Stuff the bathroom, it'll still be there next week

It'll be even dirtier by then Shock😣

We're having everyone to ours on Christmas Day so the house needs to be semi respectable and hygienic Grin

ecceromani · 21/12/2021 15:09

I'm spending a lovely afternoon watching dr Zhivago, drinking tea and wrapping stocking fillers.
Last opportunity while everyone's outSmile

ssd · 21/12/2021 17:50

Give them a drink at the door @shouldistop. They'll not see the dirt Grin

@ecceromani, sounds lovely. I had a nice walk and lunch out, good to do something nice.

titsintiers · 21/12/2021 19:32

Everyone round to @ssd's amazing hospitality handing out drinks on the way in!

Grin I did manage to clean one bathroom today so guests will be directed to that one! Cleaned my bedroom too. Feel quite accomplished (and a little bit pissed as im out)

best start to a function, sugar cube in the bottom of a glass, add a measure of brandy and top with sparkly wine, repeat as necessary...Grin

Ohh that sounds lovely @ElephantOfRisk

ElephantOfRisk · 21/12/2021 19:50

The fizz mainlines the brandy straight into your bloodstream getting everyone merry pretty quickly. Grin

My parents used to go to a Christmas Day lunchtime drinks party at some neighbours where champaign cocktails were served up liberally (and they were already in large glasses).

The first Christmas after I'd gone up Uni (and therefore started drinking alcohol Xmas Wink), I didn't make it to our Christmas dinner Xmas Blush

Fortunately, our "main" Christmas dinner is on Christmas Eve Xmas Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 21/12/2021 20:22

Ha ha @prettybird, yes it's meant to be champagne but i don't mix in champagne circles Xmas Grin

I've no idea if it was real champagne -wouldn't have thought to ask. We'd use the Lidl Pinot-Chardonnay sparkling wine, which is even cheaper, at £4.99, than their Cava Xmas Smile It makes a mean cocktail with some of our plum gin Xmas Grin

rookiemere · 21/12/2021 22:38

I've splashed out - got a bottle of Tesco champagne (. £10 for clubcard holders) for either CD or NYE.

Groovee · 22/12/2021 15:00

Sorry not been here in ages. Just finished tablet cheesecake making for Christmas Day.

Trying to relax but I just can't

Groovee · 22/12/2021 15:03

@shouldistop I sorted the bathroom out at the weekend. Dd is home so I bellowed her up to bin whatever empty bottles she had lying.

It looks great but this morning she's dumped a pack of 30 lateral flow tests on the shelf and now it looks untidy.

rookiemere · 22/12/2021 15:49

I keep trying to relax but martyrish wfh DH keeps finding jobs for me Hmm. Oh as if on cue the washing machine has pinged - he brought the load down for me to do, how kind.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/12/2021 15:53

We're all unwell with colds so it's all a bit grumpy here at Chez Grouchy. We're meant to be going for a wander to look at Christmas decorations tonight; suspect I'll have to bully everyone into it. But the children need to get some exercise so they have No Choice.

Lidlfix · 22/12/2021 16:13

New parenting achievement- FaceTiming DD4 to show her the contents of the fridge. Being creative to tempt her Covidnumbed taste. And delivering to her bedroom room door.

DD2 complained she did not get this service last week. She was enduring the hangover from hell and I had the not Covid cold from hell. I did bring her water to sip as lay in the bathroom floor.

I am awarding myself Prosecco in the hot tub (in the pissin rain) for my services to my offspring Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 22/12/2021 16:21

Man that sounds good @Lidlfix, you sure you don't need me to pop round with some groceries?! Xmas Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 22/12/2021 16:23

I'm trying to decide what we can have for dinner since the thing i'd planned required me to marinate the meat yesterday. Looks like it's going to be pasta. Dh and his protein obsession will not be happy but he can make himself something else from anything in the fridge that isn't for Christmas.

OP posts:
GrouchyKiwi · 22/12/2021 16:26

Pasta often has egg in it so it's totally a protein. Grin

ssd · 22/12/2021 17:07

@Groovee, tablet cheesecake sounds utterly amazing.

And prosecco in the hot tub, wow, i wouldn't mind that myself Xmas Grin

I went into Glasgow for a wander in the peeing rain today, god its awful, so many places closed or boarded up. Depressing.

Groovee · 22/12/2021 17:14

We having cheeseburger pasta. So delicious.

Tablet cheesecake is divine but first time I have made both the tablet and the cheesecake myself.
