Can anyone recommend anywhere? On my list so far is Anchor Line, Ralph & Finns, The Ivy and Ox and Finch. But they're all really similar.
Six by Nick and Beat 6 are out as I'm going there with other people.

I'm vegetarian so needs to be veggie friendly and preferably in the city centre.

Fanny Trollopes was lovely last time we visited.

wevemadeitagain · 16/01/2022 13:51

Ubiquitous Chip (it’s Ashton Lane but near the tube). Can’t beat it!

Appin · 16/01/2022 13:53

Five March?

RJnomore1 · 16/01/2022 13:54

No 16? West end again but a hop and skip from the subway

ParkheadParadise · 16/01/2022 14:01

Another vote for Ubiquitous Chip.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

fibag29 · 16/01/2022 14:04

The Gannet is fantastic

RosaBaby2 · 16/01/2022 14:05

Another vote for Fanny Trollopes and they are so accommodating to dietary requirements and allergies, contact them ahead of time. Fabulous ☺️

massistar · 16/01/2022 14:07

Ox and Finch is amazing. I've had 2 terrible meals in The Anchor Line. Overpriced and overrated.

massistar · 16/01/2022 14:08

Yes The Gannet also fabulous!

SkiingIsHeaven · 16/01/2022 14:16

Another for Ubiquitous Chip

MotherNaturesSon · 16/01/2022 14:32

Glasgow has restaurants? Didn't even think they had electricity there

Shmippy · 16/01/2022 14:39

Alchemilla

Shmippy · 16/01/2022 14:42

I wouldn't bother with The Ivy. It's just a naff chain.

SunonmyFace · 16/01/2022 14:43

I’ve got unalome booked for DH’s 50th

PARunnerGirl · 16/01/2022 14:54

Unalome as a PP said.
Gloriosa, also in Finnieston but the west end (think it used to be Firebird)
La Laterna (city or GWR)
I quite liked Opium recently, but it’s not that comfortable and it is expensive.

I’m not sure what “vibe” you want, but I’ve had great birthday celebrations in Loon Fung (although it’s fast, bright and loud!)

From your examples, I don’t think you want casual but if you change or mind or are having any other nights out, Stereo and the 78 are my go-to bars for good vegan food and drinks with friends.

Have fun!

PARunnerGirl · 16/01/2022 14:56

@MotherNaturesSon I thought I’d give you this: 🙄🥱 since you’re probably feeling inadequate that your hilarious post didn’t get any laughs or even acknowledgement.

Blueberrycreampie · 16/01/2022 14:59

Following as visiting soon!

Yellow85 · 16/01/2022 15:06

Would recommend the Anchorline, I much prefer the Citizen that part of town.

I’d 100% go for Ox and Finch based on the food. I do find it quite casual in terms of atmosphere and dress though.

PARunnerGirl · 16/01/2022 15:10

@Shmippy I absolutely loved Alchemilla- I totally forgot about it and haven’t been for ages!

Sorry ‘wouldn’t recommend’

The Boothy just off Byers road is wonderful. The waiters all wear kilts and it has a large private dining room.

Plump82 · 16/01/2022 16:56

We want somewhere a bit dressy but not stuffy where we can't be relaxed. ! Really don't want the West End due to where our group are coming from. But will have a look at the suggestions just incase they're too good to miss.
Stereo and 78 are fab but definitely not for this birthday plus I'm the only vegetarian so I wouldn't want to force my friends to eat veggie (not that they'd mind)

Brian Maule, Spanish butcher, Red onion

Haudyourwheesht · 16/01/2022 20:42

Red Onion or Ardnamurchan are both nice. They'd be good for big groups too I think.

RJnomore1 · 16/01/2022 22:01

The Spanish butcher is lovely but I’m not sure how veggie friendly they are - the fish is incredible
