could end up at any of the schools and is already thinking about which friends from primary school he is likely to stay in touch with etc.....

It all feels a bit as if life is on hold till 1st March.....

oooh mooze, what was other school she named, if you don't mind me being nosy? Was it LVH?

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 15:56

NO ( i will refuse that) she named Highlands.. not in my catchment?? she said that schools is perfect for my child .. calmly said how she would refuse mountgrace if she got it
yet i love that school ,, she then reminded me its not whats the best school, but what school ( suits ) your child best..

have then spoke to a last year parent who didnt get a single named school but one in ponders end yet a week later got her 1st choice!!! ... id say what ever the results if its not what we wanted it could defo change whithin weeks movement happens all the time doesnt it?

Reckon I'll be getting blisters on tips of fingers soon! Keep switching between my emails, eadmissions website, FB and MN, its like my fingers have got ants in their pants.

It's sheer lunacy, nowhere near 5 o clock and yet I cannot stop myself.

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:01

HIghlands v sought after, people appeal year on year to try and get their children in there.

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:03

booby lol.. i have lappy on e admissions .. phone on email... lol that way no switching .. teacher said after 6pm emails get sent but may not get them at 6 ... how am i ment to focus my ds still hasnt even asked!!!

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:03

its just I heard last year that LVH is where they put all the children who don't get a place anywhere else, dont know if true or not.

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:04

aaah bless your DS. Mine keeps asking, have told him to chill and wait (now if only I could do same).

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:05

lvh .. its ok i must admit i called the school up to thank them for there lovely pupil who helped me with a pram up the subway .. really nice boy.. so i wont say there all bad

just ,my child isnt sporty however may suit ds2..
i did name lvh on my list as had to really

Blu · 01/03/2012 16:05

Sorry about your disappointment, Viva - hard after she did all that work.

I hope it works out - surely the streaming or setting in a comp would mean that she is placed with a highly motivated / high achieving group? In comps the overall GCSE stats don't reflect the stats of the top stream.

I hope she feels proud that she did well and worked hard anyway.

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:08

lots of movement, some people not accepting places given, waiting lists changing all the time, people moving out of area, appeals etc.

Ach, whatever will be will be, am getting peed off with myslef now.

My DS will be fine anywhere...my son will be fine anywhere...repeat!

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:13

yeah i am ..

as long as its not a silly travel distance its okish right ...breathe breathe breath .. hmmm im thinking i may go paractise my ( its ok ) face?

markusadam · 01/03/2012 16:14

my dd is in yr 11 at lvh and it has improved alot since she started there. it used to be the school where children who didn't get any of their choices got put but the last few years has not had as many spare places. it's my ds 3rd choice as him and his sister don't get on so wouldn't be good if they went there. we live in cheshunt now so have only 3 to choose but not many schools are suitable. roll on 6 o clock!!

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:18

That is really good to hear markusadam, I still remember when it used to be Bullsmoor (showing old age now).

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:19

yeah i think thats the key isnt it ... where your child would do best...

if i get lvh i think ill look around surley i cant judge a book!!

another member calmed by the fear lol.. so what are the worst schools where we are?

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:19

oh and good luck for your DS.

markusadam · 01/03/2012 16:20

i remember when it was bullsmoor. no one ever wanted to go there. thank god i got in to bishop's!

Stressed6 · 01/03/2012 16:20

my dd has never had an achievement award in year 6. The class teacher had mentioned at the begining of the term that it not for excelling in academics but rather for those who need motivation from time to time, that is, until today :-(. For the first time she has been given recognition!

What does that mean? her class teacher knows something that we don't! Oh dear!

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:21

ah see my friend went bullsmoor husband went kingsmead ... lots of mixed reviews

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:23

mooze, that is the question!! Depending which part you're in, (I'm in bad part) some would not send their children to the school my DS wants, depends what the alternatives are and round here there is nada.

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:24

wow markusadam, I went Bishops!!!!!

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:24

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:25

ok I know where you are mooze...reckon you will get cc then

BoobyBrown · 01/03/2012 16:26

mooze14 · 01/03/2012 16:26
