Both good ideas @ElephantOfRisk and @WouldBeGood thanks though not quite right for me this time. A drive out somewhere and a light bite would be good - though not Peebles or falls of dochart (visit family in both regularly). Have been to Modern recently and walked around there a fair bit (nothing like a couple of lockdowns to put you off local walks). I'm in Edinburgh.

I think covid had ruined my ability to make plans and get excited about them!

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2022 08:53

Pub, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo? 😃

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2022 08:55

Or pop through to Glasgow and get the best ever fried chicken in KaPao 😍

Groovee · 13/01/2022 09:12

Good luck at the GP @shouldistop

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo what about heading up to St Andrews or somewhere like Loch Leven for a stroll and light lunch?

@ElephantOfRisk well done to your DS1.

Not much happening here. It's all a bit blah just now.

prettybird · 13/01/2022 11:17

Good on your ds1 @ElephantOfRisk - I know how challenging it must have been for him. Star

shouldistop · 13/01/2022 17:37

GP had a look in his ears and couldn't see anything obvious so he's referred him to audiology.
Ds mentioned that the noise distracts him during writing time at school. I'm assuming it's because the class is quiet then.
Shall I email his teacher to let him know and to mention his referral? I know there's nothing he can do but just to give him a heads up.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/01/2022 18:35

I would shouldistop. If he notices your DS is distracted then it would be helpful for him to have the context.

I would. It helps if staff know things so that they can adapt things if they feel they need to. There's nothing worse than scratching your head at a child then the parent telling you way after.
ElephantOfRisk · 13/01/2022 19:13

Yes, it's audiology that DS1 is referred to. He had an initial referral to local service and then referral onto a consultant. To save some of the waiting he went to Boots to get a hearing test first.

The other thing to be be aware of is that I think it's normal to have some background noise/whistles in your head/ears but once you start focussing on it you can't stop noticing it. DS1 plays music so he notices it less, i think he finds it worse when he is trying to go to sleep. I'm not sure if they would let him play soft music via headphones when he is sitting at quiet activities would they? You can get whole playlists of suitable stuff to distract.

A year today, Mr G turned yellow. If it hadn't been for you guys I might not have got through so many nights as easily.

God, yeah it was a year ago as ds2 was a newborn. I remember the chat.
WouldBeGood · 14/01/2022 14:41

Oh my goodness @groovee! What a year.

Raising a toast with my mug of tea to MrGroovee’s recovery and a better year for you guys.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/01/2022 16:19

Flowers for you and MrGroovee!

Today has been A Day.

We are now out of isolation - hooray! I celebrated by getting an hour to myself to be boosted and go to the supermarket.

Took the children and dog and a plant for the lady who walked the dog for us while we were in isolation out this afternoon. Had to send the eldest back on her own as she was being awful (it was close, no problem).

And DD2's tooth has come out after she bit one of her sister's toys to get her back for being mean to her.

I am glad it's the weekend.

Groovee · 14/01/2022 18:08

Thanks 🥰🥰

Ah @GrouchyKiwi my 2 have had their moments. TBH they still do at 19 and 21 😳

shouldistop · 14/01/2022 19:37

Grin sorry, but that made me laugh.

Toddler DS has started shouting at and pushing big DS off my knee if we're having a cuddle. He's only 13 months and already jealous! Big DS thinks it's hilarious but in another years time I don't think he'll find it funny.

Haudyourwheesht · 14/01/2022 21:42

My 2 year old is very shouty at the moment. Shouting at us from morning till night. Hoping it's a phase. Confused

titsintiers · 15/01/2022 20:03

My 11 year old has been bloody trying this month, every discussion is punctuated by bloody attitude.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/01/2022 20:16

It's a good thing they're all cute, right?

GrouchyKiwi · 15/01/2022 20:17

The children didn't turn the Christmas tree lights on today, for the first time since we put it up at the end of November, so I guess that's a sign that it's time to take it down. We've been reluctant this year; usually we take it down on 6th January very happily, but we've needed the cheer it brings.

ElephantOfRisk · 15/01/2022 21:48

Shouty 2 year old reflected in your username @Haudyourwheesht? Grin

DC are definitely trying, and cute. My cute 20 year old DS went back to uni yesterday, house feels a bit empty but the dishwasher cycle seems to be back to a normal equilibrium and there are actual glasses left in the cupboard when you want one! I miss him but I know he is happy and that's what counts eh?

I would quite like to have my two back as toddlers again. I'm sure I'd do a better job 2nd time around Grin

I have nice news. Dd has got engaged. But I can't share it anywhere. Being cooped up with us for over 3 weeks hasn't put him off.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/01/2022 19:39

Congratulations, GrooveeDD and fiance! That is indeed lovely news.

Well done for not being too terrifying during your incarceration. Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 16/01/2022 19:53

Aww lovely news @groovee, this is shaping up to be a better year for you all.

Ooh, that’s lovely @Groovee!
