Keeping a cool 'what will be will be' exterior but secretly crapping it for DS' Nat 5 results. He did a reasonable amount of work considering, and is quite chilled about it, but am worried he won't do as well as he thinks and will be upset. By which I mean if course, it will be me who is upset. Would just be nice to get decent enough results to move onto the next year without having to rejig course choices etc.

Ds3 got a B in Higher Business Studies, and a C in Advanced Higher Geography.

I am a bad, bad mother, because I opened the email before he got up - he doesn't know this, though - I marked it unread, and called him downstairs. Blush

StaceyAndTracey · 04/08/2015 10:13

No you are a normal mother Grin

Well done to your DS

Mrsjayy · 04/08/2015 10:49

LoveVintage · 04/08/2015 13:22

Great post Hockney and so true. Online of one of DS' friends who passed Nat 5 maths so far though, quite worrying. His school had real staffing issues last couple of years so they will be bracing themselves.

Well done to all of your sons and daughters! Haven´t they done well?

Make sure parents get to celebrate too...all those years of enforcing supervising homework, washing P.E. kit, attending parents´ evenings, providing a Viking diorama at the last minute... congratulations to the whole family Grin

tilliebob · 04/08/2015 13:39

Well all I can say is

Fuck Sad

Schoolchauffeur · 04/08/2015 13:43

Well done to everyone's DDs/DSs! Big relief here. DS managed ABBC in his Highers, when he was expecting BCCC, so he's over the moon. He doesn't find school easy and he worked so hard this year. He's always struggled with English, but somehow he got a B.
Back to school for the last year now!

Mrsjayy · 04/08/2015 13:51

Aww no tillie are they worse than expected

tilliebob · 04/08/2015 13:57

He's sitting here with A's in some subjects but something has gone far wrong in his best/favourite subject which makes us wonder what will happen with his S5 choices etc.

Gutted for him. Really gutted. Trying to focus on the positives but he's so disappointed/confused about what went wrong.

BloodyDogHairs · 04/08/2015 14:07

DD's higher results are in A for Spanish, B for Maths, C for Graphic communication and somehow a D Shock for english....but she also failed her English prelim so she was expecting it.

BloodyDogHairs · 04/08/2015 14:08

Oh no tillie Sad

StaceyAndTracey · 04/08/2015 14:10

I'm sorry Tilly, the poor lad

Would he phone the school today and speak to someone who can advise him ?

StaceyAndTracey · 04/08/2015 14:13

Great news chauffeur

Hockneypool · 04/08/2015 14:35

Oh no Tillie. Things sometimes go awry and if there have been problems with the school I would talk to them especially if it's his best subject. Fingers crossed for a good solution.

Happy36 · 04/08/2015 14:38

Well done to all of the students.

Tillie Is there a possibility of a re-sit in your son´s favourite subject, or, indeed, a re-mark?
Definitely agree with the posters who have recommended that he phone the school for advice.

Mrsjayy · 04/08/2015 14:39

He will still be able to do his highers though ? Wd your girl bloodydoghairs is she going to resit English in 6th year

LoveVintage · 04/08/2015 16:10

What subject tillie? It's so crap you just want them to do well and move onto the next phase but not always that straightforward.

OP posts:
BloodyDogHairs · 04/08/2015 16:18

Mrsjay yeah she'll re-sit in 6th year, my dd wasn't even supposed to do the higher english exam as her prelim results for english were dire but she said she would rather give it a go than skip it.

Behooven · 04/08/2015 16:57

Resit next year tillie?

DS got AAAAB Grin I'm so proud of the work he put into it and his gran passed away right in the middle of the exams so I was really worried about that too.

StaceyAndTracey · 04/08/2015 18:05

Skills development scotland have a help line which is open tonight until 8pm . For any parents / kids looking for advice about options, courses , training

www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk/news-and-events/news/exam-results-helpline/

I phoned my Kids school today at 9am and got the head teacher , who had all her marks in front of him and was able to give v helpful advice . He told me what " bands " she was in for the two subjects in which she didn't get the grade whe was expecting . Apparently the subject teachers will be able to give her the actual marks and more advice about her higher choices etc when they are back next week.

She wasn't eligible for a clerical check of her paper as she was within a couple of marks of the expected grade ( don't know if that's better or worse ). But the school WILL ask for this if the mark is a long way short of the prelim mark

So defo worth phoning the school IME.

tilliebob · 04/08/2015 18:11

It's History - A in the prelim, A in coursework - D today Sad. We've no idea what's happened as he's got his A in English as expected. He's taken H History and picked up H Mods on the strength of his prelim scores in English and History. He wants to study history at Uni, FFS. He can't see how well he's done in other subjects and how he's gained on his prelim scores in other subjects as he's do poleaxed over the history.

tilliebob · 04/08/2015 18:12

*so poleaxed

As are we...
