Things like that don't bother him, I might do something come the day but I'm not going out of my way to go to the shops and spend money on something for him.

Have I a cold and withered heart?

Don't bother here anymore. Prob would if we hadn't spent the last 15 years living in countries where they don't celebrate it! (Idly wonders did DH arrange that especially?)

We got together 22 years ago yesterday and I remembered last night when DH was out on a curry night with the boys and sent him a text saying "so what were you doing this time 22 years ago....." - didn't get a reply!!!!

No, I have told DH he is cooking supper however, nothing to do with valentines day it's just his turn.

We won't be sending cards. However, DP did go out and get the £20 Valentine's meal from M&S - I was quite .

I do like the 10p cards they've got at Wilkos this year, I nearly got him one of those for a laugh.

I got dh a card and a book I know he wants. I never did valentines day with any other partner but I know dh likes valentines day .

Because I'm at work next week, I'm doing pancakes for brekkie tomorrow and then (hopefully) a big roast later on (for everyone - I always like an excuse to cook a big roast!).

We will no doubt start the day off with the thick vs thin pancake fight. Dh and I like thin pancakes like crepes, dd and ds like the American thick smaller pancakes!

ProfYaffle · 13/02/2010 08:46

"i agree that Pancakes are indeed very good, but as i cooked Toad-in-the-hole and pancakes for dh last valentines, he probably thinks love is better..... "

Or love is batter ....

Squitten · 13/02/2010 08:51

No Valentine's here either. We used to celebrate it when we were dating but we stopped a while ago. It's not too bad for blokes buying for women (flowers, chocolate, diamonds...) but the range of stuff to buy for men is hopeless! My DH has no interest in flowers, chocolates or oversized teddies holding musical hearts...

Didn't realise it was pancake day on Tuesday! Must check flour stocks....

cocolepew · 13/02/2010 09:00

Nope I had to promise DH I hadn't got him a card, he seemed to think it was a test .

On the other hand the dds are getting giant teddies and handmade cards

InmaculadaConcepcion · 13/02/2010 10:06

Too busy BF the newborn to get anything organised this year.

Perhaps I'll just tie a big ribbon around my breasts and offer him those. He could always have a milkshake.

becaroo · 13/02/2010 10:18

Nope. Pointless waste of time. I dont need a special desiganted day to tell dh I love him...why would anyone?????????

noddyholder · 13/02/2010 10:32

We never do!We don't do xmas either just have a really nice night in a hotel post xmas.We went out for lunch to a really nice pub/restaurant thursday and dp paid so thats good enough for me! Years ago when I was running a restaurant we used to be chocka with couples and we used to PMSL at all the couples saying nothing too each other all night Its for teenagers

bluejeans · 13/02/2010 11:04

We've not borthered with Valentines Day for about the last 9 years (married 14 yrs!) but have partaken of the M&S £20 meal deal this year and last year - v yummy (had it last night as we're both doing other things tomorrow!)

DH hates anything like Valentines Day, Fathers Day etc, also at this time of year our house is full of DDs birthday cards....

sweetkitty · 13/02/2010 11:23

Never bothered with it, think it's a whole load of commercialised rubbish TBH.

Was watching the poor sods wandering about the supermarkets with their roses and cards. And don't even get me started on the cuddly toys and balloons. Suppose they are aimed at 16 year olds.

We always celebrate the day of our first date which is our day not some day chosen for us by Hallmark.

Bumperlicious · 13/02/2010 11:30

No usually passes us by here, and rarely have the money to waste. We occasionally get a takeaway or nice food, using it as an excuse, but both are feeling pretty shit this weekend (me with morning sickness and a cold and him with a virus) so don't know if we will even eat much!

Starbear · 13/02/2010 11:41

Since I was a teenager Valentine is a huge disappointment. I want the bloke to be inventive but it has never happened IT's rubbish, rubbish, rubbish day. DH has offered to take ds and myself for a pub meal while the the Rugby is on. I'm might freeze the lamb for the roast and go for the pub meal at least one of us will be over the moon. My romantic gester to him, no cooking for me.
Next year I think on the 13th I'll make a huge meal for the girls with cakes chocolates & wine and let the blokes look after the kids!

backtolife · 13/02/2010 11:43

Nope not buying a thing and have told DH not to buy anything for me. Am not lining the pockets of the big fat cats at the top like some sort of mug.

backtolife · 13/02/2010 11:44

But will make some heart shaped biscuits for DH and the DC's!

BigBadMummy · 13/02/2010 11:45

we wont either. Why pay a premium for flowers today when they will be half price on Monday?

Or have to pay for a set price dinner tonight and be surrounded by gushing romantic people.

I love a bit of romance, but spontaneous wins the day for me not because Hallmark and Clinton have decided!

nickelbabe · 13/02/2010 12:23

i'm being taken to watch Notts County trounce Fulham in the FA cup match.
the date is coincidence, though!

but OH is already moaning about it because he's tired and wants a rest (it's his weekend off this weekend and he's not even getting a lie-in, never mind a sit-down!)

and he's playing me a special piece on the organ (that always sounds rude when i say that!) after church.

i've made him a big card with floating hearts.
it took me about half an hour.

(and it's our first valentine's day, which is the only reason we're making an effort)

nickelbabe · 13/02/2010 12:24

(btw: the match is only a lovely romantic gesture because i'm the Notts County fan - he supports Chelsea)

CliffBarnsby · 13/02/2010 12:46

Definitely skipping it.

Of course DP does usually get me a card or something even though we 'don't celebrate'. I've even told him this year which coffee cup he might get me if he is so inclined.

I won't be upset if I get nothing, though since we haven't celebrated for a few years - it is way to hectic to even leave the house and with 2 under 2 and no trustworthy willing to watch the kids family nearby it would just be more trouble than it is worth

ShowOfHands · 13/02/2010 12:54

Nah. DH is at work till 4am tomorrow, will sleep for a couple of hours, get up, got to play American Football in the snow, go straight to work at 1pm and come home around midnight. I won't see him.

We don't bother with it at all. I'd forgotten it was tomorrow actually.

MrsChemist · 13/02/2010 12:55

I've been out and bought some bacon so I can make DH (and me) bacon sandwiches for breakfast tomorrow. That is all I will be doing.
