Do you and your partner stay in contact when one of you is away/abroad?

I wonderedwhat your 'protocol' is?!

DP is away on a lads weekend (rubgy tour) this weekend. Left 6am Friday Morning. I have heard from him by text once to say he was boarding the ferry.

He knew 8mo DD was ill when he left - and that I was also coming down with the same thing. I don't know if it's just me, but 48 hours now, without a word. I'd like a text just to know he's not lying in a ditch somewhere!

I don't try to dictate what he does - he goes out much more than other friends, went away on stag weekend when I was heavily pregnant (and conveniently forgot his phone!) goes out lots of weekends etc.

To me it's just a lack of respect to not contact. The thing is, were it the other way around, he'd be having kittens if I hadn't let him know I got there OK etc....

(By the way, his phone definitely works abroad- he's updated his Facebook via mobile with pics/status updates since he's been there)

Hmmm. I would be pretty fuming.

DH and I aren't usually in touch that much when either of us goes away. And we don't expect it.

However, if he knew I was getting sick when he left, he would definitely almost certainly text to check I was ok. If we had a sick DC I'd certainly expect him to check.

Likewise if he had time to update Facebook I would definitely definitely expect him to have time to contact me.

As for that photo... Well, I'd say don't mention it, see what he says when he gets home. If he is honest and mentions it (perhaps with some very subtle prodding by you to give him an opportunity to fess up) then ok, just silly behaviour, mid life crisis hitting early. If on the other hand he pretends nothing remotely dodgy happened... I'd be much more worried.

I would definitely lock the door and head to bed without waiting up for him.

He has behaved appallingly.

Well, once a week would do me if when dh and I are apart in the holidays. But then he doesn't post bloody silly pictures on Facebook so that might just make the difference. And we would each expect a bit of consideration in times of sickness.
