dd is driving me mad, tho i did see a bit of panic yesterday...maybe! just a little bit tho :( Thank god she doesn't get study leave or i would kill her.

She got Bs and Cs in her mocks, all ok until you know that she is a straight a student who should also get 3 A* :( I am at the end of my tether with her attitude.

gingeroots · 06/05/2011 09:48

MABS - deep breaths ,if your dd is doing GCSE's then honestly B's and C's will be fine .
It's a lot of subjects they take at GCSE and I think they should be given credit for A's and even C's .
Sorry not explaining myself well - not meaning to criticise ,hoping to encourage you !

MABS · 06/05/2011 09:53

it is GCSEs, thanks gingeroots :)

Just over a week til DS sits his first GCSE. His school have been great, lots of revision teaching for the diiferent ability groups etc, and no study leave, at all, Grin

Still it's just as well, cos there not much revison happening at home....

.....despite DS1 also supposedly revising for A2s.

MABS · 06/05/2011 16:46

same with dd, no study leave, lots of revision classes etc,as you say just as well! she just txt me to say that they did an oral test today on their knowledge of the English set txts, she got an A! bloody miracle as she admits to only half reading em....ggggrrrrrrr

jgbmum · 06/05/2011 18:22

MABS hi - DS2 going to Heathrow next month, all thanks to you! SmileSmile

MABS · 06/05/2011 19:48

so pleased Jgb, tell me when dh said

jgbmum · 07/05/2011 13:06

MABS 18-22 July, he's soooooo excited, DS1 raved about the experience and DS2 is much more practical so I think he'll get even more out of it.

MABS · 08/05/2011 09:23

so very pleased, dh teaching elsewhere then so unlikely to see him. i wish my dd had a practical or aviation interest in any way, would be so much easier! I just trying to drag her thru her exams this month and next :(

NotaMopsa · 08/05/2011 22:32

losing will to live here.
this time next week

mich54321 · 10/05/2011 00:19

started Easter holidays 3 hours per day. Now back at school doing 1-2 hours during week, 3 hours at weekend. Will do 3 - 4 hours during study leave. Also bribing - £10 for each C, £25 each B, £50 each A, £100 A. That seemed to give an incentive, although hope the weather isn't great the next few weeks, it is hard to revise when the sun is shining. Although like WhatsWrongWithYou , every time went in his room was on a "break" on X-Box - so maybe DS hasn't done that much revising after all. He would sure get an A if it was a GCSE in X-Box !

jgbmum · 10/05/2011 07:27

Wow mich, what a generous mum, your system would have cost me £700 when DS1 did his GCSEs 2 summers ago, instead all he got was a family meal out at Las Iguanas!

alice15 · 10/05/2011 09:22

We are now reaching the stage when we will (mostly) be glad when they've started - at least we can start crossing them off then. It'll all be over in seven weeks' time!

MABS · 10/05/2011 14:53

yep, am with you alice, i just sick to death of it, me moaning, she ignoring over and over again ...

mumblechum1 · 11/05/2011 14:44

DS starts next week, he has two English Language exams. Second week, 3 exams, third week, 4 exams etc till 22nd June.

He isn't exactly busting a gut to revise but needs 7A/A*s so he needs to knuckle down soon.

He got his report yesterday which was q good, although his form tutor said he hopes he doesn't get too many Cs Sad.

He can afford to get 2 Cs and 3Bs, but any worse than that and he has a problem.

jgbmum · 11/05/2011 14:55

Mumblechum - why does he need such high grades? Is it for his 6th form entry?

mumblechum1 · 11/05/2011 15:00

No, for sixth form he only needs 2As and 6Bs, but he wants to do medicine, hence 7 A/A*s.

MABS · 11/05/2011 16:37

mine MUST get As in her gcses for the four subject she is going to continue studying we have been told, school are not worried, she is disinterested, i am beyond it all !!

mumblechum1 · 11/05/2011 17:09
