Glaswegian 40-45 yr olds - have you had your blue letter yet?

I'm 42, OH is 43, both fit and healthy. Non-HCPs, no underlying conditions or caring responsibilities. Surnames both at the latter end of the alphabet.

Has anybody similar to us had theirs yet? I don't want to bother my GP, but I'm thinking we can't be far off now?

That doesn’t sound right @AthelstaneTheUnready 45-49 should have appointments set up by now. Are you registered with a GP and haven’t moved area recently? Do you have friends or family of a similar age to check if they’ve got theirs?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/05/2021 13:22

You'd have hoped! Yes, registered with this GP for over 2 years now. Most local friends are in the 55+ ranges and having their second.

They found me on the list, so I am visible, but said they were going to send the letters out 'soon', and suppose the date is fixed when the letters are prepared. Assume they've been focusing on second jabs here.

Is anyone having any luck in rebooking their vaccine appointments? We finally got ours after calling, but the timing is really bad and I can't find any free appointments in Edinburgh. Checked 4 different centres up to June and there is literally 0 slots.

tiredoftiers · 08/05/2021 14:16

They are about to prioritise everyone living within moray. They claim the vaccination rate is limited by supply so I wonder if it could have a knock on effect on other areas.

naemates · 08/05/2021 14:44

I'm in South Lanarkshire, DH had his around a month ago and could choose from any of the SL locations and loads of dates/times. I just got mine through yesterday, tried to rearrange and there are no timeslots at all.

rainbowunicorn · 08/05/2021 17:42

@emmathedilemma the Highland healthboard are not sending letters, it is all done via the GP surgery or GP clinics in town halls etc. GP's are phoning or texting patients as well as putting info on Social Media asking patients of a certain age to contact them to arrange vaccine.

Some areas are doing better than others. My local area has not started the under 50's yet as they have made the decision to do 2nd doses for all those that have had their first so far. They are calling for 2nd dose at 8 weeks plus. At the moment they are doing 2nd doses for 60 to 65, plus mopping up age 50's that have not had their first for any reason. they will then do 2nd dose for those aged 50 plus that have had their first 8 weeks or more ago. It will only then that they start doing the age 45 to 49 year olds.

It is highly likely that some surgeries in my area will not have started the age 45 to 49 group until nearing the end of the month.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 08/05/2021 19:53

@Callisto1
the rebooking system is completely random. Nothing shows for ages and then an odd slot pops up. I got into a routine of checking 4-5 times a day and eventually I found something but it was a PITA

Callisto1 · 08/05/2021 21:50

Thanks @NotSoLongGoodbye sounds PITA but hopefully I'll manage to find something too.

41 in Glasgow, DH 40, nothing yet. From reading this it seems Glasgow hasn't got round to the early 40s group yet?

Serpenta · 10/05/2021 11:26

44 in Glasgow and bored waiting for my letter

mumto2unicorns · 13/05/2021 15:57

I phoned up yesterday, my husband and I have appointments in for the 26th. Our letters must be on their way but it is good to know when

mumto2unicorns · 13/05/2021 15:58

Sorry forgot to say Glasgow health board

Fabuleuse · 13/05/2021 16:45

DH, 44, Renfrewshire hasn't had letter but I just phoned the helpline and his appointment is arranged for 27th May. I'm 36 and unsurprisingly there wasn't anything arranged for me yet.

suggestionsplease1 · 14/05/2021 09:45

41, nothing here yet in Glasgow. Does anyone know the process of how the letters are being sent out - I tried to sign up to a GP in my local area 6 weeks ago after 3 years of not needing one and old one being at a previous address, but getting nowhere fast with that - no acknowledgement of forms sent, or answers on phone. Can see from Google reviews for the practice many are having same issue.

Anyway, will that make a difference to receiving the letter? I'm on the electoral roll if they're using that.

Fabuleuse · 14/05/2021 09:58

@suggestionsplease1 I would phone up the number to check if you are in the system, it was very efficient. Choose option 2. I got told I was 15th in the queue then it was answered within a minute. They just need your name, DoB and postcode and they will tell you if and when there is an appointment booked for you even if the letter hasn't been sent yet.

LadyJaye · 14/05/2021 10:28

Forgot to update - finally got mine on Wednesday!

suggestionsplease1 · 14/05/2021 10:32

Ah thanks @Fabuleuse! I will maybe give it a couple of weeks as I don't think they are doing early 40s in my neck of the woods yet anyway but I'll do that then to check if I exist on the system at that point!

That's the 0800 030 8013 I'm guessing - vaccine enquiries line?

suggestionsplease1 · 14/05/2021 10:41

@LadyJaye

Forgot to update - finally got mine on Wednesday!
Good stuff!
dementedpixie · 15/05/2021 17:26

That's me had my first injection today - age 47, North Lanarkshire. Dh got his too so we had a family trip to Ravenscraig recreational facility.

Hoping I dont get too many side effects

RooMama · 15/05/2021 18:30

I turn 40 later this month. I cracked it and called the hotline the other day to see if I was booked in yet. Both my and DH (42) bookings are in about 10 days. We haven't got letters yet and many are running late apparently so I'd give them a call if you're waiting. We're glasgow southside but not in the areas where they are currently accelerating vaccinations.
