I know lots of younger ones still waiting for first dose but has anyone had their second dose yet? And was it at 12 weeks? I’ve just been told by the helpline that mine will be >14 weeks but the health board says it’s fine ( Lothian). Just wondered if anyone else is in the same situation?

Friends 86 year old mother is now post 12 weeks first doze and doesn't have a date for her 2nd doze despite enquiring - greater glasgow area. She is now housebound but as a consequence has more people in the house as carers and other health care people are in and it's making her anxious.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/05/2021 15:04

In Lothian, a family member in East Lothian was given an appointment in Bo'ness - no idea what is going on in Lothian.

latissimusdorsi · 16/05/2021 15:20

I would really hope Scotland will be following the new JCVI guidance and shortening 2nd dose to 8 weeks for over 50s. Can't see why we wouldn't🤷🏼‍♀️ except that areas like Lothian don't seem to have enough capacity to keep up!

Groovee · 16/05/2021 16:17

I'm Lothian and was given the first dose in March and my second dose is June after phoning the helpline.

Everyone done the same time as me is this coming week.

gollymissdolly · 16/05/2021 16:25

I'm in Lothian and had my 2nd vaccination last weekend which made it 9 weeks between vaccines.DH gets his 2nd Covid jag at the end of this month ,10 weeks after his first dose.

Belindabelle · 16/05/2021 16:29

I am 8 weeks post first dose AZ. 12 weeks is up middle of June. I had a terrible reaction and therefore I am in no hurry to get my second dose. I will have it but not keen to have it 4 weeks early.

DH is away with work and won’t be able to get his second dose to 14 weeks.

Sturmundcalm · 16/05/2021 16:32

Highland health board and so far most folk I know got their second dose about 8 weeks after first.

DrWankincense · 16/05/2021 16:34

Good to know, I'll bug DH to call as he's now 10 weeks after the 1st one and we are Lothians.

RedcurrantPuff · 16/05/2021 16:38

I had mine about 10 weeks my dad had to wait to 14 weeks as he’d had chemo.

dancemom · 16/05/2021 16:48

I'm at 8 weeks tomorrow but when I enquired I was told my next one hasn't been scheduled yet

VaccinatedBeforeTime · 16/05/2021 17:14

Fife, age 50+. My 2nd dose was scheduled for 10 weeks after the first. But I phoned up, they had free spaces so had it done at 7 weeks.

prettybird · 18/05/2021 15:26

My dh (62) has just got his appointment for his 2nd vaccine. First one was in mid March and his 2nd one is a week today - so just over 2 months between them. Glasgow.

My 1st jag was about 2 weeks after his, so I should be getting my notification in a couple of weeks.

Icannever · 18/05/2021 15:29

I’ve just been sent an appointment for 9 1/2 weeks after my my first one. In Fife and it was AZ

emmathedilemma · 18/05/2021 15:54

There seems to be quite a mix in Lothian region. I know people who've had their second much quicker than 12 weeks and others who are now logging "missing appointment" enquiries because they're nearly at or over the 12 weeks and haven't had anything.

ElephantOfRisk · 18/05/2021 16:10

I think you can see how some people are missing appointments. My niece in East Lothian was given an appointment that would mean a 70 mile round trip, during the day (she works in a school) a week away and she also has school age DC. She managed to get it changed but didn't have many options but at the end of the day, she drives and has access to a car so could have just about managed it. Lots of folk not so easy. My Brother and SiL on the East side of Edinburgh got the Royal Highland centre but just went anyway as they are retired and have a car, yet another family member just a couple of streets away got the drive through centre at the QMU in Musselburgh. It all just seems so random and unnecessarily complicated.

prettybird · 19/05/2021 16:21

My husband is getting his 2nd jag next week, about 10 weeks after his 1st. Letter arrived yesterday. I'm presuming my letter will be arriving in about 2 weeks, as my 1st jag was roughly 2 weeks after his. Smile

cooperage · 19/05/2021 16:25

Sorry, but I'm sniggering at the dozes and jags.

Where can I get them and are they free? Grin

prettybird · 20/05/2021 10:20

You do realise that "jag" is the Scottish term for "jab"? Confused And that this is in Scotsnet? Wink

Mistressinthetulips · 21/05/2021 10:28

Do we know is it now policy in Scotland to make the gap 8 weeks not 12?
I'm heading towards 8 and just wondering.

LizzieMacQueen · 21/05/2021 10:32

@Mistressinthetulips I've been wondering this too as I have just passed my 8 week mark. I couldn't find anything to say they were.

Mistressinthetulips · 21/05/2021 10:35

Are you thinking of phoning them up, Lizzie? I've just checked my calendar and I'm at 7 weeks exactly.

latissimusdorsi · 21/05/2021 10:38

Don't think Scotland have changed to 8 weeks. I'm in Lothian and know couple people age 59 who just received dates for 2nd jab and both will be about 10 weeks.

Groovee · 21/05/2021 10:39

I'm not getting mine for another 12 days and I'm 11 weeks and 1 day.
latissimusdorsi · 21/05/2021 10:41

Don't know why Scotland aren't going for 8 weeks. It's JCVI recommendation now

latissimusdorsi · 21/05/2021 10:42

I should say recommendation for over 50s
