In Scotland, is it more

Roo ree
Roo uh ree

Something else?

Thanks!

Sometimes there's almost a little.pause or an i in the middle to make it Roo-ih-ray

That's exactly how I say it. It's subtle but it's there.

Same here. It's not even a half syllable but like a breath almost with an ih or uh sound. I do the same with Niamh and Catriona (so like nee-uhv and cat-ree-uh-na) but the uh is very very slight and barely noticeable. It's hard to explain if you're not Scottish or Irish I would say as some of us do it instinctively, same with rolling my Rs, I really don't realise I'm doing it but it's also not every time and it's subtle.

Roo-a-ray. Or in Gaelic Roo-a-they. Spelling Ruairidh. Ruairi is the anglicisation of Ruairidh, translation of Roderick.

Ruairí is the Irish spelling.
