View from the patio
What do you think it is it worth

An hour’s commute, unless door to door and consistently under an hour, would be a major drawback for me.

Dozer · 12/07/2020 22:55

Guess it depends on the target market. I’m not the target market: for example, would primarily want town/city amenities, public transport, proximity to lots of jobs, popular schools etc.

The view is v nice though!

Getting warmer overcovoid, Helensburgh is to the right if the pic was wide enough you could just see it, the far shore you can see is Rhu

It's a wonderful view, OP.

No idea how to value it, as per other posters comments. But it is gorgeous and bound to be an asset if all other things are equal.

notagoodidea · 12/07/2020 23:02

Well this is the rural living section so not to many big city amenities, but there are supermarket deliveries, several schools, train station 4 miles away, no queuing for doctor appointments, and fiber broadband. And lots of places to walk and ramble

Absolutely nothing if the house itself doesn't wow you.

I viewed a remote cottage perched on a cliff with 180 degree sea views which looked perfect on paper. Walked into the house and it felt horrible, can't explain why.

I didn't buy it! I bought a Georgian cottage in a town centre instead!

I've been caught in your rural web! Just seen this on Rightmove for £325k..

EinsteinaGogo, that is a smaller one just along the road from us

It looks magical 😍

What do you think of this one www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-94573739.html

I’m a southern town dweller, but I once had to visit the National Semiconductor factory in Greenock and it driving to it from Glasgow was so magical. Beautiful place. I’m envious, OP.

notagoodidea · 12/07/2020 23:25

Make the move Millicent Grin

GreyGardens88 · 12/07/2020 23:29

The view is nice but doesn't wow me, I prefer views over open countryside

MillicentMartha · 12/07/2020 23:30

Not sure my DSes will be happy about that! Grin

catzrulz · 12/07/2020 23:32

I'm further into Argyll than you OP but I recognised the view.
My eyes hurt from the Rightmove Ad... Argyle? Seriously 😡

Haretodaygonetomorrow · 12/07/2020 23:34

I’d pay an extra 15% if the waving cat is included.

notagoodidea · 12/07/2020 23:37

You might be surprised Millicent mine loved it, they would come in
muddy from playing in the forest behind the house and the we burn (stream) or soggy from the Loch fishing they had been up to

OP posts:
notagoodidea · 12/07/2020 23:39

Grey there is plenty of your type of views locally, perhaps not from the patio but all around here

notagoodidea · 12/07/2020 23:41

Catzrulz thanks for spotting the typo, will have a word with the agent tomorrow

FMD time to move to Scotland I think! Down here, in the SE of England where I live £400,000 gets you a 3bdrm tce with Postage stamp garden in an average town. Views of...neighbours across the road. 🙇🏻‍♀️

Just have to convince my friends & family they want to move!!

FattyBoom · 13/07/2020 00:06

The view itself nothing, it depends where you are when you see it!! It would make a house more desirable but wouldn't be the be all and end all. Plus i'd worry more about flooding....(although can't quite tell how close the water is)

notagoodidea · 13/07/2020 00:09

FattyBoom flooding is not an issue, 10m higher than the loch

OP posts:
IncrediblySadToo · 13/07/2020 00:40

Is the loch accessible for swimming/kayaking? Anywhere nice to sit, can you walk around it close to the water?
