Still plenty to chat about. Remember this isn't fight club. Nice chatting required..... Grin

Has anyone been to Pease Bay caravan park on holiday?

shouldistop · 02/01/2022 20:40

Fucking hell. Im on a thread where the parents are isolating from their 6yo son, leaving him alone most of the day incase he catches Covid from them even though he just had it last week. Wtf is wrong with people?! I don't think it's a troll either.

WouldBeGood · 02/01/2022 20:45

That’s really disturbing @shouldistop. So sad.

I was on one where someone wanted to mask their two year old.

Least we are normal over here 😃

ElephantOfRisk · 02/01/2022 20:58

that's awful @shouldistop.

It's time for those with brains to re-engage them and think about what they are doing to themselves and those they love, and for those without, to just fuck off. I know it's nice chat so apologies for swearing. For my own health now i need to step away from a lot of the idiocy and block as much as possible out. It makes me too angry and I'll end up having a heart attack. So trying to be zen now Grin

ElephantofRisk - I've interviewed for students wanting to do placements required by their degrees over the last two years, and they've worked okay over Teams. I think as employers we generally accept candidates are more nervous than they would normally be in person - although for students born this century, i think they prefer online. On the dress code, i would say smart shirt. Shirt and tie has been dieing out for 10 years in my industry, even for important meetings. Hair and beard trimmed neatly

Thats bloody child abuse Angry
ElephantOfRisk · 02/01/2022 21:33

Thank you @Tomorrowisanewday that's really useful. I think he might be less nervous in an on-line interview as he won't have had the nerves about getting to right place and worrying about timing and then having to speak to reception etc etc. He'll be in his own environment and I guess immediately speaking to the people interviewing. That's what I am thinking anyway. I just hope he gets through this first one without any real issues so that it will make the next one he has less traumatic.

He might surprise you and smash it @ElephantOfRisk. How good would that be 🤞

Tomorrowisanewday · 02/01/2022 21:51

ElephantofRisk - I'm sure he's aleady thought about it, but i'd make sure he has a knowledge of current recent news stories in his industry. One of my interview questions is always

Tomorrowisanewday · 02/01/2022 21:52

"What are the issues currently affecting our industry most"?

ssd · 02/01/2022 21:55

Good question!

Tomorrowisanewday · 02/01/2022 22:01

It's partly to gauge that they're looking at more than just the course content, but also to start a conversation. It's easier for anyone to talk about something from their knowledge, rather than having to give an opinion, which they could be nervous about it not being the same as their interviewer

ElephantOfRisk · 02/01/2022 22:12

I'd love him to smash it ssd. It's just difficult to know to play it with him.

That's useful again with the question tomorrow, I told him to think about some questions to ask and ask any that haven't already been answered or try to reference back to something they've said to show you've been listening, I'm really not sure if he's capable of that yet. I suspect it might be rabbit in the headlights.

Over the years we've tried to get him to practice talks or conversations with us but he has mostly ended up in tears but I think it might be easier with strangers in a way. But on the counter side he has in the past participated in debates at scouts and won. 🤷‍♀️

I just noticed your comment this afternoon @groovee.

That upside down thing must have been really funny. I'm glad you felt it was straightforward and easier online.

He doesn't have an opinion on anything that he will express. He's been like that since school. He would only answer a question if it was factual. So he'd be happy to say that Tommy is wearing blue trousers but he won't answer if asked if he thinks Tommy likes his blue trousers.

Here's hoping he clicks a bit with the interviewer. Im keeping my fingers crossed for him.

ElephantOfRisk · 02/01/2022 23:24

Thanks ssd. Whilst he's applied to a lot of higher profile places, it would be good to get this one and for him to maybe have to live away for a few weeks, even if it is with his his little brother and girlfriend.

I've read that 6 year old thread too. Poor boy.

Apparently they tried to sort it out but the person was adamant there was nothing wrong 😂😂
Groovee · 02/01/2022 23:39

I have no idea how but I had a PCR this morning as my throat was odd. I've not caught Covid at all despite very little distancing.

Groovee · 03/01/2022 19:30

My isolation is up at midnight 🎉🎉🎉

prettybird · 03/01/2022 19:33

Good luck to your ds1 @ElephantOfRisk Smile

ElephantOfRisk · 03/01/2022 19:36

That's good @groovee, you could nip to a night club...oh wait....Grin

Thanks pb, we've started on getting him to prepare and I'm currently investigating his interest in a hair cut and beard trim. I just don't want him to shave the beard off as he looks better with it I think.

Woohoo @Groovee

I'm in bed already Blush we're going hillwalking tomorrow morning then I'm back at work Wednesday so trying to get some rest.

Groovee · 03/01/2022 22:20

I'll most likely be asleep. So much to get done tomorrow.
