Post graduation ceremony evening meal for four. Two modern parents 😉with two young men.

Something quicky, something delicious. I've looked at Michelin starred but really can't justify the price. I've also considered The Butchers Shop/Spanish Butcher and SixbyNico - but are these glorified chains?
Really love independents!

Preferably central Glasgow or Shawlands and surrounding. We can get a taxi elsewhere of course.

Unalome

LizzieMacQueen · 23/10/2022 21:32

The Anchorline - st vincent street
Mahrsanta - merchant city

Both excellent IMHO

janeseymour78 · 23/10/2022 21:45

Agree with Anchorline and also Cafe Andaluz. Both opposite each other in city centre.

Arewethebadguys · 23/10/2022 21:52

Finnieston os a food lover's heaven

Crabshakk
The Finnieston
Ox and Finch
Porter and Rye

Etc etc. Something for everyone

DrFoxtrot · 23/10/2022 22:00

We recently went to and enjoyed The Anchor Line and Sugo (pasta dishes).

Lulanna · 23/10/2022 22:01

Thank you so much. I will follow up online with more info.

Lobo in strathbungo is excellent.

NoDairyNoProblem · 23/10/2022 22:10

The Anchorline is always exceptional.
The Crabshak never fails.
Celentanos is just over a year old but a firm favourite for superb seasonal food.

Cafe Andaluz/Sugo etc aren’t my idea of a graduation meal.

Lulanna · 23/10/2022 23:00

So difficult to get a sense of the atmosphere of the restaurants on line....
A little gem still to be found...

Trip advisor doesn't help - small and cosy for one customer is claustrophobic to another.

I absolutely love The Ubiquitous Chip but it’s maybe not fancy enough for a graduation meal.

Cafe Andaluz is fab but it is a chain and not especially fancy.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/10/2022 23:06

I came here to say ubiquitous chip.

MaChienEstUnDick · 23/10/2022 23:30

The Chip has been sold folks, and to Greene King at that (pub chain).

Unalome, Cail Bruich, Crabbshakk is immense but quite casual, as is Ka Pao - go there for lunch maybe as it is so good. Bilson 11 also excellent and I actually really liked the Spanish Butcher. Brian Maule at Chandon D'Or, or the classic - Two Fat Ladies.

LifeIsJustOneBigWTAF · 23/10/2022 23:40

Another vote for Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery. Was there for a family celebration earlier this year - classic food and good old fashioned eservice in a historic Glasgow building. The surrounding area isn't the prettiest but the venue itself is spot on.

LifeIsJustOneBigWTAF · 23/10/2022 23:42

*good old fashioned EXCELLENT service

agnesmartin · 23/10/2022 23:46

Sixteen
Bar Brett
Celentanos

Our current faves - all would be great for graduation meal.

small and cosy with great food .

Great food but more “industrial” feel to the restaurant

Nice place. Bit harder to get to

RunnerDown · 23/10/2022 23:55

Had great food at the Spanish butcher. But depending what you have it can be very expensive.
The Butchershop does great steak but is very expensive and a bit pretentious imo.

Michellebops · 23/10/2022 23:56

The meat joint in Sauchiehall street is the little gem you are looking for.

Small, intimate, amazing food and friendly staff

Itawapuddytat · 24/10/2022 16:42

The Gannet in Finnieston

Selkiesarereal · 24/10/2022 22:26

Red onion is worth checking out.

Tiredoftiers · 24/10/2022 22:27

Ox and finch would be my suggestion. Tapas style food, some really amazing dishes. Decent prices too.
ka pao sister restaurant but south East Asian, also really good.

Lulanna · 26/10/2022 13:58

Thank you. I am liking the look of Red Onion, with an owner-chef.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 26/10/2022 15:45

Hmmm kitchin in Edinburgh is owner-chef and that has very mixed reviews because the guy is so emotional.

CSJ113 · 31/10/2022 15:56

Ox and Finch
Ka Pao (same people as Ox and Finch btw) - good but not sure I'd go for such a special occasion
The Gannet - v good
The Finnieston (reliable, seafood)
Shucks (seafood - part of Cail Bruich group which IMO is best food in Glasgow - really good for a celebratory atmosphere)
No. 16 - v small and cosy, excellent food
Celentanos - good food, sometimes a bit different, a bit out of the way though close to Strathclyde Uni.
Spanish Butcher if they like meat.

A couple of people have suggested Sugo - it's great but more cheap and cheerful.
