Vaccination plans for Scotland

I'm posting here as I can't find any great online about this. Can anyone point me towards plans for Scotland's COVID vaccination for primary care? I'm frontline NHS and received my first dose mid December but to be honest I'm more concerned about when my 78 year old DM and 79 year old in laws will get their vaccine. On Twitter I see multiple tweets from English GPs stating they have vaccinated all the over 80s in their area and are on to overt 70s now.
I just don't seem to be getting the same feelings of impatience in Scotland re the rollout compared with England.

Was scotland not prioritising care home residents and staff first? GPs are apparently doing the over 80s vaccines. My gp is holding a clinic on 30th January for that age group so will be contacting them over the next couple of weeks

My 80+ DPs live in Perth. They were asked on Thursday to contact the GPS and are receiving their first dose today and second scheduled at end of March.

My friends DPs are in a care home in Ayr, last I heard they still weren't getting it as apparently 90% of residents need to consent, and in a care home that's difficult to achieve.

Also heard of another case where 97 year old housebound man is being marked as a refuser as he cannot make it to GPS for vaccination.

It is happening, but there doesn't seem to be the same drive to do it or tell us about it as there is in England. Still with elections in May she'll not want to be trailing behind so I'm hopeful it will gather some pace once supplies are distributed and I have to say I'm pleased DPs are getting theirs in GPS rather than in a big walk in centre with loads of people and chances of infection.

Scot Gov have finally allowed the Army to help - the offer has been there for a while but not taken up - with the Scots Dragoon Guards now supplying troops to set up vaccination stations. Might get things moving now

rookiemere · 18/01/2021 11:16

I think - to be fair- for the over 80s it's probably a lot more appropriate that they get their vaccine at a GPS which is familiar and easy for them to get to - rather than a mobile site which might involve queuing outside and also carries a bit more risk of spreading, if anyone there has covid-19.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 12:23

The vaccine targets have been halved from 1 million to 500k by end January

BBCONEANDTWO · 18/01/2021 12:26

Oh no why

dementedma · 18/01/2021 12:30

in Scotland?

Piggywaspushed · 18/01/2021 18:02

Is anyone Borders? My DF, 80, no spleen, has not heard a thing.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 18:08

Yes, in Scotland.
No reading given it was just in the new plan.

But rates are now massively below England

This is bad news.

@Outsidemum1 daily rates for Scotland and Wales were pretty meaningless today as three days of numbers were reported at once (following none over the weekend), whereas the numbers for England and NI are one day only (as they WERE actually reporting over the weekend). This is why Tabby changed to a rolling seven day average, which clearly shows Scotland and Wales well below England and NI (with Scotland actually slightly below Wales).

That bar chart is per 100k so still showing Scotland behind.

That's good news!

Happytentoes · 19/01/2021 17:53

In Aberdeen; 90+ MIL has heard nothing.
She lives independently but is terrified to leave her home and is becoming debilitated as a result.

Torvean32 · 19/01/2021 23:31

England have not vaccinated all the over 80s and front line health workers who are supposed to be first.
Some areas are doing well and will start writing to over 70s but not all.

Scotland started with care homes and NHS staff. They claim that's why it's taking longer. However they've held back around 1/3 of vaccinations for a second dose , where England are trying to get at least 1 dose into the majority.

Last figures I saw were that the over 70s vaccines would commence mid February.
I'm doubting the organisation skills here. They screwed up the flu clinics, i just hope they learned and have planned for this more thoroughly. I mean they've had months to do it.

Happytentoes · 20/01/2021 08:18

@WouldBeGood thanks for that link. Interesting take from one of their own.

StarryEyeSurprise · 21/01/2021 12:49

Anyone see STV News last night? It is the Scottish Tories which are lying (what a surprise).

310k already injected
25k injected yesterday
175k distributed to GPS etc
70k in transit from the English depot
120k in England awaiting checks

How NS keeps her cool when RD lies in Parliament re the SG's 'sitting' on 700k doses when RD knows the truth, I don't know.

LetItGoGo · 21/01/2021 12:53

Don't fret, She didn't keep her cool.

StarryEyeSurprise · 21/01/2021 13:07

Well she didn't tell her to f off and stop lying which is what she must've been thinking.
