Close to sea and countryside?

Just looking for examples of places to live, anywhere in UK, that have a nice beach or seaside town but also close to the countryside . . . that are on the less expensive side yet still pleasant places to live?

North Yorkshire moors and coast?

Arucanafeather · 26/03/2022 12:35

We live in Cumbria (& love it… I’m a southerner loving loving in the north Wink). If I wanted coastline and countryside, I would choose Northumberland - truly stunning and huge swathes of natural habitats.

lighterskies · 26/03/2022 12:42

North Yorkshire, Northumberland, Ayrshire.
There are a lot of places in the UK that will meet this criteria.

RandomDent · 26/03/2022 12:44

I was going to suggest the Isle of Man but you’ve no chance at that price.
Will you get anything anywhere for coast and country at that price?

stargirl1701 · 26/03/2022 12:53

Dorset.

haggisaggis · 26/03/2022 12:56

Angus coast north east Scotland
Eest Neuk Fife

Itsmemaggie · 26/03/2022 13:05

Currently sitting out in my northern garden in shorts and t-shirt - going to make the most of it before I have to head back inside for another 50 weeks.

Floralnomad · 26/03/2022 13:09

Anywhere on the Kent coast places like Herne bay and Folkestone are doable on that budget .

Well that's why I'm asking. It's quicker to come and ask for information and personal experience than reinventing the wheel spending forever on the internet trying to work it out.

North Lincolnshire. Very affordable, lots of uncrowded countryside, the beautiful Humber estuary and easy access to M62 if you ever want to leave!

olympicsrock · 26/03/2022 13:13

Dorset! Lovely countryside and by the sea!

rc22 · 26/03/2022 13:16

I would also say East Yorkshire although be careful about where you buy as on some parts of the coast you might end up a bit closer to the sea than you were planning thanks to coastal erosion!!

You definitely can in the North.

The house above is 1 mile from the beach and 1 mile outside the Lake District national park boundary.

DaffTheDoggo · 26/03/2022 13:31

You don't say how much space you need but if it's not much, something like this on the Suffolk coast? www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/121462199#/?channel=RES_BUY

GaiaWise · 26/03/2022 13:39

Definitely Swansea. Also close to Black Mountain ( not to be confused with the Black Mountains) in the Brecon Beacons National Park

This is an example of what you can get in Swansea. It backs onto Clyne Woods and is a 5 minute walk to Swansea Beach. 2 miles to Mumbles along the prom which has a walking track and a bike track.

Sewerby, on the outskirts of Bridlington.

Virtually the whole of the Anglesey coastline is a stunning AONB with lots of peaceful countryside on the island and then only a short drive off the island and you're in the spectacular and rugged open spaces of the mountains of Snowdonia.

saleorbouy · 28/03/2022 10:14

Cumbria, Solway estuary, Northumbria.

Wow, they even managed to make the garden look grey as well as every single room!

caprimoon · 28/03/2022 10:27

@Honeyroar Grin well yes.... I'm not saying it doesn't need brightening up, they're obviously not into mowing lawns but it's seconds from the cliff top and a decent space for the money.

JurassicPerks · 28/03/2022 10:46

North East Yorkshire.
My boss has just sold his 1 bed flat with sea views for 125,00.
You could almost certainly do it between Scarborough and Newcastle areas - and probably further north along the Northumbria coast too.
