Moving into level 3

DumplingsAndStew · 10/11/2020 14:50

As of Friday, Angus, Fife and Perth & Kinross will be moving in to level 3.

I'm so angry. I know loads of people who have been travelling into Dundee for fucking shopping. Now the rest of us get penalised too Sad

There’s others who should have been moved down a tier and haven’t been🤷‍♀️
Patients are being transferred between council/health authorities causing skewed figures, it’s not shoppers in Dundee!

DumplingsAndStew · 10/11/2020 15:01

So there's been no transmission by people in the three areas above travelling to and from a higher tier? Really?

OP posts:
Bytheloch · 10/11/2020 15:04

And vice versa?

Bytheloch · 10/11/2020 15:06

I feel your frustration, I’m rural and yet subject to same tier as Glasgow🤷‍♀️

Bytheloch · 10/11/2020 15:08

and those people in Glasgow who have been sticking to rules have to be included too. It’s just shit for allConfused

DumplingsAndStew · 10/11/2020 15:27

@Bytheloch

And vice versa?
Personally, no, I don't know anyone doing vice versa

It’s crappy really, I feel for you.

I think the tier system was advertised as ‘by local authority’ but it really is still looking at health board, and specifically where people access critical care for Covid, and how many people rely on that health authority.
Hopefully next weeks review will be better.

frasersmummy · 10/11/2020 15:31

It is completely shit for everyone.. and I personally think Nicola Sturgeon has too many restrictions across the whole country for a virus that for most people is not dangerous

She is turning people against each other.. oh you were socialising ..its your fault I cant see my 'gran.. oh you went across a council line to buy clothes. its your fault people are dying

Its a virus.. it will do what it does. it will run its course and the longer we hide from it the longer it will take to run its course

Its time for her to stop her daily briefings of fear and doom and let people make decisions for themsleves instead of treating the whole country like naughty toddlers

That's very true, as I think Ninewells would be the main Covid-care for the whole of Tayside. Hospital and ICU numbers have dropped this week though, which is positive.

We’ve been moved to tier 3, too. I do think most of the infections are in care homes/ hospitals and nothing to do with the restrictions in place. It’s likely not shoppers going to Dundee! I honestly think stopping people from going to pubs/ restaurants/ shopping etc is not having an effect on hospital numbers. It wouldn’t make sense that numbers are going up here then? We’ve basically been locked down since September! I think it won’t have much of an impact day to day changing from tier 2 to tier 3 but think it’s depressing we are one step further away from normality.

Bytheloch · 10/11/2020 15:47

@frasersmummy yes to all that.

DumplingsAndStew · 10/11/2020 16:05

@iquitelikenormalityafterall

It might not be related to shopping, but we were specifically told NOT to go in to level 3 areas such as Dundee unless essential.

OP posts:
iquitelikenormalityafterall · 10/11/2020 16:29

I don’t know anyone who did 🤷🏼‍♀️ The numbers are going down in Dundee I thought? So just saying this isn’t likely to be the cause... and why were we told not to go when it’s likely nothing to do with transmission. The measures are disproportionate!

Svelteinmydreams · 10/11/2020 16:49

@frasersmummy another in complete agreement with you.

thedevilinablackdress · 11/11/2020 13:13

I know we've all got our views about politics @frasersmummy, but it's not like we're being treated massively different from the rest of the UK, or other European countries

The UK the first to pass 50k deaths in Europe and just being USA, Brazil, India and another massive county I've forgotten! Absolutely beggars belief at how many lives lost.

Pootle40 · 11/11/2020 19:47

@frasersmummy completely agree. It's an infectious virus. So sick of being made to believe we can control a virus that is rife in the country. I for one have left my health board at the weekend to visit a friend (in a restaurant). She lives on her own, works from perm and has limited family for support. Are we to expect these people to see no other human beings? What a load of shite.

Pootle40 · 11/11/2020 19:49

Should say 'works from home permanently'

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 11/11/2020 19:53

It's bullshit. NS will just keep upping the levels until she can justify a lockdown, even though the numbers tell other stories.

Why are areas with more double our figures not in level 4?

Tomorrowisanewday · 11/11/2020 21:39

Because they're her core support

Out of curiosity, who is it that decides if individual schools or areas move to blended learning - the Scot Gov, or LA's?

OP posts:
Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 08:16

LA'S are currently issuing guidance which is against that given by the SG ( relating to teachers switching off the Protect Scotland app).

I'm not sure if they have the power to put in place blended learning but didn't think they'd do that so who knows. Eis currently asking teachers to vote for industrial action if tier 4 doesn't include a requirement for blended learning.

If it goes ahead, the SG won't have a choice.

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 08:26

Should point out that Aberdeenshire Council said this was because teachers have medical grade ppe ( rubbish) and remember teachers are at the same risk as care home staff which is pretty high compared to all occupations. I'm not saying teachers shouldn't strike or that they should and hope I've not opened a can of worms here.
It makes sense that , where cases are the highest , SD is put in place and blended learning is needed to do this but we've been through this a lot at the start - the for/ against blended learning. I know teachers have been striking on the continent re safety measures (or lack of) in schools.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2020 08:36

Is it confirmed that they are telling school staff not to use the app (if they have it) or is that just a rumour at the moment?
