Hi
Apologies if this has been done this year, but I found a similar thread very supportive when DD started the exam treadmill (not at Uni) and we are about to start again with DS.

Milliboy is 15, late Summer baby so cannot get a job until the end of the Summer hols, when they will have all gone. Good news is - this gives him more revision time Grin

He is at a boys selective Grammar school, so the pressure is on to achieve. He also wants to aim for a decent Uni so understands that good GCSE grades are vital.

Still doesn't make the whole process any easier for him or me :)

Who else has boarded the 2011 Exam Express?

No ! Not too harsh at all !
It's only a short time really to be revising and taking exams. They are all going to be having a long ( hot, hopefully ) summer to socialise and party , we are not letting DS out at night until they are over, it's not harsh it's thinking about their future....... That's what I'm telling him anyway !

MABS · 23/05/2011 10:46

no, totally agree, dd has been grounded since first paper last Monday until this Friday. Have said she can go out 2 eves in half term, that is it! Cow arent I?

mumblechum1 · 23/05/2011 11:29

DS keeps telling me he can't find anything else to revise, as he's read over the textbooks, done the test papers in the revision guide and online tests and now has run out of stuff to do.

He's lying isn't he?

He goes out every Fri night till midnight, not during the week though.

MABS · 23/05/2011 12:21

mine says same re revision, she lying too !!

Milliways · 23/05/2011 16:06

DS thought the RE exam today was good. :)

English literature tomorrow morning. My son tells me there's no point in revising as they are allowed to have the texts with them Hmm

MABS · 23/05/2011 17:58

she had none today, English and PE tomorrow, she likes both so am hoping for a flicker of interest maybe ..,

mumblechum1 · 23/05/2011 18:12

DS isn't talking to me today as he phoned me at work when he emerged (at noon) to tell me about a youtube thing. When I asked what revision he was doing today he told me again that there was nothing to revise, that 70% in Chemistry is an A Hmm and then put the phone down.

I don't normally nag him to revise but he seems to have ground to a halt now and is going to Devon for half term with his mates so there'll be no work done that week...

MABS · 23/05/2011 18:33

aaargggh Mumblchum, i feel your pain :(

balia · 23/05/2011 18:47

MABS · 24/05/2011 09:15

dd has Engl lit and PE today, right cow this am :(

MABS · 24/05/2011 11:52

DD just called and said English Lit was very good! that's a worry...

Cupawoman · 24/05/2011 16:43

MABS DS said Eng Lit was fine too - he is just relieved that he never has to look at those particular books again Smile

roisin · 24/05/2011 16:58

We were pleased with the lit papers - very fair.

Milliways · 24/05/2011 17:03

DS found the Eng Lit ok as well - just seemed very long!

MABS · 24/05/2011 17:04

that's good to hear :) dd called me and said she cocked up a question in the PE by reading it as the local ed authority, but it should have been local authority :( We will see.

Merrylegs · 24/05/2011 17:30

DS said the PE was really easy. Which always worries me because I always think "are you sure? Did you read the questions properly?"

emmspemms · 24/05/2011 17:42

English Lit....." I've never been so bored in my life."
Oh dear.
Pours herself a large glass of White.
DT and Chemistry to look forward to tomorrow.

Milliways · 24/05/2011 17:45

Emmspemms: DS did say that this was the first exam he had ever been bored in! Luckily he also thought he has done ok, and said he did "get into it" but is was very lon and boring.

Aargh! Sticky keys (no "G" "F" and others take 4 bashes). Blush

OP posts:
MABS · 24/05/2011 18:07

yep, i heard long, boring and pointless too. Chemistry tomorrow will be a disaster, so glad she can't read this ;-) Emmspemms, pour me one too ...

mumblechum1 · 24/05/2011 18:41

DS described Eng lit as a piece of cake, and said he didn't need to do anywhere near as much revision as h had done Hmm
