dd1 is going up in September, had an interview with her year tutor last week and induction days in a couple of weeks.
I've started looking at uniform & it's getting closer!

Well done young corrie! All this emotional stuff is really lovely, but exhausting. I feel really drained tonight. Anyway, six weeks before we all start worrying again!

whoknowswho · 23/07/2011 07:45

Well that's it for DS at primary and not a tear was shed (by him anyway). Had a lovely last week with school concert, a trip and a lovely assembly where he won a couple of awards. He's so ready to go to secondary school I don't know what I've been worrying about!! Next step.... uniform!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2011 07:41

dd hasnt finished yet. Just a few more days. How is everyone doing? EllenJ

Woke up early today having a nightmare that dd had soooooo much homework that she had no time to do anything but homework and school. Then started fretting that we should have sent her to a school that doesnt set so much homework Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2011 07:42

(I know I'm being silly!)

CeliaFate · 24/07/2011 10:08

Not silly at all, OYBBK. I've had anxiety dreams and am worried that with an earlier start time and longer journey to school on the school bus, that dd will be overwhelmed. I'm going to plan treats for the weekends, such as afternoon tea or a visit to the cinema to give her something to look forward to. I'm also going to limit after school clubs to just one a week until she's settled in and feels ready to do more if she wants.

3monkeys · 24/07/2011 10:16

I'm glad all the last day stuff is over - not really DS1's cup of tea!!
Trying to chill over the holidays and not worry until September - did the uniform shop yesterday (now vv skint!!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/07/2011 10:21

arranging treats is a good ideaCelia :) I think dd will have to cut out some stuff initially until she gets used to things. All compounded with me starting my first paying job (as opposed to my voluntary stuff which has expanded to fill most of my time) since she was born. Only 20 hours a week but still....

I think I need to start planning next years family holiday!

maypole1 · 24/07/2011 20:56

Oh my god dd has a summer transition camp on tuesday I hope he like it and makes some friends

We have lots of things planned this summer and the week before he goes back he's going to euro disney so hopefully that I'll end the summer on a high.

HarrietJones · 01/08/2011 10:14

Still need coat, bag, football boots (!), shin pads, shoes

CeliaFate · 01/08/2011 15:20

I've bought all the uniform today too. Nearly £250! . Still got to get shoes, a bag and stationery.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/08/2011 15:24

dd has the basics but needs some blouses, socks (must get the right sort) and shoes. Oh and a dark coat Hmm Bag and stationary too.

I had to restrain myself from buying her lots of lovely stationary today when I was out shopping as she wasnt with me. I reminded myself that my 'lovely' isnt her 'cool'.

HarrietJones · 01/08/2011 15:44

£150 for dd1 so far. But it's the expensive stuff left!

Free Shock

I don't object to the £50 shoes as much as the rest as shoes will last her a while and they are decent ones for that.she doesn't wreck them like dd2 either!

Can I join? My DD3 is going up this September...How do I have 3 children at secondary?! I feel very old. We've had the end of year stuff too - there were lots of tears at the Year 6 assembly, especially when they did their leaving song :(

I should feel less worried as I already have DD1 and DD2 there, but I don't. DD1 took to it like a duck to water, and DD2 has had a much more bumpy ride, so I just hope DD3 is ok. I haven't even started the school shopping yet either. I'm not looking forward to spending on ALL the school uniform, ALL the PE uniform, shoes, bags, stationary...

Plus all 4 DDs need shoes (DD4 is still at primary), DD1 and DD3 need new trainers, DD1 needs a new skirt, possibly DD2 will need one too and to be honest I can't face the bloody battlefield fun experience that skirt AND shoe shopping always is.

ameliagrey · 03/08/2011 07:49

My neighbour recommended this book to me, which she bought last year, and it was very helpful- it covers a lot of topics especially friendships and settling in.

Help! DS1 starts Secondary school on Friday and I've been awake in the early hours for the last 2 nights Sad. Uniform purchased and got trainers, football boots etc yesterday just stationary and a school bag to get now.

We are going to have a day out together to buy them on Thursday and have lunch out then I've taken Friday off work so I can be there for him when he finishes. At least I will have DS2 to distract me during the day!

DS1 has been a nightmare child the last few weeks because he is worried about starting secondary, I'm trying hard to be positive for him but he's so quirky I'm worried about him fitting in Blush

thetasigmamum · 30/08/2011 07:39

I thought we had everything for DS but just realised that in fact we don't have the PE stuff. We have the shirts, but not the rest - socks (fair enough); trainers - expensive but, fair enough; soccer(! It's called football FFS) AND Rugby boots!!!!! This is NOT fair enough. I don't know anything about football or rugby boots. There is a comment in brackets on the list which says 'no plastic studsfor rugby' - what the hell does this mean? Do I seriously have to buy 1 pair trainers, I pair proper football boots and one pair stupid stupid stupid rugby boots? This will be £60 minimum and likely much much more. For something that is as stupid as fuck and that my DS doesn't want to do anyway. He loves sport, but what he likesis swimming and surfing and cycling. Not team games. I'm a footy obsessive myself, DS isn't even interested in that, and AFAIC that's his right. Sure he has to do it at school but I am not imoressed with being forced to pay money I don't have for such useless items. :(

HarrietJones · 30/08/2011 07:43

Dd1 has to have football boots. Don't know why. Shes not happy. I'm only happy cos I fibbed them off on xh to buy

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/08/2011 07:46

Going to get dd to check through everything this morning. We are also gong to have a lesson on 'how to catch a bus' later - they are rare beasties around here.

dd has been a bit stressy and tearful this week, so extra cuddles needed - when she wants them.

thetasigmamum - I seem to remember decathalon have rugby boots that would fit your description. What a lot of footwear!

HarrietJones · 30/08/2011 08:40

Dd1 needs to practice school to Dads. She's ok with our house but his is in the opposite direction & there's a good short cut but not very obvious until you know.

OP posts:
2gorgeousboys · 30/08/2011 16:14

thetasigmamum not sure why they would need both football and rugby boots as DH and DS2 both play rugby for a club and both wear football boots rather than rugby boots Confused

takeonboard · 30/08/2011 19:06

I did hear another parent at DS's school talking about boots with "interchangeable" studs for football and rugby, she got them at a high st sports shop but i don't recall which one.
